| 1猶大王阿哈次十二年，厄拉的兒子曷舍亞在撒瑪黎雅登極為以色列王，在位凡九年。 | 1In the twelfth year of Achaz king of Juda, Osee the son of Ela reigned in Samaria over Israel nine years. |
| 2他行了上主視為惡的事，但不像他以前的以色列列王。 | 2And he did evil before the Lord: but not as the kings of Israel that had been before him. |
| 3亞述王沙耳瑪乃色上來攻打曷舍亞，他便向亞述王稱臣納貢。 | 3Against him came up Salmanasar king of the Assyrians, and Osee became his servant, and paid him tribute. |
| 4後來亞述王發覺曷舍亞企圖造反。原來曷舍亞曾派使者去見埃及王索阿，就不再向亞述王每年納貢，所以亞述王將他拘捕，囚在監裏。 | 4And when the king of the Assyrians found that Osee endeavouring to rebel had sent messengers to Sua the king of Egypt, that he might not pay tribute to the king of the Assyrians, as he had done every year, he besieged him, bound him, and cast him into prison, |
| 5隨後，亞述王進軍侵入全國，直逼撒瑪黎雅，圍攻了三年， | 5And he went through all the land: and going up to Samaria, he besieged it three years. |
| 6曷舍亞九年，亞述王攻陷了撒瑪黎雅，把以色列人擄往亞述，把他們安置在哈拉黑和靠近哥倉河的哈波爾，以及瑪待各城。 | 6And in the ninth year of Osee, the king of the Assyrians took Samaria, and carried Israel away to Assyria: and he placed them in Hala and Habor by the river of Gozan, in the cities of the Medes. |
| 7這是因為以色列子民犯罪，得罪了領他們離開埃及地，擺脫埃及王法郎之手的上主，他們的天主，而去敬拜了別的神， | 7For so it was that the children of Israel had sinned against the Lord their God, who brought them out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharao king of Egypt, and they worshipped strange gods. |
| 8隨從了上主由以色列子民面前，所驅逐的異民的習俗，和以色列列王所規定的律例。 | 8And they walked according to the way of the nations which the Lord had destroyed in the sight of the children of Israel and of the kings of Israel: because they had done in like manner. |
| 9以色列子民作了不義的事，得罪了上主他們的天主：在他們所有的城中，從守望台直到設防的城，到處建有高丘； | 9And the children of Israel offended the Lord their God with things that were not right: and built them high places in all their cities from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city. |
| 10在各高崗上，在所有的綠樹下，豎有石柱和木偶； | 10And they made them statues and groves on every high hill, and under every shady tree: |
| 11在高丘上，依照上主從他們面前所驅逐的異民的習俗，焚香獻祭，作惡激怒上主； | 11And they burnt incense there upon altars after the manner of the nations which the Lord had removed from their face: and they did wicked things, provoking the Lord. |
| 12又敬拜偶像，雖然天主曾明明吩咐他們說：你們不可行這樣的事！ | 12And they worshipped abominations, concerning which the Lord had commanded them that they should not do this thing. |
| 13上主曾藉眾先知和先見者警告以色列和猶大說：「你們應離棄你們的邪道，按照我給你們祖先所規定的，藉我的僕人，眾先知給你們傳授的一切法律，遵守我的誡命和我的法令。」 | 13And the Lord testified to them in Israel and in Juda by the hand of all the prophets and seers, saying: Return from your wicked ways, and keep my precepts, and ceremonies, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers: and as I have sent to you in the hand of my servants the prophets. |
| 14他們卻不聽從，如同他們的祖先一樣執拗，不肯相信上主他們的天主， | 14And they hearkened not, but hardened their necks like to the neck of their fathers, who would not obey the Lord their God. |
| 15拒絕了上主的法律和他與他們的祖先所訂立的盟約，以及對他們所發出的警告；隨從他們四周上主曾命令他們不可效法的異民，追求虛無，自己成為虛無； | 15And they rejected his ordinances and the covenant that he made with their fathers, and the testimonies which he testified against them: and they followed vanities, and acted vainly: and they followed the nations that were round about them, concerning which the Lord had commanded them that they should not do as they did. |
| 16拋棄了上主他們天主的一切命令，為自己鑄造神像，即兩個牛犢，製造木偶，敬拜天上萬象，事奉巴耳， | 16And they forsook all the precepts of the Lord their God: and made to themselves two molten calves, and groves, and adored all the host of heaven: and they served Baal. |
| 17使兒女經火獻神，行占卜和法術，出賣自己，行上主視為惡的事，激怒上主； | 17And consecrated their sons, and their daughters through fire: and they gave themselves to divinations, and soothsayings: and they delivered themselves up to do evil before the Lord, to provoke him. |
| 18因此，上主對以色列大發憤怒，將他們從自己面前趕走，只留下了猶大支派。 | 18And the Lord was very angry with Israel, and removed them from his sight, and there remained only the tribe of Juda. |
| 19但是，猶大也沒有遵守上主，他們天主的命令，反而也隨從了以色列所行的習俗。 | 19But neither did Juda itself keep the commandments of the Lord their God: but they walked in the errors of Israel, which they had wrought. |
| 20為此，上主拋棄了以色列所有的後裔，使他們受壓迫，任人宰割，終於將他們從自己面前趕走。 | 20And the Lord cast off all the seed of Israel, and afflicted them and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, till he cast them away from his face: |
| 21的確，自從上主使以色列與達味家分裂以後，以色列便立了乃巴特的兒子雅洛貝罕為王；雅洛貝罕即引以色列遠進了上主，使他們陷於重罪。 | 21Even from that time, when Israel was rent from the house of David, and made Jeroboam son of Nabat their king: for Jeroboam separated Israel from the Lord, and made them commit a great sin. |
| 22以色列子民遂追隨雅洛貝罕所犯的一切罪惡，始終沒有離開， | 22And the children of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam, which he had done: and they departed not from them, |
| 23直到上主將以色列從自己面前趕走，正如上主藉自己的僕人眾先知說的話。因此，以色列由本國被擄往亞述，直到今日。 | 23Till the Lord removed Israel from his face, as he had spoken in the hand of all his servants the prophets: and Israel was carried away out of their land to Assyria, unto this day. |
| 24亞述王從巴比倫、雇特、阿瓦、哈瑪特和色法瓦因徙置一些人民，住在撒瑪黎雅各城，以代替以色列人；這些人佔據了撒瑪黎雅，就住在各城內。 | 24And the king of the Assyrians brought people from Babylon, and from Cutha, and from Avah, and from Emath, and from Sepharvaim: and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel: and they possessed Samaria, and dwelt in the cities thereof. |
| 25他們起初住在那裏的時候，因為不敬畏上主，所以上主打發獅子來，咬死了他們一些人。 | 25And when they began to dwell there, they feared not the Lord: and the Lord sent lions among them, which killed them. |
| 26有人報告亞述王說：「你在撒瑪黎雅各城徙置的人民，不知敬拜土神的禮儀，因此那神打發獅子來咬死了他們一些人，因為他們不知敬拜土神的禮儀。」 | 26And it was told the king of the Assyrians, and it was said: The nations which thou hast removed, and made to dwell in the cities of Samaria, know not the ordinances of the God of the land: and the Lord hath sent lions among them: and behold they kill them, because they know not the manner of the God of the land. |
| 27亞述王於是下令說：「你們叫一個從撒瑪黎雅擄來的司祭回去，住在那裏，教給他們敬拜土神的禮儀。」 | 27And the king of the Assyrians commanded, saying: Carry thither one of the priests whom you brought from thence captive, and let him go, and dwell with them: and let him teach them the ordinances of the God of the land. |
| 28於是，有一個從撒瑪黎雅擄去的司祭回來，住在貝特耳，教給他們該怎樣敬拜雅威。 | 28So one of the priests who had been carried away captive from Samaria, came and dwelt in Bethel, and taught them how they should worship the Lord. |
| 29雖然如此，各個民族仍然製造自己的神，供在撒瑪黎雅人所建築的高丘上的廟宇中；各個民族在自己所住的城內，供着自己的神。 | 29And every nation made gods of their own, and put them in the temples of the high places, which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities where they dwelt. |
| 30巴比倫人製造了穌苛特貝諾特，雇特人製造了乃爾加耳，哈瑪特人製造了阿史瑪， | 30For the men of Babylon made Sochothbenoth: and the Cuthites made Nergel: and the men of Emath made Asima. |
| 31阿瓦人製造了尼貝哈次和塔爾塔克，色法瓦因人使兒女經火，獻於色法瓦因的神阿德辣默肋客和阿納默肋客； | 31And the Hevites made Nebahaz and Tharthac. And they that were of Sepharvaim burnt their children in fire, to Adramelech and Anamelech the gods of Sepharvaim. |
| 32同時他們也敬拜上主，從自己中間選派一些人作高丘上的司祭，在高丘上的廟宇內自己獻祭。 | 32And nevertheless they worshipped the Lord. And they made to themselves, of the lowest of the people, priests of the high places, and they placed them in the temples of the high places. |
| 33這樣，他們也敬拜上主，也奉事自己的神，從那一國徙置來的，就照那一國的禮儀。 | 33And when they worshipped the Lord, they served also their own gods according to the custom of the nations out of which they were brought to Samaria: |
| 34直到今日，他們仍然依照先前的禮儀而行。雅各伯──上主給他改名為以色列──的子孫，也不全心敬畏上主，也不按照上主給他們所立的條例、禮儀、法律和誡命而行。 | 34Unto this day they followed the old manner: they fear not the Lord, neither do they keep his ceremonies, and judgments, and law, and the commandment, which the Lord commanded the children of Jacob, whom he surnamed Israel: |
| 35上主曾與他們立約，吩咐他們說：「你們不可敬拜別的神，也不可跪拜，也不可事奉，也不可向他們獻祭； | 35With whom he made a covenant, and charged them, saying: You shall not fear strange gods, nor shall you adore them, nor worship them, nor sacrifice to them. |
| 36只應敬拜那以強力和伸展的手臂，領你們離開埃及地的上主，只應向他跪拜，向他獻祭。 | 36But the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt with great power, and a stretched out arm, him shall you fear, and him shall you adore, and to him shall you sacrifice. |
| 37我為你們寫定的條例、禮儀、法律和誡命，要時常謹守遵行，不可敬拜別的神。 | 37And the ceremonies, and judgments, and law, and the commandment, which he wrote for you, you shall observe to do them always: and you shall not fear strange gods. |
| 38我與你們立的盟約，不要忘記，也不要敬拜別的神， | 38And the covenant that he made with you, you shall not forget: neither shall ye worship strange gods, |
| 39只應敬拜上主你們的天主，他必拯救你們脫離你們一切仇敵的權勢。」 | 39But fear the Lord your God, and he shall deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies. |
| 40然而，他們不聽，仍然依照他們先前的禮儀而行。 | 40But they did not hearken, but did according to their old custom. |
| 41這樣，這些人民敬拜上主，又事奉他們的彫像；他們的子子孫孫也是如此：祖先怎樣行，子孫也怎樣行，直到今日。 | 41So these nations feared the Lord, but nevertheless served also their idols: their children also and grandchildren, as their fathers did, so do they unto this day. |
