¹上主照所許的，眷顧了撒辣；上主對撒辣實踐了他所說的話。	¹And the Lord visited Sara, as he had promised: and fulfilled what he had spoken.
²撒辣懷了孕，在天主所許的時期，給年老的亞巴郎生了一個兒子。	²And she conceived and bore a son in her old age, at the time that God had foretold her.
³亞巴郎為撒辣給他所生的兒子，起名叫依撒格。	³And Abraham called the name of his son, whom Sara bore him, Isaac.
⁴生後第八天，亞巴郎照天主所吩咐的給自己的兒子依撒格行了割損。	⁴And he circumcised him the eighth day, as God had commanded him,
⁵他兒子依撒格誕生時，亞巴郎正一百歲；	⁵When he was a hundred years old: for at this age of his father was Isaac born.
⁶為此撒辣說：「天主使我笑，凡聽見的也要與我一同笑。」	⁶And Sara said: God hath made a laughter for me: whosoever shall hear of it will laugh with me.
⁷又說：「誰能告訴亞巴郎，撒辣要哺養兒子呢？可是我在他老年，卻給他生了個兒子。」	⁷And again she said: Who would believe that Abraham should hear that Sara gave suck to a son, whom she bore to him in his old age.
⁸孩子漸漸長大，斷了乳；在依撒格斷乳的那天，亞巴郎擺了盛宴。	⁸And the child grew and was weaned: and Abraham made a great feast on the day of his weaning.
⁹撒辣見那埃及女人哈加爾給亞巴郎生的兒子，戲笑自己的兒子依撒格，	⁹And when Sara had seen the son of Agar the Egyptian playing with Isaac her son, she said to Abraham:
¹⁰就對亞巴郎說：「你該趕走這婢女和她的兒子，因為這婢女的兒子不能和我的兒子依撒格一同承受家業。」	¹⁰Cast out this bondwoman, and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with my son Isaac.
¹¹亞巴郎為了他這兒子的事很是苦惱。	¹¹Abraham took this grievously for his son.
¹²但天主對亞巴郎說：「你不必為這孩子和你的婢女苦惱；凡撒辣對你說的，你都可聽從，因為只有藉依撒格你的名才能傳後。	¹²And God said to him: Let it not seem grievous to thee for the boy, and for thy bondwoman: in all that Sara hath said to thee, hearken to her voice: for in Isaac shall thy seed be called.
¹³至於這婢女的兒子，我也要使他成為一大民族，因為他也是你的孩子。」	¹³But I will make the son also of the bondwoman a great nation, because he is thy seed.
¹⁴第二天，亞巴郎清早起來，拿了餅和一皮囊水，交給哈加爾，放在她肩上，又將孩子交給她，打發她走了。她一路前行，在貝爾舍巴曠野迷失了路。	¹⁴So Abraham rose up in the morning, and taking bread and a bottle of water, put it upon her shoulder, and delivered the boy, and sent her away. And she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Bersabee.
¹⁵那時皮囊裏的水已用盡，她把孩子丟在一堆小樹下，	¹⁵And when the water in the bottle was spent, she cast the boy under one of the trees that were there.
¹⁶自己走開，在約離一箭之遠的對面坐下，自言自語說：「我不忍見這孩子夭折。」就坐在對面放聲大哭。	¹⁶And she went her way, and sat over against him a great way off as far as a bow can carry, for she said: I will not see the boy die: and sitting over against, she lifted up her voice and wept.
¹⁷天主聽見孩子啼哭，天主的使者由天上呼喚哈加爾說：「哈加爾！你有什麼事？不要害怕，因為天主已聽見孩子在那裏的哭聲。	¹⁷And God heard the voice of the boy: and an angel of God called to Agar from heaven, saying: What art thou doing, Agar? fear not: for God hath heard the voice of the boy, from the place wherein he is.
¹⁸起來，去扶起孩子來，用手攙著他，因為我要使他成為一大民族。」	¹⁸Arise, take up the boy, and hold him by the hand: for I will make him a great nation.
¹⁹天主於是開了她的眼，她看見了一口水井，遂去將皮囊灌滿了水，給孩子喝。	¹⁹And God opened her eyes: and she saw a well of water, and went and filled the bottle, and gave the boy to drink.
²⁰天主與孩子同在，他漸漸長大，住在曠野，成了個弓手。	²⁰And God was with him: and he grew, and dwelt in the wilderness, and became a young man, an archer.
²¹他住在帕蘭曠野；他母親由埃及地給他娶了一個妻子。	²¹And he dwelt in the wilderness of Pharan, and his mother took a wife for him out of the land of Egypt.
²²那時阿彼默肋客同他的司令非苛耳對亞巴郎說：「在你所作的一切事上，天主常與你同在。	²²At the same time Abimelech, and Phicol the general of his army said to Abraham: God is with thee in all that thou dost.
²³現在你在這裏要指著天主對我起誓：總不要虧待我和我的子子孫孫。我怎樣厚待了你，你也要怎樣厚待我和你寄居的地方。」	²³Swear therefore by God, that thou wilt not hurt me, nor my posterity, nor my stock: but according to the kindness that I have done to thee, thou shalt do to me, and to the land wherein thou hast lived a stranger.
²⁴亞巴郎回答說：「我願起誓。」	²⁴And Abraham said: I will swear.
²⁵亞巴郎為了阿彼默肋客的僕人霸佔了一口水井，就責斥阿彼默肋客。	²⁵And he reproved Abimelech for a well of water, which his servants had taken away by force.
²⁶阿彼默肋客回答說：「我不知道誰作了這事，你也沒有通知我，我到今天才聽說。」	²⁶And Abimelech answered: I knew not who did this thing: and thou didst not tell me, and I heard not of it till today.
²⁷亞巴郎遂把牛羊交給阿彼默肋客，二人互相立了約。	²⁷And Abraham took sheep and oxen and gave them to Abimelech: and both of them made a league.
²⁸亞巴郎又將羊群中七隻母羔羊，另放在一邊。	²⁸And Abraham set apart seven ewe lambs of the flock.
²⁹阿彼默肋客問亞巴郎說：「將這七隻母羔羊另放在一邊，請問有什麼意思？」	²⁹And Abimelech said to him: What mean these seven ewe lambs which thou hast set apart?
³⁰他答說：「你要由我手中接受這七隻母羔羊，作我挖了這口水井的憑據。」	³⁰But he said: Thou shalt take seven ewe lambs at my hand: that they may be a testimony for me, that I dug this well.
³¹因為他們二人在那裏起了誓，為此那地方叫做貝爾舍巴。	³¹Therefore that place was called Bersabee: because there both of them did swear.
³²他們在貝爾舍巴立了約，阿彼默肋客同他的司令非苛耳起身回培肋舍特地去了。	³²And they made a league for the well of oath.
³³亞巴郎在貝爾舍巴栽了一株檉柳，在那裏呼求了上主，永恒天主的名。	³³And Abimelech, and Phicol the general of his army arose and returned to the land of the Palestines. But Abraham planted a grove in Bersabee, and there called upon the name of the Lord God eternal.
³⁴亞巴郎在培肋舍特人地內住了許久。	³⁴And he was a sojourner in the land of the Palestines many days.
