| 1七月二十一日，上主有話藉哈蓋先知說： | 1In the four and twentieth day of the month, in the sixth month, in the second year of Darius the king, they began. |
| 2「請你對沙耳提耳的兒子猶大省長則魯巴貝耳，和約匝達克的兒子大司祭耶叔亞以及遺民說： | 2And in the seventh month, the word of the Lord came by the hand of Aggeus the prophet, saying: |
| 3你們這些遺民中，凡見過這座殿宇在昔日的光榮之中的，你們現在看它怎樣？在你們眼中，豈不是如沒有一樣？ | 3Speak to Zorobabel the son of Salathiel the governor of Juda, and to Jesus the son of Josedec the high priest, and to the rest of the people, saying: |
| 4但是如今，則魯巴貝耳，努力！──上主的斷語。約匝達克的兒子大司祭耶叔亞，努力！境內全體民眾，努力！──上主的斷語。努力工作罷！因為我與你們同在──萬軍上主的斷語。 | 4Who is left among you, that saw this house in its first glory? and how do you see it now? is it not in comparison to that as nothing in your eyes? |
| 5【這是我在你們出離埃及時，與你們訂立的盟約：】我的神常存在你們中間，你們不要害怕。 | 5Yet now take courage, O Zorobabel, saith the Lord, and take courage, O Jesus the son of Josedec the high priest, and take courage, all ye people of the land, saith the Lord of hosts: and perform (for I am with you, saith the Lord of hosts) |
| 6因為萬軍的上主這樣說：再過不久，我要震動天地海陸， | 6The word that I covenanted with you when you came out of the land of Egypt: and my spirit shall be in the midst of you: fear not. |
| 7震動萬民，使萬民的珍寶運來；我必使這殿宇充滿榮耀──萬軍的上主說。 | 7For thus saith the Lord of hosts: Yet one little while, and I will move the heaven and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land. |
| 8銀子是我的，金子也是我的──萬軍上主的斷語。 | 8And I will move all nations: AND THE DESIRED OF ALL NATIONS SHALL COME: and I will fill this house with glory: saith the Lord of hosts. |
| 9這座後起的殿宇的光榮，比以前那座所享有的還要大──萬軍的上主說；在此地我要頒賜和平──萬軍上主的斷語。」 | 9The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the Lord of hosts. |
| 10達理阿王二年九月二十四日，上主的話傳給哈蓋先知說： | 10Great shall be the glory of this last house more than of the first, saith the Lord of hosts: and in this place I will give peace, saith the Lord of hosts. |
| 11萬軍的上主這樣說：請你去詢問司祭們這件有關法律的事說： | 11In the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius the king, the word of the Lord came to Aggeus the prophet, saying: |
| 12「如果有人用自己的衣襟攜帶了聖肉，然後又用自己的衣襟接觸麵餅，或湯，或酒，或油，或其他的食物，這些東西是否也成了聖的？」司祭們答說：「不。」 | 12Thus saith the Lord of hosts: Ask the priests the law, saying: |
| 13哈蓋又問說：「如果一個因接觸屍體而陷於不潔的人，觸摸了這些東西，是否這些東西也成了不潔的？」司祭們答說：「成了不潔的。」 | 13If a man carry sanctified flesh in the skirt of his garment, and touch with his skirt, bread, or pottage, or wine, or oil, or any meat: shall it be sanctified? And the priests answered, and said: No. |
| 14於是哈蓋答說：「這百姓就是這樣，這民族在我面前就是這樣──上主的斷語；他們手中的一切工作都是這樣；凡他們在這裏所獻的，都是不潔的。 | 14And Aggeus said: If one that is unclean by occasion of a soul touch any of all these things, shall it be defiled? And the priests answered, and said: It shall be defiled. |
| 15但是現在，從今日起回頭想想：在上主的殿還沒有石上壘石以前， | 15And Aggeus answered, and said: So is this people, and so is this nation before my face, saith the Lord, and so is all the work of their hands: and all that they have offered there, shall be defiled. |
| 16那時你們怎樣？有人來收二十斗，卻只有十斗；有人來到榨油池舀五十桶卻只有二十桶。 | 16And now consider in your hearts, from this day and upward, before there was a stone laid upon a stone in the temple of the Lord. |
| 17我以熱風，以霉爛，以冰雹打擊了你們手中的一切工作，而你們仍沒有歸向我──上主的斷語。 | 17When you went to a heap of twenty bushels, and they became ten: and you went into the press, to press out fifty vessels, and they became twenty. |
| 18請你們由今日起，留心注意，即由九月二十四日，上主殿宇的奠基日起，請你們留心注意： | 18I struck you with a blasting wind, and all the works of your hand with the mildew and with hail, yet there was none among you that returned to me, saith the Lord. |
| 19倉房裏不是還沒有種子嗎？葡萄樹、無花果樹、石榴樹和橄欖樹，不是還沒有結果子嗎？從今天起，我必要祝福你！」 | 19Set your hearts from this day, and henceforward, from the four and twentieth day of the ninth month: from the day that the foundations of the temple of the Lord were laid, and lay it up in your hearts. |
| 20同月二十四日，上主的話再傳給哈蓋說： | 20Is the seed as yet sprung up? or hath the vine, and the fig tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive tree as yet flourished? from this day I will bless you. |
| 21你要向猶大省長則魯巴貝耳說：我要震動天地， | 21And the word of the Lord came a second time to Aggeus in the four and twentieth day of the month, saying: |
| 22推翻列國的寶座；我要毀滅異邦列國的勢力，我要推翻戰車和駕車的人，戰馬與騎士個個必倒在自己兄弟的刀下。 | 22Speak to Zorobabel the governor of Juda, saying: I will move both heaven and earth. |
| 23在那一天──萬軍上主的斷語──沙耳提耳的兒子，我的僕人則魯巴貝耳！我必提拔你──上主的斷語──我必以你作印璽，因為我揀選了你──萬軍上主的斷語。 | 23And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and will destroy the strength of the kingdom of the Gentiles: and I will overthrow the chariot, and him that rideth therein: and the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother. |
| 24 | 24In that day, saith the Lord of hosts, I will take thee, O Zorobabel the son of Salathiel, my servant, saith the Lord, and will make thee as a signet, for I have chosen thee, saith the Lord of hosts. |
