| 1有一個先知弟子的妻子，前來哀求厄里叟說：「你的僕人，我的丈夫死了，你知道你的僕人是一個敬畏上主的人；現在債主前來，要帶走我的兩個孩子，作他的奴隸。」 | 1Now a certain woman of the wives of the prophets cried to Eliseus, saying: Thy servant my husband is dead, and thou knowest that thy servant was one that feared God, and behold the creditor is come to take away my two sons to serve him. |
| 2厄里叟對她說：「我能為你做什麼？你告訴我：你家裏還有什麼？」她答說：「妳的婢女家裏除一瓶油外，什麼也沒有。」 | 2And Eliseus said to her: What wilt thou have me to do for thee? Tell me, what hast thou in thy house? And she answered: I thy handmaid have nothing in my house but a little oil, to anoint me. |
| 3厄里叟說：「你去，到外面向你所有的鄰居借些空器皿，不要少借； | 3And he said to her: Go, borrow of all thy neighbours empty vessels not a few. |
| 4然後回家，關上門，你和你的兒子在家裏，將油倒在所有的那些器皿內，把裝滿了的，放在一邊。」 | 4And go in, and shut thy door, when thou art within, and thy sons: and pour out thereof into all those vessels: and when they are full take them away. |
| 5她於是辭別厄里叟，回去照辦。她和她的兒子關上門，兒子給她遞器皿，她只顧倒油， | 5So the woman went, and shut the door upon her, and upon her sons: they brought her the vessels, and she poured in. |
| 6器皿都裝滿了，她對兒子說：「再遞給我器皿！」兒子答說：「沒有了。」同時油也止住了。 | 6And when the vessels were full, she said to her son: Bring me yet a vessel. And he answered: I have no more. And the oil stood. |
| 7婦人就去告訴天主的人。厄里叟對她說：「你去把油賣了，還你的債，剩下的，你和你的兒子可用來過活。」 | 7And she came, and told the man of God. And he said: Go, sell the oil, and pay thy creditor: and thou and thy sons live of the rest. |
| 8有一天，厄里叟路過叔能，那裏有一個富貴的婦人，曾挽留他吃飯；因此，厄里叟每次路過那裏，總到她家裏吃飯。 | 8And there was a day when Eliseus passed by Sunam: now there was a great woman there, who detained him to eat bread; and as he passed often that way, he turned into her house to eat bread. |
| 9婦人對丈夫說：「現在我看出：這個時常路過我們這裏的天主的人，是位聖者。 | 9And she said to her husband: I perceive that this is a holy man of God, who often passeth by us. |
| 10我們可以在房頂上，給他蓋一間小房，裏面放一張床，一張桌子，一把椅子和一盞燈；這樣，他幾時來到我們這裏，可在那裏休息。」 | 10Let us therefore make him a little chamber, and put a little bed in it for him, and a table, and a stool, and a candlestick, that when he cometh to us, he may abide there. |
| 11一天，厄里叟又到了那裏，就進入那間小房休息。 | 11Now there was a certain day when he came and turned in to the chamber, and rested there. |
| 12厄里叟吩咐自己的僕人革哈齊說：「你叫這位叔能婦人來。」僕人叫了婦人來，婦人站在先知面前， | 12And he said to Giezi his servant Call this Sunamitess. And when he had called her, and she stood before him, |
| 13厄里叟吩咐僕人說：「現在你對她說：看，你照顧我們既然這樣周到，我們可為你作什麼事呢？要不要我們在君王或軍長前為你說句話？」那婦人答說：「我住在我本國人民中很平安。」 | 13He said to his servant: Say to her Behold thou hast diligently served us in all things, what wilt thou have me to do for thee? hast thou any business, and wilt thou that I speak to the king, or to the general of the army? And she answered: I dwell in the midst of my own people. |
| 14厄里叟就問革哈齊：「我們究竟能為她作什麼？」革哈齊說：「可憐她沒有兒子，丈夫又老了。」 | 14And he said: What will she then that I do for her? And Giezi said: Do not ask, for she hath no son, and her husband is old. |
| 15厄里叟說：「快再叫她來！」僕人又將婦人叫來，這次她卻站在門口， | 15Then he bid him call her: And when she was called, and stood before the door. |
| 16厄里叟對她說：「明年這時，你必懷抱着一個兒子。」婦人答說：「我主，天主的人哪！不會！你別哄騙你的婢女！」 | 16He said to her: At this time, and this same hour, if life accompany, thou shalt have a son in thy womb. But she answered: Do not, I beseech thee, my lord, thou man of God, do not lie to thy handmaid. |
| 17這婦人果然懷了孕；過了一年，在厄里叟對她所說的時候，生了一個兒子。 | 17And the woman conceived, and brought forth a son in the time, and at the same hour, that Eliseus had said. |
| 18孩子漸漸長大，一天，他出去到收割的人那裏找他父親， | 18And the child grew. And on a certain day, when he went out to his father to the reapers, |
| 19孩子忽然對他父親喊說：「我的頭啊！我的頭啊！」他父親吩咐僕人說：「把孩子送到他母親那裏去！」 | 19He said to his father: My head acheth, my head acheth. But he said to his servant: Take him, and carry him to his mother. |
| 20僕人將他抱起，送給他母親，孩子坐在母親膝上，到了中午，就死了。 | 20And when he had taken him, and brought him to his mother, she set him on her knees until noon, and then he died. |
| 21他母親遂上了樓，將孩子放在天主的人的床上，關上門，出來， | 21And she went up and laid him upon the bed of the man of God, and shut the door: and going out, |
| 22叫自己的丈夫來說：「請你給我派一個僕人，牽一匹驢來，我要快去見見天主的人，就回來。」 | 22She called her husband, and said: Send with me, I beseech thee, one of thy servants, and an ass that I may run to the man of God, and come again. |
| 23她丈夫說：「為什麼今天要去見他，既不是朔日，又不是安息日？」婦人答說：「你放心好了！」 | 23And he said to her: Why dost thou go to him? today is neither new moon nor sabbath. She answered: I will go. |
| 24於是，她把驢備好，對僕人說：「你快趕着走，我若不吩咐，在路上不要停下來。」 | 24And she saddled an ass, and commanded her servant: Drive, and make haste, make no stay in going. And do that which I bid thee. |
| 25婦人於是來到加爾默耳山見天主的人。天主的人自遠處看見她，就對自己的僕人革哈齊說：「看，那是叔能婦人！ | 25So she went forward, and came to the man of God to mount Carmel: and when the man of God saw her coming towards, he said to Giezi his servant: Behold that Sunamitess. |
| 26現在你跑去迎接她，向她問安說：你好嗎？你的丈夫好嗎？你的孩子好嗎？」她回答說：「好。」 | 26Go therefore to meet her, and say to her: Is all well with thee, and with thy husband, and with thy son? and she answered: Well. |
| 27婦人上到山上，來到天主的人跟前，就抱住他的腳；革哈齊前來想推開她，可是天主的人說：「由她罷！因為她心中很痛苦；上主隱瞞了我，什麼也沒有告訴我。」 | 27And when she came to the man of God to the mount, she caught hold on his feet: and Giezi came to remove her. And the man of God said: Let her alone for her soul is in anguish, and the Lord hath hid it from me, and hath not told me. |
| 28那婦人說：「我何嘗向我主求過一個兒子？我豈不是說過：你不要哄騙我嗎？」 | 28And she said to him: Did I ask a son of my lord? did I not say to thee: Do not deceive me? |
| 29厄里叟對革哈齊說：「你束上腰，手裏拿着我的棍杖前去；不論遇見誰，不要向他請安；不論誰向你請安，你也不要回答。你去把我的棍杖放在孩子的臉上。」 | 29Then he said to Giezi: Gird up thy loins, and take my staff in thy hand, and go. If any man meet thee, salute him not: and if any man salute thee, answer him not: and lay my staff upon the face of the child. |
| 30孩子的母親說：「我指着永生的上主及你的性命起誓：你不去，我決不離開。」厄里叟就起身跟她去了。 | 30But the mother of the child said: As the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. He arose, therefore, and followed her. |
| 31革哈齊在他們以先去了。將棍杖放在孩子的臉上，但是沒有聲音，沒有反應；他便回來見厄里叟，告訴他說：「孩子沒有醒來。」 | 31But Giezi was gone before them, and laid the staff upon the face of the child, and there was no voice nor sense: and he returned to meet him, and told him, saying: The child is not risen. |
| 32厄里叟一來到她家，看見孩子死了，躺在自己的床上， | 32Eliseus therefore went into the house, and behold the child lay dead on his bed. |
| 33就進去，關上門，房內只有他和孩子；先知先哀求了上主， | 33And going in he shut the door upon him, and upon the child, and prayed to the Lord. |
| 34然後上床，伏在孩子身上，自己的口對住孩子的口，自己的眼對住孩子的眼，自己的手按住孩子的手，屈身伏在孩子身上，孩子的肉身便漸漸溫暖了。 | 34And he went up, and lay upon the child: and he put his mouth upon his mouth, and his eyes upon his eyes, and his hands upon his hands: and he bowed himself upon him, and the child's flesh grew warm. |
| 35然後他下來，在屋內來回走了一趟；又上去，屈身伏在孩子身上，對着孩子呵了七口氣，孩子就睜開了眼睛。 | 35Then he returned and walked in the house, once to and fro: and he went up, and lay upon him: and the child gaped seven times, and opened his eyes. |
| 36厄里叟叫革哈齊來，對他說：「你叫那叔能婦人來。」他便去叫那婦人，婦人就來了。厄里叟說：「抱起你的孩子來！」 | 36And he called Giezi, and said to him: Call this Sunamitess. And she being called, went in to him: and he said: Take up thy son. |
| 37婦人一進來，就俯伏在他腳前，叩首至地；然後起來，抱起自己的孩子出去了。 | 37She came and fell at his feet, and worshipped upon the ground: and took up her son, and went out. |
| 38厄里叟又來到基耳加耳，那地方正遭受飢荒；眾先知的弟子坐在他面前，他吩咐自己的僕人說：「你在火上放上一個火鍋，給眾先知的弟子煮些菜湯。」 | 38And Eliseus returned to Galgal, and there was a famine in the land, and the sons of the prophets dwelt before him. And he said to one of his servants: Set on the great pot, and boil pottage for the sons of the prophets. |
| 39有一個弟子出去到田間採菜，看見一棵野葡萄樹，從上面採了一滿兜野果子回來，切碎放在菜鍋裏，並不知道是什麼東西。 | 39And one went out into the field to gather wild herbs: and he found something like a wild vine, and gathered of it wild gourds of the field, and filled his mantle, and coming back he shred them into the pot of pottage, for he knew not what it was. |
| 40以後，他們把菜湯倒出來給眾人吃。眾人一嘗這菜湯，都喊叫說：「天主的人，鍋裏有致死的毒物啊！」眾人都不能吃。 | 40And they poured it out for their companions to eat: and when they had tasted of the pottage, they cried out, saying: Death is in the pot, O man of God. And they could not eat thereof. |
| 41那時厄里叟說：「拿點麵來！」他把麵撒在鍋裏說：「倒出來給眾人吃罷！」鍋裏就再沒有什麼毒了。 | 41But he said: Bring some meal. And when they had brought it, he cast it into the pot, and said: Pour out for the people, that they may eat. And there was now no bitterness in the pot. |
| 42有一個人從巴耳沙里沙來，在自己的行囊裏，給天主的人帶來了初熟大麥作的二十個餅和一些新麥穗。厄里叟說：「分給眾人吃罷！」 | 42And a certain man came from Baalsalisa bringing to the man of God bread of the firstfruits, twenty leaves of barley, and new corn in his scrip. And he said: Give to the people, that they may eat. |
| 43僕人說：「我怎能將這一點東西擺在一百人面前呢？」厄里叟說：「你儘管分給眾人吃，因為上主這樣說：眾人吃了，還有剩餘。」 | 43And his servant answered him: How much is this, that I should set it before a hundred men? He said again: Give to the people, that they may eat: for thus saith the Lord: They shall eat, and there shall be left. |
| 44於是僕人將食物擺在眾人面前，他們都吃了，並且還有剩餘，全應驗了上主的話。 | 44So he set it before them: and they ate, and there was left according to the word of the Lord. |
