| 1上主對我說：「你拿一塊大板，用通用的字體在上面寫『瑪赫爾、沙拉耳、哈市、巴次』。」 | 1And the Lord said to me: Take thee a great book, and write in it with a man's pen. Take sway the spoils with speed, quickly take the prey. |
| 2我就叫了兩個忠直的證人，即司祭烏黎雅和耶貝勒基雅的兒子則加黎雅，為我作證。 | 2And I took unto me faithful witnesses, Urias the priest, and Zacharias the son of Barachias. |
| 3我接近了女先知，她便懷孕，生了一個兒子；上主對我說：「你給他起名叫瑪赫爾沙拉耳哈市巴次， | 3And I went to the prophetess, and she conceived, and bore a son. And the Lord said to me: Call his name, Hasten to take away the spoils: Make haste to take away the prey. |
| 4因為在這孩子會喊『爸爸』『媽媽』以前，大馬士革的財富和撒瑪黎雅的贓物必要運到亞述王前。」 | 4For before the child know to call his father and his mother, the strength of Damascus, and the spoils of Samaria shall be taken away before the king of the Assyrians. |
| 5上主又曉諭我說： | 5And the Lord spoke to me again, saying: |
| 6因為這民族厭棄了緩緩徐流的史羅亞水，因而在勒斤和勒瑪里雅之子面前驚慌； | 6Forasmuch as this people hath cast away the waters of Siloe, that go with silence, and hath rather taken Basin, and the son of Romelia: |
| 7為此，看，吾主必使洶湧澎湃的河水──即亞述王和他所有的軍隊──上來淹沒他們；他必將瀉出一切河道，溢出一切河岸， | 7Therefore behold the Lord will bring upon them the waters of the river strong and many, the king of the Assyrians, and all his glory: and he shall come up over all his channels, and shall overflow all his banks, |
| 8直沖入猶大，漲溢氾濫，高達人的頸項。厄瑪奴耳啊！他展開的兩翼，將掩蓋你廣闊的疆土！ | 8And shall pass through Juda, overflowing, and going over shall reach even to the neck. And the stretching out of his wings shall fill the breadth of thy land, O Emmanuel. |
| 9眾民啊！覺悟罷！你們終必喪膽！遠方的一切民族啊！聆聽罷！任憑你們怎樣束腰，終必喪膽！任憑你們怎樣束腰，終必喪膽。 | 9Gather yourselves together, O ye people, and be overcome, and give ear, all ye lands afar off: strengthen yourselves, and be overcome, gird yourselves, and be overcome. |
| 10你們雖然策劃，必然落空；你們雖然說定，決不能實現，因為天主與我們同在。 | 10Take counsel together, and it shall be defeated: speak a word, and it shall not be done: because God is with us. |
| 11當上主以手握住我，警惕我不要走這民族的道路時，這樣對我說： | 11For thus saith the Lord to me: As he hath taught me, with a strong arm, that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying: |
| 12這民族稱為聖的，你們不得稱之為聖！他們畏懼的，你們不必畏懼，也不必戰兢！ | 12Say ye not: A conspiracy: for all that this people speaketh, is a conspiracy: neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid. |
| 13萬軍的上主，你們惟應以他為聖；他是你們當敬畏的，是你們當恐懼的。 | 13Sanctify the Lord of hosts himself: and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread. |
| 14他將是以色列兩家的絆腳石和失足的暗礁，是耶路撒冷居民的羅網和陷阱。 | 14And he shall be a sanctification to you. But for a stone or stumbling, and for a rock of offence to the two houses of Israel, for a snare and a ruin to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. |
| 15他們中間有許多人將失足跌倒而折傷，陷於圈套而被捕。 | 15And very many of them shall stumble and fall, and shall be broken in pieces, and shall be snared, and taken. |
| 16證件已綁好，訓誨在我門徒中已封緘， | 16Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples. |
| 17我只仰望那位現在轉面不顧雅各伯家的上主，我要等待他。 | 17And I will wait for the Lord, who hath hid his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him. |
| 18看哪！我和上主賞給我的孩子，在以色列中成了標識和預兆：這原是出於住在熙雍山上的萬軍的上主！ | 18Behold I and my children, whom the Lord hath given me for a sign, and for a wonder in Israel from the Lord of hosts, who dwelleth in mount Sion. |
| 19有人或對你們說：「你們詢問那些喃喃細語的巫覡和術士罷！百姓豈不能詢問自己的神，為活人而詢問幽魂嗎？」 | 19And when they shall say to you: Seek of pythons, and of diviners, who mutter in their enchantments: should not the people seek of their God, for the living of the dead? |
| 20「應到訓誨和證件中去尋！」誰若不照這話答覆，為他便沒有曙光。 | 20To the law rather, and to the testimony. And if they speak not according to this word, they shall not have the morning light. |
| 21人將忍受着痛苦和飢餓，經過此地；當他由於飢餓而暴發忿怒時，必詛咒自己的君王和自己的神明；他無論仰望上天， | 21And they shall pass by it, they shall fall, and be hungry: and when they shall be hungry, they will be angry, and curse their king, and their God, and look upwards. |
| 22或注視大地，他只見苦惱和幽暗，昏黯和恐怖！但黑暗畢竟要被驅除， | 22And they shall look to the earth, and behold trouble and darkness, weakness and distress, and a mist following them, and they cannot fly away from their distress. |
| 23因為遭受災難的，必將免於黑暗。往昔上主曾使則步隆和納斐塔里地域受了侮辱，但日後卻使沿海之路，約但東岸，外方人的加里肋亞獲得了光榮。 | 23 |
