¹德敖斐羅！我在第一部書中，已論及耶穌所行所教的一切，	¹The former treatise I made, O Theophilus, of all things which Jesus began to do and to teach,
²直到他藉聖神囑咐了所選的宗徒之後，被接去的那一天為止；	²Until the day on which, giving commandments by the Holy Ghost to the apostles whom he had chosen, he was taken up.
³他受難以後，用了許多憑據，向他們顯明自己還活着，四十天之久顯現給他們，講論天主國的事。	³To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion, by many proofs, for forty days appearing to them, and speaking of the kingdom of God.
⁴耶穌與他們一起進食時，吩咐他們不要離開耶路撒冷，但要等候父的恩許，即你們聽我所說過的：	⁴And eating together with them, he commanded them, that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but should wait for the promise of the Father, which you have heard (saith he) by my mouth.
^5「若翰固然以水施了洗，但不多幾天以後，你們要因聖神受洗。」	⁵For John indeed baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost, not many days hence.
⁶他們聚集的時候，就問耶穌說：「主，是此時要給以色列復興國家嗎？」	⁶They therefore who were come together, asked him, saying: Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
⁷他回答說：「父以自己的權柄所定的時候和日期，不是你們應當知道的；	⁷But he said to them: It is not for you to know the times or moments, which the Father hath put in his own power:
⁸但當聖神降臨於你們身上時，你們將充滿聖神的德能，要在耶路撒冷及全猶太和撒瑪黎雅，並直到地極，為我作證人。」	⁸But you shall receive the power of the Holy Ghost coming upon you, and you shall be witnesses unto me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and Samaria, and even to the uttermost part of the earth.
⁹耶穌說完這些話，就在他們觀望中，被舉上升，有塊雲彩接了他去，離開他們的眼界。	⁹And when he had said these things, while they looked on, he was raised up: and a cloud received him out of their sight.
¹⁰他們向天注視着他上升的時候，忽有兩個穿白衣的人站在他們前，	¹⁰And while they were beholding him going up to heaven, behold two men stood by them in white garments.
¹¹向他們說：「加里肋亞人！你們為甚麼站着望天呢﹖這位離開你們，被接到天上去的耶穌，你們看見他怎樣升了天，也要怎樣降來。」	¹¹Who also said: Ye men of Galilee, why stand you looking up to heaven? This Jesus who is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come, as you have seen him going into heaven.
¹²那時，他們從名叫橄欖的山上，回了耶路撒冷，這山離耶路撒冷不遠，有一安息日的路程。	¹²Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount that is called Olivet, which is nigh Jerusalem, within a sabbath day's journey.
¹³他們進了城，就上了那座他們所居住的樓房，在那裏有伯多祿、若望、雅各伯、安德肋、斐理伯、多默、巴爾多祿茂、瑪竇、阿耳斐的兒子雅各伯、熱誠者西滿及雅各伯的兄弟猶達。	¹³And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode Peter and John, James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James of Alpheus, and Simon Zelotes, and Jude the brother of James.
¹⁴這些人同一些婦女及耶穌的母親瑪利亞並他的兄弟，都同心合意地專務祈禱。	¹⁴All these were persevering with one mind in prayer with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.
¹⁵有一天，伯多祿起來站在弟兄們中間說：──當時在一起的眾人大約共有一百二十名──	¹⁵In those days Peter rising up in the midst of the brethren, said: (now the number of persons together was about an hundred and twenty:)
¹⁶「諸位仁人弟兄！聖神藉達味的口，關於領導逮捕耶穌的猶達斯所預言的經文，必須應驗。	¹⁶Men, brethren, the scripture must needs be fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost spoke before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who was the leader of them that apprehended Jesus:
¹⁷他本來是我們中間的一位，分佔了這職務的一分；	¹⁷Who was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry.
¹⁸但這人竟用不義的代價買了一塊田地，他倒頭墮下，腹部崩裂，一切臟腑都流了出來。	¹⁸And he indeed hath possessed a field of the reward of iniquity, and being hanged, burst asunder in the midst: and all his bowels gushed out.
¹⁹耶路撒冷的居民盡人皆知，為此，他們以本地話稱那塊田地為「哈刻達瑪」，就是「血田」的意思。	¹⁹And it became known to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem: so that the same field was called in their tongue, Haceldama, that is to say, The field of blood.
²⁰原來在《聖詠集》上曾記載說：『願他的居所變成荒土，沒有人在那裏居住。』又說：『讓人取去他的職位。』	²⁰For it is written in the book of Psalms: Let their habitation become desolate, and let there be none to dwell therein. And his bishopric let another take.
²¹所以必須從這些人中，即主耶穌在我們中間來往的所有時期內，常同我們在一起的人中，	²¹Wherefore of these men who have companied with us all the time that the Lord Jesus came in and went out among us,
²²由若翰施洗起，直到耶穌從我們中被接去的日子止，由這些人中，應當有一個同我們一起作他復活的見證人。」	²²Beginning from the baptism of John, until the day wherein he was taken up from us, one of these must be made a witness with us of his resurrection.
²³他們便提出了名叫巴爾撒巴，號稱猶斯托的若瑟，和瑪弟亞兩個人。	²³And they appointed two, Joseph, called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.
²⁴他們就祈禱說：「主，你認識眾人的心，求你指示，這兩個人中，你揀選了那一個，	²⁴And praying, they said: Thou, Lord, who knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen,
²⁵使他取得這職務的地位，即宗徒的職位，因為猶達斯放棄了這職位，去了他自己的地方。」	²⁵To take the place of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas hath by transgression fallen, that he might go to his own place.
²⁶他們給二人拈鬮，瑪弟亞中了鬮，就列入十一位宗徒之中。	²⁶And they gave them lots, and the lot fell upon Matthias, and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.
