| 1達味在達味城為自己建造了宮室，也為天主的約櫃預備了一塊地方，支搭了一座帳幕。 | 1He made also houses for himself in the city of David: and built a place for the ark of God, and pitched a tabernacle for it. |
| 2那時，達味心裏想：天主的約櫃，除肋未人外，誰也不能抬，因為上主只簡選了他們抬上主的約櫃，永遠奉事他。 | 2Then David said: No one ought to carry the ark of God, but the Levites, whom the Lord hath chosen to carry it, and to minister unto himself for ever. |
| 3達味遂召集了全以色列到耶路撒冷來，為將上主的約櫃迎運到他所預備的地方。 | 3And he gathered all Israel together into Jerusalem, that the ark of God might be brought into its place, which he had prepared for it. |
| 4他又召集了亞郎的子孫和肋未人： | 4And the sons of Aaron also, and the Levites. |
| 5刻哈特子孫的族長烏黎耳，和他的同族一百二十人； | 5Of the children of Caath, Uriel was the chief, and his brethren a hundred and twenty. |
| 6默辣黎子孫的族長阿撒雅，和他的同族二百二十人， | 6Of the sons of Merari, Asaia the chief, and his brethren two hundred and twenty. |
| 7革爾雄子孫的族長約厄耳，和他的同族一百三十人； | 7Of the sons of Gersom, Joel the chief, and his brethren a hundred and thirty. |
| 8厄里匝番子孫的族長舍瑪雅和他的同族二百人； | 8Of the sons of Elisaphan, Semeias the chief: and his brethren two hundred. |
| 9赫貝龍子孫的族長厄里耳，和他的同族八十人； | 9Of the sons of Hebron, Eliel the chief: and his brethren eighty. |
| 10烏齊耳子孫的族長阿米納達布和他的同族一百一十二人。 | 10Of the sons of Oziel, Aminadab the chief: and his brethren a hundred and twelve. |
| 11達味將司祭匝多克、厄貝雅塔爾，及肋未人烏黎耳、阿撒雅、約厄耳，舍瑪雅、厄里耳和阿米納達布召來， | 11And David called Sadoc, and Abiathar the priests, and the Levites, Uriel, Asaia, Joel, Semeia, Eliel, and Aminadab: |
| 12對他們說：「你們既為肋未人的族長，你們與你們的同族兄弟就當聖潔自己，將上主以色列天主的約櫃，抬到我所準備的地方。 | 12And he said to them: You that are the heads of the Levitical families, be sanctified with your brethren, and brine the ark of the Lord the God of Israel to the place, which is prepared for it: |
| 13因為你們初次不在場，我們沒有按照規則迎接，所以上主我們的天主打擊了我們。」 | 13Lest as the Lord at first struck us, because you were not present, the same should now also come to pass, by our doing some thing against the law. |
| 14司祭和肋未人便聖潔自己，好將上主以色列天主的約櫃抬上來。 | 14So the priests and the Levites were sanctified, to carry the ark of the Lord the God of Israel. |
| 15肋未子孫按照梅瑟奉天主的命所吩咐的，用杠杆在肩上抬着上主的約櫃。 | 15And the sons of Levi took the ark of God as Moses had commanded, according to the word of the Lord, upon their shoulders, with the staves. |
| 16達味又吩咐肋未人的族長，由他們的同族兄弟中指派一些歌詠者，叫他們用各種樂器、琴瑟和鐃鈸，奏出嘹喨歡樂的聲音。 | 16And David spoke to the chiefs of the Levites, to appoint some of their brethren to be singers with musical instruments, to wit, on psalteries, and harps, and cymbals, that the joyful noise might resound on high. |
| 17肋未人遂指派了約厄耳的兒子赫曼和他的一個同族貝勒克雅的兒子阿撒夫，並他們同族兄弟默辣黎的子孫中，谷沙雅的兒子厄堂。 | 17And they appointed Levites, Hemam the son of Joel, and of his brethren Asaph the son of Barachias: and of the sons of Merari, their brethren: Ethan the son of Casaia. |
| 18與他們一起的，尚有他們的同族兄弟，組成第二班：則加黎雅、雅阿齊耳、舍米辣摩特、耶希耳、翁尼、厄里阿布、貝納雅、瑪阿色雅、瑪提提雅、厄里斐路和米刻乃雅，以及守衛敖貝得厄東和耶希耳。 | 18And with them their brethren: in the second rank, Zacharias, and Ben, and Jaziel, and Semiramoth, and Jahiel, and Ani, and Eliab, and Banaias, and Maasias, and Mathathias, and Eliphalu, and Macenias, and Obededom, and Jehiel, the porters. |
| 19至於歌詠者，赫曼、阿撒夫和厄堂打銅鈸； | 19Now the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, sounded with cymbals of brass. |
| 20則加黎雅、雅阿齊耳、舍米辣摩特、耶希耳、翁尼、厄里阿布、瑪阿色雅、貝納雅彈瑟，調用高音。 | 20And Zacharias, and Oziel, and Semiramoth, and Jehiel, and Ani, and Eliab, and Maasias, and Banaias, sung mysteries upon psalteries. |
| 21瑪提提雅、厄里斐路、米刻乃雅、敖貝得厄東、耶依耳、阿匝齊雅領先彈琴，調用低音。 | 21And Mathathias, and Eliphalu, and Macenias and Obededom, and Jehiel and Ozaziu, sung a song of victory for the octave upon harps. |
| 22肋未人的族長革納尼雅管理歌詠，因他善於歌詠之事。 | 22And Chonenias chief of the Levites, presided over the prophecy, to give out the tunes: for he was very skillful. |
| 23貝勒基雅和厄耳卡納為守衛，看守約櫃。 | 23And Barachias, and Elcana, were doorkeepers of the ark. |
| 24司祭舍巴尼雅、約沙法特、乃塔乃耳、阿瑪賽、則加黎雅、貝納雅和厄里厄則爾，在天主的約櫃前吹號筒；敖貝得厄東和耶希雅為守衛，看守約櫃。 | 24And Sebenias, and Josaphat, and Nathanael, and Amasai, and Zacharias, and Banaias, and Eliezer the priests, sounded with trumpets, before the ark of God: and Obededom and Jehias were porters of the ark. |
| 25於是達味和以色列的長老並千夫長前去，由敖貝得厄東家中，興高采烈地將上主的約櫃接上來。 | 25So David and all the ancients of Israel, and the captains over thousands, went to bring the ark of the covenant of the Lord out of the house of Obededom with joy. |
| 26由於天主扶助了抬上主約櫃的肋未人，他們遂祭獻了七頭公牛和七隻公山羊。 | 26And when God had helped the Levites who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord, they offered in sacrifice seven oxen, and seven rams. |
| 27達味、抬約櫃的肋未人、歌詠之長革納黎雅以及歌詠者，都穿着細麻長衣，達味另外又佩帶着細麻的「厄弗得」。 | 27And David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, and all the Levites that carried the ark, and the singing men, and Chonenias the ruler of the prophecy among the singers: and David also had on him an ephod of linen. |
| 28全以色列在歡呼、吹角、吹號、擊鈸、鼓瑟、彈琴、奏樂之中，將上主的約櫃接了上來。 | 28And all Israel brought the ark of the covenant of the Lord with joyful shouting, and sounding with the sound of the comet, and with trumpets, and cymbals, and psalteries, and harps. |
| 29上主的約櫃進入達味城時，撒烏耳的女兒米加耳由窗內窺看，見達味跳躍舞蹈，心中就輕視他。 | 29And when the ark of the covenant of the Lord was come to the city of David, Michol the daughter of Saul looking out at a window, saw king David dancing and playing, and she despised him in her heart. |
