| 1當以色列尚在童年時，我就愛了他；從在埃及時，我就召叫他為我的兒子。 | 1As the morning passeth, so hath the king of Israel passed away. Because Israel was a child, and I loved him: and I called my son out of Egypt. |
| 2可是我越呼喚他們，他們越遠離我，去給巴耳獻祭，向偶像進香。 | 2As they called them, they went away from before their face: they offered victims to Baalim, and sacrificed to idols. |
| 3是我教了厄弗辣因邁步，雙臂抱着他們，但他們卻不理會是我照顧了他們。 | 3And I was like a foster father to Ephraim, I carried them in my arms: and they knew not that I healed them. |
| 4是我用仁慈的繩索，愛情的帶子牽着他們，我對他們有如高舉嬰兒到自己面頰的慈親，俯身餵養他們。 | 4I will draw them with the cords of Adam, with the bands of love: and I will be to them as one that taketh off the yoke on their jaws: and I put his meat to him that he might eat. |
| 5他們卻要返回埃及地，要亞述作他們的君王，因為他們拒絕歸依我。 | 5He shall not return into the land of Egypt, but the Assyrian shall be his king: because they would not be converted. |
| 6刀劍必要在他們的城中橫行，殺絕他們的子女，在他們的堡壘中吞噬他們。 | 6The sword hath begun in his cities, and it shall consume his chosen men, and shall devour their heads. |
| 7我的百姓因着自己的叛逆使我厭煩了；為此上主給他們指定應負的重軛，因為他已不再憐惜他們。 | 7And my people shall long for my return: but a yoke shall be put upon them together, which shall not be taken off. |
| 8厄弗辣因！我怎能捨棄你？以色列！我怎能拋掉你？我怎能使你如同阿德瑪，待你如同責波殷？我的心已轉變，我的五內已感動； | 8How shall I deal with thee, O Ephraim, shall I protect thee, O Israel? how shall I make thee as Adama, shall I set thee as Seboim? my heart is turned within me, my repentance is stirred up. |
| 9我不再按我的盛怒行事，不再毀滅厄弗辣因，因為我是天主而不是人，是在你中間的聖者，而不是伏於城門的仇敵。 | 9I will not execute the fierceness of my wrath: I will not return to destroy Ephraim: because I am God, and not man: the holy one in the midst of thee, and I will not enter into the city. |
| 10的確，他們必要追隨上主，他要像獅子吼叫；他一吼叫，他的子女便要從西方急速歸來， | 10They shall walk after the Lord, he shall roar as a lion: because he shall roar, and the children of the sea shall fear. |
| 11猶如飛鳥由埃及急速飛來，猶如鴿子從亞述飛來；我要使他們安居在他們的家中──上主的斷語。 | 11And they shall fly away like a bird out of Egypt, and like a dove out of the land of the Assyrians: and I will place them in their own houses, saith the Lord. |
| 12 | 12Ephraim hath compassed me about with denials, and the house of Israel with deceit: but Juda went down as a witness with God, and is faithful with the saints. |
