| 1達理阿王二年六月初一，有上主的話藉哈蓋先知傳給沙耳提耳的兒子猶大省長則魯巴貝耳，和約匝達克的兒子大司祭耶叔亞說： | 1In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, the word of the Lord came by the hand of Aggeus the prophet, to Zorobabel the son of Salathiel, governor of Juda, and to Jesus the son of Josedec the high priest, saying: |
| 2萬軍的上主這樣說：這百姓說：「建築上主殿宇的時候還沒有到！」 | 2Thus saith the Lord of hosts, saying: This people saith: The time is not yet come for building the house of the Lord. |
| 3於是有上主的話藉哈蓋先知說： | 3And the word of the Lord came by the hand of Aggeus the prophet, saying: |
| 4「當這座殿宇還是一堆廢墟時，難道為你們就到了住在有天花板的房屋的時候？ | 4Is it time for you to dwell in ceiled houses, and this house lie desolate? |
| 5如今萬軍的上主這樣說：你們應細心考慮一下你們的行徑！ | 5And now thus saith the Lord of hosts: Set your hearts to consider your ways. |
| 6你們播種的多，卻收割的少；你們吃，卻總吃不飽；你們喝，卻總喝不夠；你們穿衣，卻總不覺溫暖；賺了工資，無異是將工資投進了破囊。 | 6You have sowed much, and brought in little: you have eaten, but have not had enough: you have drunk, but have not been filled with drink: you have clothed yourselves, but have not been warmed: and he that hath earned wages, put them into a bag with holes. |
| 7萬軍的上主這樣說：你們應細心考慮一下你們的行徑！ | 7Thus saith the Lord of hosts: Set Your hearts upon your ways: |
| 8你們應上山去，搬運木材，建造殿宇！我必因此喜悅，並發顯光榮──上主說。 | 8Go up to the mountain, bring timber, and build the house: and it shall be acceptable to me, and I shall be glorified, saith the Lord. |
| 9你們期望豐收，看，反而歉收；你們運到家裏，我反把它吹散；這是為了什麼？──萬軍上主的斷語──是為了我的殿宇尚在荒廢，而你們竟各自趕造自己的房屋。 | 9You have looked for more, and behold it became less, and you brought it home, and I blowed it away: why, saith the Lord of hosts? because my house is desolate, and you make haste every man to his own house. |
| 10為此，上天對你們停降雨露，大地也停止了出產， | 10Therefore the heavens over you were stayed from giving dew, and the earth was hindered from yielding her fruits: |
| 11因為我向大地、群山、五穀、新酒、新油、田地的出產、人畜和手中的一切工作招來了旱災。」 | 11And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the wine, and upon the oil, and upon all that the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon beasts, and upon all the labour of the hands. |
| 12於是沙耳提耳的兒子則魯巴貝耳，約匝達克的兒子大司祭耶叔亞，以及全體遺民都聽從了上主，他們天主的聲音，也聽從了上主，他們的天主給他們派遣來的哈蓋先知的話；因此百姓在上主面前都起了敬畏的心。 | 12Then Zorobabel the son of Salathiel, and Jesus the son of Josedec the high priest, and all the remnant of the people hearkened to the voice of the Lord their God, and to the words of Aggeus the prophet, as the Lord their God sent him to them: and the people feared before the Lord. |
| 13上主的使者哈蓋就以上主使者的名義向人民說：我與你們同在──上主的斷語。 | 13And Aggeus the messenger of the Lord, as one of the messengers of the Lord, spoke, saying to the people: I am with you, saith the Lord. |
| 14於是上主振興起了沙耳提耳的兒子猶大省長則魯巴貝耳的精神，以及約匝達克的兒子大司祭耶叔亞的精神，和全體遺民的精神，他們便都前來興工建造萬軍的上主，他們的天主的聖殿。 | 14And the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zorobabel the son of Salathiel governor of Juda, and the spirit of Jesus the son of Josedec the high priest, and the spirit of all the rest of the people: and they went in, and did the work in the house of the Lord of hosts their God. |
