| 1當達味住在宮殿時，對納堂先知說：「看，我住在香柏木的宮殿裏，上主的結約之櫃卻在帳幕裏。」 | 1Now when David was dwelling in his house, he said to Nathan the prophet: Behold I dwell in a house of cedar: and the ark of the covenant of the Lord is under skins. |
| 2納堂回答達味說：「你心中打算的，你全可照辦，因為上主與你同在。」 | 2And Nathan said to David: Do all that is in thy heart: for God is with thee. |
| 3但是，當夜就有天主的話傳於納堂說： | 3Now that night the word of God came to Nathan, saying: |
| 4「你去告訴我的僕人達味，上主這樣說：不是你要為我建築殿宇居住。 | 4Go, and speak to David my servant: Thus saith the Lord: Thou shalt not build me a house to dwell in. |
| 5我自從領以色列上來那天起，直到今日，從沒有住過殿宇，只從這帳棚到那帳棚，從這會幕到那會幕。 | 5For I have not remained in a house from the time that I brought up Israel, to this day: but I have been always changing places in a tabernacle, and in a tent, |
| 6在我與全以色列同行時，我何嘗向我立為牧養我民以色列的一個民長說過：你們為什麼不為我建造一座香柏木的殿宇？ | 6Abiding with all Israel. Did I ever speak to any one, of all the judges of Israel, whom I charged to feed my people, saying: Why have you not built me a house of cedar? |
| 7現在你要對我的僕人達味說：萬軍的上主這樣說：是我揀選你離開牧場，離開放羊的事，作我民以色列的領袖。 | 7Now therefore thus shalt thou say to my servant David: Thus saith the Lord of hosts: I took thee from the pastures, from following the flock, that thou shouldst be ruler of my people Israel. |
| 8你不論往那裏去，我總是同你在一起，由你面前消滅你的一切仇敵。我要使你成名，像世上出名的大人物。 | 8And I have been with thee whithersoever thou hast gone: and have slain all thy enemies before thee, and have made thee a name like that of one of the great ones that are renowned in the earth. |
| 9我要為我民以色列安置一個地方，栽培他們，在那裏久住，再也不受驚擾，再也不像先前受惡人的蹂躪， | 9And I have given a place to my people Israel: they shall be planted, and shall dwell therein, and shall be moved no more, neither shall the children of iniquity waste them, as at the beginning, |
| 10有如我為我民以色列立民長的時候一樣；我要降服你的一切仇敵。並且我告訴你：上主必要為你建立家室。 | 10Since the days that I gave judges to my people Israel, and have humbled all thy enemies. And I declare to thee, that the Lord will build thee a house. |
| 11及至你日子滿期，到你祖先那裏去時，我必在你以後給你興起一個後裔，即你所生的一個兒子，鞏固他的王權。 | 11And when thou shalt have ended thy days to go to thy fathers, I will raise up thy seed after thee, which shall be of thy sons: and I will establish his kingdom. |
| 12他要為我建造殿宇，我要鞏固他的王位，直到永遠。 | 12He shall build me a house, and I will establish his throne for ever. |
| 13我要作他的父親，他要作我的兒子；我決不使我的寵愛離棄他，有如離棄你以前那一位 | 13I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son: and I will not take my mercy away from him, as I took it from him that was before thee. |
| 14反要使他堅立在我的家和我的國中，至於永遠；他的王位永固不移。」 | 14But I will settle him in my house, and in my kingdom for ever: and his throne shall be most firm for ever. |
| 15納堂便照這一切話，將整個啟示告訴了達味。 | 15According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak to David. |
| 16達味就進去，端坐在上主面前說：「上主，天主！我是誰？我的家族又算什麼，你竟領我到了這個地步！ | 16And king David came and sat before the Lord, and said: Who am I, O Lord God, and what is my house, that thou shouldst give such things to me? |
| 17天主，這在你眼裏還以為太小，而你又說明瞭你僕人家族的未來遠景，竟視我有如一個高貴的人，上主，天主！ | 17But even this hath seemed little in thy sight, and therefore thou hast also spoken concerning the house of thy servant for the time to come: and hast made me remarkable above all men, O Lord God. |
| 18為了你加於你僕人達味的光榮，我還有什麼話可向你說，你認識你的僕人。 | 18What can David add more, seeing thou hast thus glorified thy servant, and known him? |
| 19上主！你為了你的僕人，按照你的心意，成就了這些偉大的事，為將這些偉大的事彰顯出來。 | 19O Lord, for thy servant's sake, according to thy own heart, thou hast shewn all this magnificence, and wouldst have all the great things to be known. |
| 20上主！照我們耳朵所聽到的，沒有誰能與你相比；除你以外，也沒有別的神。 | 20O Lord there is none like thee: and there is no other God beside thee, of all whom we have heard of with our ears. |
| 21世上又有那一個民族，能比得上你的民族以色列？天主竟親自將他們解救出來，作為自己的民族，為使你成名，就在你從埃及解救出來的人民前，行了大而可畏的奇事驅散了異民； | 21For what other nation is there upon earth like thy people Israel, whom God went to deliver, and make a people for himself, and by his greatness and terrors cast out nations before their face whom he had delivered out of Egypt? |
| 22你使你的民族以色列永遠作你的民族，你，上主做他們的天主。 | 22And thou hast made thy people Israel to be thy own people for ever, and thou, O Lord, art become their God. |
| 23上主！現在求你永遠堅持你論及你僕人，及他的家室所說的話，照你所說的話履行罷！ | 23Now therefore, O Lord, let the word which thou hast spoken to thy servant, and concerning his house, be established for ever, and do as thou hast said. |
| 24願這話堅定不移，願你的名永遠受尊崇，人人都說：萬軍的上主，以色列的天主，實在是以色列的天主。願你僕人達味的家室，在你面前堅定不移！ | 24And let thy name remain and be magnified for ever: and let it be said: The Lord of hosts is God of Israel, and the house of David his servant remaineth before him. |
| 25我的天主！因為是你啟示你的僕人，要為他建立家室，因此，你的僕人纔敢在你面前如此祈禱。 | 25For thou, O Lord my God, hast revealed to the ear of thy servant, that thou wilt build him a house: and therefore thy servant hath found confidence to pray before thee. |
| 26上主！惟獨你是天主！是你向你僕人應許了這些恩惠。 | 26And now O Lord, thou art God: and thou hast promised to thy servant such great benefits. |
| 27現在，就請你惠然祝福你僕人的家室，使它永遠在你面前存立。上主！因為凡你祝福的，必永遠獲得祝福。」 | 27And thou hast begun to bless the house of thy servant, that it may be always before thee: for seeing thou blessest it, O Lord, it shall be blessed for ever. |
