¹約史雅登極時纔八歲，在耶路撒冷作王凡三十一年，他的母親名叫耶狄達，是波茲卡特人阿達雅的女兒。	¹Josias was eight years old when he began to reign: he reigned one and thirty years in Jerusalem: the name of his mother was Idida, the daughter of Hadaia, of Besecath.
²他行了上主視為正義的事，在一切事上，走了他祖先達味的路。不偏左也不偏右。	²And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, and walked in all the ways of David his father: he turned not aside to the right hand, or to the left.
³約史雅為王十八年時，派默叔藍的孫子，阿匝里雅的兒子沙番書記到上主的殿裏去，吩咐他說：	³And in the eighteenth year of king Josias, the king sent Saphan the son of Assia, the son of Messulam, the scribe of the temple of the Lord, saying to him:
⁴「你上去見大司祭希耳克雅，請他將獻於上主聖殿，和守門人由人民收來的銀錢結算清楚，	⁴Go to Helcias the high priest, that the money may be put together which is brought into the temple of the Lord, which the doorkeepers of the temple have gathered of the people.
⁵交給那些在上主殿內監工的人，叫他們發給那些在上主殿內工作和修理聖殿破壞地方的工人，	⁵And let it be given to the workmen by the overseers of the house of the Lord: and lot them distribute it to those that work in the temple of the Lord, to repair the temple:
⁶即木匠、工人和泥水匠，或購買修理聖殿的木料和鑿好的石頭。	⁶That is, to carpenters and masons, and to such as mend breaches: and that timber may be bought, and stones out of the quarries, to repair the temple of the Lord.
⁷銀子交給他們之後，不必再同他們算賬，因為他們都是辦事很忠信的人。」	⁷But let there be no reckoning made with them of the money which they receive, but let them have it in their power, and in their trust.
⁸大司祭希耳克雅對沙番書記說：「我在上主殿內發現了法律書。」希耳克雅將這卷書交給了沙番，沙番讀了。	⁸And Helcias the high priest said to Saphan the scribe: I have found the book of the law in the house of the Lord: and Helcias gave the book to Saphan, and he read it.
⁹沙番書記遂來見君王，向君王報告說：「你的僕人已將聖殿內所有的銀錢倒出來，交給了那些在上主殿內監工的人。」	⁹And Saphan the scribe came to the king, and brought him word again concerning that which he had commanded, and said: Thy servants have gathered together the money that was found in the house of the Lord, and they have given it to be distributed to the workmen, by the overseers of the works of the temple of the Lord.
¹⁰沙番書記繼而又向君王報告說：「大司祭希耳克雅交給我一卷書。」沙番就在君王面前朗讀了那書。	¹⁰And Saphan the scribe told the king, saying: Helcias the priest hath delivered to me a book. And when Saphan had read it before the king,
¹¹君王一聽了法律書上的話，就撕裂了自己的衣服，	¹¹And the king had heard the words of the law of the Lord, he rent his garments.
¹²即刻吩咐大司祭希耳克雅，沙番的兒子阿希甘，米加的兒子阿革波爾，沙番書記和君王的臣僕阿撒雅說：	¹²And he commanded Helcias the priest, and Ahicam the son of Saphan, and Achobor the son of Micha, and Saphan the scribe, and Asaia the king's servant, saying:
¹³「你們為我，為人民，為全猶大，去求問上主關於所發現的書上的話；因為我們的祖先沒有聽從這卷書上的話，也沒有按照這卷書上所記載的去實行，所以上主對我們大發忿怒。」	¹³Go and consult the Lord for me, and for the people, and for all Juda, concerning the words of this book which is found: for the great wrath of the Lord is kindled against us, because our fathers have not hearkened to the words of this book, to do all that is written for us.
¹⁴大司祭希耳克雅、阿希甘、阿革波爾、沙番和阿撒雅，於是去見住在耶路撒冷新市區，哈爾哈斯的孫子，提刻瓦的兒子，管理祭衣的沙隆的妻子，女先知胡耳達，向她說明了來意以後，	¹⁴So Helcias the priest, and Ahicam, and Achobor, and Saphan, and Asaia went to Holda the prophetess the wife of Sellum the son of Thecua, the son of Araas keeper of the wardrobe, who dwelt in Jerusalem in the Second: and they spoke to her.
¹⁵她就回答他們說：「上主以色列的天主這樣說：你們去回報那派你們來見我的人說：	¹⁵And she said to them: Thus saith the Lord the God of Israel: Tell the man that sent you to me:
¹⁶上主這樣說：看，我必要依照猶大王所讀的那卷書上的一切話：使災禍降在這地方和這地方的居民身上，	¹⁶Thus saith the Lord: Behold, I will bring evils upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, all the words of the law which the king of Juda hath read:
¹⁷因為他們捨棄了我，向別的神焚香。凡他們所做的，無不惹我動怒；所以我的怒火要向這地方發作，總不熄滅。	¹⁷Because they have forsaken me, and have sacrificed to strange gods, provoking me by all the works of their hands: therefore my indignation shall be kindled against this place, and shall not be quenched.
¹⁸至於那派你們來求問上主的猶大王，你們要這樣對他說：上主以色列的天主這樣說：你既然聽了這些話，	¹⁸But to the king of Juda, who sent you to consult the Lord, thus shall you say: Thus saith the Lord the God of Israel: Forasmuch as thou hast heard the words of the book,
¹⁹既然一聽見我指着這地和這地上的居民，說他們必要成為令人驚駭和詛咒的對象，你就動了心，在我面前自卑自賤，撕裂了自己的衣服，在我面前痛哭，因此我也應允了你：上主的斷語。	¹⁹And thy heart hath been moved to fear, and thou hast humbled thyself before the Lord, hearing the words against this place, and the inhabitants thereof, to wit, that they should become a wonder and a curse: and thou hast rent thy garments, and wept before me, I also have heard thee, saith the Lord:
²⁰我要使你與你的祖先團聚，你要平安歸到你的墳墓裏，你的眼睛也不會見到我在這地方所要降的一切災禍。」他們回去向君王報告了這話。	²⁰Therefore I will gather thee to thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered to thy sepulchre in peace, that thy eyes may not see all the evils which I will bring; upon this place.
