撒慕爾紀上	1 Samuel
¹撒烏耳曾對兒子約納堂和臣僕提過，他願殺達味；但撒烏耳的兒子約納堂很愛達味，	¹And Saul spoke to Jonathan his son and to all his servants, that they should kill David. But Jonathan the son of Saul loved David exceedingly.
²就警告達味說：「我父親撒烏耳想謀害你，現今請你明晨多加小心，躲藏在一個隱密的地方。	²And Jonathan told David, saying: Saul my father seeketh to kill thee: wherefore look to thyself, I beseech thee, in the morning, and thou shalt abide in a secret place and shalt be hid.
³我去陪我父親到你所在的田間，向我父親代你說情，看情形怎樣，然後告訴你。」	³And I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where thou art: and I will speak of thee to my father, and whatsoever I shall see, I will tell thee.
⁴於是約納堂向他父親撒烏耳提及達味的長處，對他說：「君王不要得罪自己的僕人達味，因為他沒有得罪你，並且他所行的，都是對你很有利的事。	⁴And Jonathan spoke good things of David to Saul his father: and said to him: Sin not, O king, against thy servant, David, because he hath not sinned against thee, and his works are very good towards thee.
⁵他冒着性命的危險，去殺了那培肋舍特人；上主藉他使以色列獲得了這樣大的勝利，你親自看見了，也很喜歡；為什麼你要犯罪，流無辜者的血，無緣無故殺害達味？」	⁵And he put his life in his hand, and slew the Philistine, and the Lord wrought great salvation for all Israel. Thou sawest it and didst rejoice. Why therefore wilt thou sin against innocent blood by killing David, who is without fault?
⁶撒烏耳就聽了約納堂的話，並且發誓說：「上主永在！他必不死。」	⁶And when Saul heard this he was appeased with the words of Jonathan, and swore: As the Lord liveth he shall not be slain.
⁷約納堂便叫回達味，告訴他這一切話，並且領他到撒烏耳前；他就和先前一樣，侍立在君王左右。	⁷Then Jonathan called David and told him all these words: and Jonathan brought in David to Saul, and he was before him, as he had been yesterday and the day before.
⁸再次爆發了戰爭，達味又出征攻打培肋舍特人，打的他們大敗，他們都從他面前逃散了。	⁸And the war began again, and David went out and fought against the Philistines, and defeated them with a great slaughter, and they fled from his face.
⁹惡神由上主那裏又降在撒烏耳身上；有一天，君王在家中坐着，手中拿着槍，同時達味正在彈琴。	⁹And the evil spirit from the Lord came upon Saul, and he sat in his house, and held a spear in his hand: and David played with his hand.
¹⁰撒烏耳想用槍把達味釘在牆上，但達味立刻由撒烏耳面前躲開，君王把槍釘在牆上，達味就逃跑了，沒有喪命。	¹⁰And Saul endeavoured to nail David to the wall with his spear. And David slipt away out of the presence of Saul: and the spear missed him, and was fastened in the wall, and David fled and escaped that night.
¹¹那一夜，撒烏耳派差役去看守達味的家，要在早晨殺害他。他的妻子米加耳警告他說：「今夜你不逃命，明日你就沒有命了！」	¹¹Saul therefore sent his guards to David's house to watch him, that he might be killed in the morning. And when Michol David's wife had told him this, saying: Unless thou save thyself this night, tomorrow thou wilt die,
¹²米加耳把達味從窗口縋下去，他便逃跑了，救了命。	¹²She let him down through a window. And he went and fled away and escaped.
¹³米加耳隨即把神像拿來放在床上，用毛毯把頭蓋上，又蓋上一件衣服。	¹³And Michol took an image and laid it on the bed, and put a goat's skin with the hair at the head of it, and covered it with clothes.
¹⁴當撒烏耳派差役去捉拿達味時，米加耳說：「達味病了。」	¹⁴And Saul sent officers to seize David: and it was answered that he was sick.
¹⁵撒烏耳再派差役去看達味說：「將達味連床抬到這裏來，我要殺死他。」	¹⁵And again Saul sent to see David, saying: Bring him to me in the bed, that he may be slain.
¹⁶差役進去，見是「神像」躺在床上，有張毛毯蓋着頭。	¹⁶And when the messengers were come in, they found an image upon the bed, and a goat's skin at its head.
¹⁷因此撒烏耳對米加耳說：「你為什麼這樣欺騙我？放走了我的仇人，叫他逃命。」米加耳回答撒烏耳說：「他對我說：放我走！不然我要殺你！」	¹⁷And Saul said to Michol: Why hast thou deceived me so, and let my enemy go and flee away? And Michol answered Saul: Because he said to me: Let me go, or else I will kill thee.
¹⁸達味死裏逃生，到了辣瑪，去見撒慕爾，向他報告了撒烏耳對自己所行的一切；然後他便和撒慕爾去了納約特，住在那裏。	¹⁸But David fled and escaped, and came to Samuel in Ramatha, and told him all that Saul had done to him: and he and Samuel went and dwelt in Najoth.
¹⁹有人告訴撒烏耳說：「看，達味住在辣瑪的納約特。」	¹⁹And it was told Saul by some, saying: Behold David is in Najoth in Ramatha.
²⁰撒烏耳又派差役去捉拿達味，但是他們看見一大群先知正在出神說妙語，撒慕爾站在他們前面作領導；那時天主的神也降在撒烏耳的差役身上，他們也出神說起妙語來。	²⁰So Saul sent officers to take David: and when they saw a company of prophets prophesying, and Samuel presiding over them, the spirit of the Lord came also upon them, and they likewise began to prophesy.
²¹有人將此事告訴了撒烏耳，他又打發別的差役去，他們也出神說開了妙語。撒烏耳第三次又打發差役去，他們也出神說開了妙語。	²¹And when this was told Saul, he sent other messengers: but they also prophesied. And again Saul sent messengers the third time: and they prophesied also. And Saul being exceedingly angry,
²²撒烏耳大發忿怒，便親自去了辣瑪；當他到了色雇的大井那裏，就問說：「撒慕爾和達味在那裏？」有人答說：「在辣瑪的納約特。」	²²Went also himself to Ramatha, and came as far as the great cistern, which is in Socho, and he asked, and said: In what place are Samuel and David? And it was told him: Behold they are in Najoth in Ramatha.
²³他就從那裏起身往辣瑪納約特去；那時天主的神也降到他身上，所以他一邊走，一邊出神說妙語，一直到了辣瑪納約特。	²³And he went to Najoth in Ramatha, and the spirit of the Lord came upon him also, and he went on, and prophesied till he came to Najoth in Ramatha.
²⁴並且他還脫去衣服，也在撒慕爾面前出神說起妙語來，赤裸裸地一天一夜躺在地上：因此有句俗語說：「不是撒烏耳也列在先知中嗎？」	²⁴And he stripped himself also of his garments, and prophesied with the rest before Samuel, and lay down naked all that day and night. This gave occasion to a proverb: What! is Saul too among the prophets?
