| 1當烏齊雅的孫子，約堂的兒子阿哈次為猶大王時，阿蘭王勒斤和以色列王勒瑪里雅的兒子培卡黑，上來攻打耶路撒冷，但是不能攻陷。 | 1And it came to pass in the days of Achaz the son of Joathan, the son of Ozias, king of Juda, that Basin king of Syria, and Phacee the son of Romelia king of Israel, came up to Jerusalem, to fight against it: but they could not prevail over it. |
| 2有人報告達味家說：「阿蘭已經駐紮在厄弗辣因！」君王與人民都膽戰心驚，有如風中搖動的樹木。 | 2And they told the house of David, saying: Syria hath rested upon Ephraim, and his heart was moved, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the woods are moved with the wind. |
| 3上主對依撒意亞說：「你和你的兒子舍阿爾雅叔布出去，到上池的水溝盡頭，即漂工田間的大道上，去會見阿哈次； | 3And the Lord said to Isaias: Go forth to meet Achaz, thou and Jasub thy son that is left, to the conduit of the upper pool, a in the way of the fuller's held. |
| 4對他說：你必須審慎，保持鎮定，不必畏懼，不要因那兩個冒煙的火把頭──即勒斤、阿蘭和勒瑪里雅之子──的怒火而膽怯。 | 4And thou shalt say to him: See thou be quiet: fear not, and let not thy heart be afraid of the two tails of these fire brands, smoking with the wrath of the fury of Rasin king of Syria, and of the son of Romelia. |
| 5雖然阿蘭、厄弗辣因和勒瑪里雅的兒子同謀，迫害你說： | 5Because Syria hath taken counsel against thee, unto the evil of Ephraim and the son of Romelia, saying: |
| 6我們上猶大去，擾亂她，把她佔領過來歸於我們，並在那裏立塔貝耳的兒子為王； | 6Let us go up to Juda, and rouse it up, and draw it away to us, and make the son of Tabeel king in the midst thereof. |
| 7但是吾主上主卻這樣說：這事決不能成立，亦不能發生！ | 7Thus saith the Lord God: It shall not stand, and this shall not be. |
| 8因為阿蘭的首都是大馬士革，大馬士革的首領是勒斤； | 8But the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Basin: and within threescore and five years, Ephraim shall cease to be a people: |
| 9厄弗辣因的首都是撒瑪黎雅，撒瑪黎雅的首領是勒瑪里雅的兒子。 | 9And the head of Ephraim is Samaria and the head of Samaria the son of Romelia. If you will not believe, you shall not continue. |
| 8【六年或五年以後，阿蘭將被消滅，厄弗辣因將要衰敗。】 | 10And the Lord spoke again to Achaz, saying: |
| 9假使你們不肯相信，你們必然不能存立。」 | 11Ask thee a sign of the Lord thy God either unto the depth of hell, or unto the height above. |
| 10上主又對阿哈次說： | 12And Achaz said: I will not ask, and I will not tempt the Lord. |
| 11「你向上主你的天主要求一個徵兆罷！或求諸陰府深處，或求諸上天高處。」 | 13And he said: Hear ye therefore, O house of David: Is it a small thing for you to be grievous to men, that you are grievous to my God also? |
| 12阿哈次回答說：「我不要求，我不願試探上主。」 | 14Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign. Behold a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and his name shall be called Emmanuel. |
| 13依撒意亞說：「達味的家族，你們聽着罷！你們使人厭惡還不夠，還要使我的天主厭惡嗎？ | 15He shall eat butter and honey, that he may know to refuse the evil, and to choose the good. |
| 14因此，吾主要親自給你們一個徵兆：看，有位貞女要懷孕生子，給他起名叫厄瑪奴耳。 | 16For before the child know to refuse the evil, and to choose the good, the land which thou abhorrest shall be forsaken of the face of her two kings. |
| 15到他知道棄惡擇善的時候，要吃乳酪和蜂蜜； | 17The Lord shall bring upon thee, and upon thy people, and upon the house of thy father, days that have not come since the time of the separation of Ephraim from Juda with the king of the Assyrians. |
| 16因為在這孩子尚未知道棄惡擇善以前，你在那兩個君王面前所擔心的國土，必將荒廢。 | 18And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall hiss for the fly, that is in the uttermost parts of the rivers of Egypt, and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria. |
| 17上主必使患難的日子臨於你、你的百姓和你的父家身上；這是從厄弗辣因叛離猶大那一天所未有過的，【即亞述王加禍的日子】。 | 19And they shall come, and shall all of them rest in the torrents of the valleys, and in the holes of the rocks, and upon all places set with shrubs, and in all hollow places. |
| 18那一日，上主要喚來埃及大河盡頭的蠅和亞述境內的蜂， | 20In that day the Lord shall shave with a razor that is hired by them that are beyond the river, by the king of the Assyrians, the head and the hairs of the feet, and the whole beard. |
| 19牠們將要前來，一起落在荒谷、巖穴，以及一切荊棘叢中和一切水溝上。 | 21And it shall come to pass in that day, that a man shall nourish a young cow, and two sheep. |
| 20那一日，吾主要用由大河那邊借來的剃刀【即亞述王】剃去你的頭髮和恥毛，連鬍鬚也要刮掉。 | 22And for the abundance of milk he shall eat butter: for butter and honey shall every one eat that shall be left in the midst of the land. |
| 21到那一日，人僅能餵養一隻牛犢和兩隻母山羊， | 23And it shall come to pass in that day, that every place where there were a thousand vines, at a thousand pieces of silver, shall become thorns and briers. |
| 22因為出奶很多，人將以乳酪為食，因而境內所有的遺民，都將以乳酪和蜂蜜為食。 | 24With arrows and with bows they shall go in thither: for briars and thorns shall be in all the land. |
| 23到那一日，先前所有種植一千棵葡萄，值一千塊銀子的地方，必將叢生荊棘和蒺藜。 | 25And as for all the hills that shall be raked with a rake, the fear of thorns and briers shall not come thither, but they shall be for the ox to feed on, and the lesser cattle to tread upon. |
| 24人往那裏去，必須攜帶弓箭，因為遍地都是荊棘和蒺藜。 | 26 |
| 25先前用鋤頭開墾的山地，沒有人敢到那裏，因為害怕荊棘蒺藜。那裏將成為放牛和羊群踐踏的地區。 | 27 |
