| 1此外，弟兄們，我們在主耶穌內還請求和勸勉你們：你們既由我們學會了應怎樣行事，為中悅天主，你們就該怎樣行事，還要更向前邁進。 | 1For the rest therefore, brethren, we pray and beseech you in the Lord Jesus, that as you have received from us, how you ought to walk, and to please God, so also you would walk, that you may abound the more. |
| 2你們原來知道：我們因主耶穌給了你們什麼誡命。 | 2For you know what precepts I have given to you by the Lord Jesus. |
| 3天主的旨意就是要你們成聖，要你們戒絕邪淫， | 3For this is the will of God, your sanctification; that you should abstain from fornication; |
| 4要你們每一個人明瞭，應以聖潔和敬意持守自己的肉體， | 4That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour: |
| 5不要放縱邪淫之情，像那些不認識天主的外邦人一樣； | 5Not in the passion of lust, like the Gentiles that know not God: |
| 6在這樣的事上，不要侵犯損害自己的弟兄，因為主對這一切是要報復的，就如我們先前已說過，已證明過的， | 6And that no man overreach, nor circumvent his brother in business: because the Lord is the avenger of all these things, as we have told you before, and have testified. |
| 7因為天主召叫我們不是為不潔，而是為成聖。 | 7For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto sanctification. |
| 8所以凡輕視這誡命的，不是輕視人，而是輕視那將自己的聖神賦於你們身上的天主。 | 8Therefore, he that despiseth these things, despiseth not man, but God, who also hath given his holy Spirit in us. |
| 9關於弟兄的友愛，不需要給你們寫什麼，因為你們自己由天主受了彼此相愛的教訓。 | 9But as touching the charity of brotherhood, we have no need to write to you: for yourselves have learned of God to love one another. |
| 10你們對全馬其頓的眾弟兄原已實行了這事；不過，弟兄們，我們勸你們更向前邁進。 | 10For indeed you do it towards all the brethren in all Macedonia. But we entreat you, brethren, that you abound more: |
| 11你們要以過安定的生活，專務己業，親手勞作為光榮，就如我們所吩咐過你們的， | 11And that you use your endeavour to be quiet, and that you do your own business, and work with your own hands, as we commanded you: and that you walk honestly towards them that are without; and that you want nothing of any man's. |
| 12好叫你們在外人前來往時有光釆，不仰仗任何人。 | 12And we will not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning them that are asleep, that you be not sorrowful, even as others who have no hope. |
| 13弟兄們，關於亡者，我們不願意你們不知道，以免你們憂傷，像其他沒有望德的人一樣。 | 13For if we believe that Jesus died, and rose again; even so them who have slept through Jesus, will God bring with him. |
| 14因為我們若是信耶穌死了，也復活了，同樣也必信天主要領那些死於耶穌內的人同他一起來。 | 14For this we say unto you in the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who remain unto the coming of the Lord, shall not prevent them who have slept. |
| 15我們照主的話告訴你們這件事：我們這些活着存留到主來臨時的人，決不會在已死的人以前。 | 15For the Lord himself shall come down from heaven with commandment, and with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God: and the dead who are in Christ, shall rise first. |
| 16因為在發命時，在總領天使吶喊和天主的號聲響時，主要親自由天降來，那些死於基督內的人先要復活， | 16Then we who are alive, who are left, shall be taken up together with them in the clouds to meet Christ, into the air, and so shall we be always with the Lord. |
| 17然後我們這些活着還存留的人，同時與他們一起要被提到雲彩上，到空中迎接主：這樣，我們就時常同主在一起。 | 17Wherefore, comfort ye one another with these words. |
| 18為此，你們要常用這些話彼此安慰。 | 18 |
