¹保祿來到了德爾貝和呂斯特辣。在那裡有個門徒，名叫弟茂德，是一個信主的猶太婦人的兒子，父親卻是希臘人，	¹And he came to Derbe and Lystra. And behold, there was a certain disciple there named Timothy, the son of a Jewish woman that believed; but his father was a Gentile.
²在呂斯特辣及依科尼雍的弟兄們都稱揚他。	²To this man the brethren that were in Lystra and Iconium, gave a good testimony.
³保祿願意他隨自己同去，為了那些地方的猶太人的緣故，帶他去行了割損禮，因為眾人都知道他的父親是希臘人。	³Him Paul would have to go along with him: and taking him he circumcised him, because of the Jews who were in those places. For they all knew that his father was a Gentile.
⁴當他們經過各城時，就將宗徒和長老在耶路撒冷所議定的規條，交給他們遵守；	⁴And as they passed through the cities, they delivered unto them the decrees for to keep, that were decreed by the apostles and ancients who were at Jerusalem.
⁵於是各處教會信德穩固，數目天天增加。	⁵And the churches were confirmed in faith, and increased in number daily.
⁶聖神既阻止他們在亞細亞講道，他們就經過夫黎基雅和迦拉達地區，	⁶And when they had passed through Phrygia, and the country of Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia.
⁷到了米息雅附近，想往彼提尼雅去；可是耶穌的神不許他們去，	⁷And when they were come into Mysia, they attempted to go into Bythynia, and the Spirit of Jesus suffered them not.
⁸遂繞過米息雅，下到了特洛阿。	⁸And when they had passed through Mysia, they went down to Troas.
⁹夜間保祿見了一個異象，有個馬其頓人站着，請求他說：「請往馬其頓去，援助我們罷！」	⁹And a vision was shewed to Paul in the night, which was a man of Macedonia standing and beseeching him, and saying: Pass over into Macedonia, and help us.
¹⁰保祿既見了這異象，我們便推知是天主召叫我們給他們宣傳福音，便立即設法往馬其頓去。	¹⁰And as soon as he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go into Macedonia, being assured that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.
¹¹我們從特洛阿開船，一直航到撒摩辣刻，第二天到了乃阿頗里，	¹¹And sailing from Troas, we came with a straight course to Samothracia, and the day following to Neapolis;
¹²從那裡到了斐理伯，這是馬其頓一區的首城，羅馬的殖民地。我們就在這城裡住了幾天。	¹²And from thence to Philippi, which is the chief city of part of Macedonia, a colony. And we were in this city some days conferring together.
¹³安息日，我們出了城門，到了河邊，我們知道那裡有個祈禱所。我們遂坐下向聚集的婦女講話。	¹³And upon the sabbath day, we went forth without the gate by a river side, where it seemed that there was prayer; and sitting down, we spoke to the women that were assembled.
¹⁴有個敬畏天主的女人，名叫里狄雅，是提雅提辣城賣紫紅布的，她一直在聽；主開明了她的心，使她接受保祿所講的話。	¹⁴And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, one that worshipped God, did hear: whose heart the Lord opened to attend to those things which were said by Paul.
¹⁵她同她一家領了洗，便請求說：「你們若認為我是忠於主的人，就請到我家去住。」遂強邀我們去了。	¹⁵And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying: If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there. And she constrained us.
¹⁶當我們往祈禱所去時，有個附占卜之神的女孩，向我們迎面走來；她行占卜，使她的主人們大獲利潤。	¹⁶And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain girl, having a pythonical spirit, met us, who brought to her masters much gain by divining.
¹⁷她跟着保祿和我們，喊叫說：「這些人是至高者天主的僕人，他們來給你們宣佈得救的道路。」	¹⁷This same following Paul and us, cried out, saying: These men are the servants of the most high God, who preach unto you the way of salvation.
¹⁸她這樣行了多日，保祿就厭煩了，轉身向那惡神說：「我因耶穌基督之名，命你從她身上出去。」那惡神即刻便出去了。	¹⁸And this she did many days. But Paul being grieved, turned, and said to the spirit: I command thee, in the name of Jesus Christ, to go out from her. And he went out the same hour.
¹⁹她的主人們見自己獲利的指望已去，便揪住保祿和息拉，拉到街市上去見首領；	¹⁹But her masters, seeing that the hope of their gain was gone, apprehending Paul and Silas, brought them into the marketplace to the rulers.
²⁰又帶他們到官長前說：「這些是猶太人，他們擾亂我們的城市，	²⁰And presenting them to the magistrates, they said: These men disturb our city, being Jews;
²¹竟傳佈我們羅馬人所不能接受，也不能遵行的規例。」	²¹And preach a fashion which it is not lawful for us to receive nor observe, being Romans.
²²群眾齊來攻擊他們，官長就撕下了他們的衣服，下令用棍毆打。	²²And the people ran together against them; and the magistrates rending off their clothes, commanded them to be beaten with rods.
²³打了許多棍之後，就把他們押在監裡，吩咐獄警小心看守；	²³And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the gaoler to keep them diligently.
²⁴獄警領命，就把他們下在內監，又在他們的腳上帶上木枷。	²⁴Who having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.
²⁵約在半夜時分，保祿和息拉祈禱讚頌天主，囚犯都側耳靜聽。	²⁵And at midnight, Paul and Silas praying, praised God. And they that were in prison, heard them.
²⁶忽然地震大作，甚至監獄地基都搖動了，所有的門立時開了，眾人的鎖鏈也解開了。	²⁶And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately all the doors were opened, and the bands of all were loosed.
²⁷獄警醒來，見監門全開着，以為囚犯都已逃走，就拔出劍來，想要自殺。	²⁷And the keeper of the prison, awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the doors of the prison open, drawing his sword, would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled.
²⁸保祿大聲喊說：「不要傷害自己，我們還都在這裡。」	²⁸But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying: Do thyself no harm, for we all are here.
²⁹獄警要來了燈，就跑進去，戰慄發抖地俯伏在保祿和息拉面前，	²⁹Then calling for a light, he went in, and trembling, fell down at the feet of Paul and Silas.
³⁰然後領他們出來說：「先生，我當作什麼纔可得救？」	³⁰And bringing them out, he said: Masters, what must I do, that I may be saved?
³¹他們說：「你信主耶穌罷！你和你一家就必得救。」	³¹But they said: Believe in the Lord Jesus, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
³²他們就給他和他家所有的人，講了主的聖道。	³²And they preached the word of the Lord to him and to all that were in his house.
³³當夜在那時刻，獄警就帶他們去洗傷，他和他的親人也都領了洗；	³³And he, taking them the same hour of the night, washed their stripes, and himself was baptized, and all his house immediately.
³⁴遂又領他們到自己家裡，擺了宴席；他和全家因信了天主，都滿心喜歡。	³⁴And when he had brought them into his own house, he laid the table for them, and rejoiced with all his house, believing God.
³⁵到了天亮，官長打發侍衛來說：「釋放那些人！」	³⁵And when the day was come, the magistrates sent the serjeants, saying, Let those men go.
³⁶獄警就將這話報告給保祿說：「官長打發人來釋放你們，所以現在你們出來，平安去罷！」	³⁶And the keeper of the prison told these words to Paul: The magistrates have sent to let you go; now therefore depart, and go in peace.
³⁷可是保祿向他們說：「我們是羅馬人，還沒有定罪，就公開鞭打我們，又把我們下在監裡；現在卻要秘密地趕我們出去嗎？絕對不可！他們得親自來領我們出去！」	³⁷But Paul said to them: They have beaten us publicly, uncondemned, men that are Romans, and have cast us into prison: and now do they thrust us out privately? Not so; but let them come,
³⁸侍衛就把這話報告給官長，官長一聽他們是羅馬人，就害怕起來，	³⁸And let us out themselves. And the serjeants told these words to the magistrates. And they were afraid, hearing that they were Romans.
³⁹遂來向他們說好話，領出後，請求他們離開那城。	³⁹And coming, they besought them; and bringing them out, they desired them to depart out of the city.
⁴⁰二人出了監獄，就進了里狄雅的家，會見了弟兄們，鼓勵一番後，便起程走了。	⁴⁰And they went out of the prison, and entered into the house of Lydia; and having seen the brethren, they comforted them, and departed.
