| 1猶大王約史雅的兒子約雅金即位之初，上主有這話傳給耶肋米亞說： | 1In the beginning of the reign of Joakim the son of Josias king of Juda, came this word from the Lord, saying: |
| 2「上主這樣說：你去站在上主殿宇的庭院裏，對猶大各城凡來到上主殿內朝拜的人，說我命你對他們應說的一切話，一句也不可減少。 | 2Thus saith the Lord: Stand in the court of the house of the Lord, and speak to all the cities of Juda, out of which they come, to adore in the house of the Lord, all the words which I have commanded thee to to speak unto them: leave not out one word. |
| 3或許他們會聽從，終於各自離棄自己的邪道，使我後悔而不降曾因他們行事邪惡，給他們想降的災禍。 | 3If so be they will hearken and be converted every one from his evil way; that I may repent me of the evil that I think to do unto them for the wickedness of their doings. |
| 4你應對他們說：上主這樣說：假使你們不聽從我，不遵行我給你們當面頒佈的法律， | 4And thou shalt say to them: Thus saith the Lord: If you will not hearken to me to walk in my law, which I have given to you: |
| 5不聽信我不斷給你們派來，而你們不聽從我的僕人──先知們的話， | 5To give ear to the words of my servants the prophets, whom I sent to you rising up early: and sending, and you have not hearkened: |
| 6我必使這殿像史羅一樣，使這城成為舉世萬民詛咒的對象。」 | 6I will make this house like Silo: and I will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth. |
| 7司祭和先知以及全體人民，都聽見耶肋米亞在上主殿裏宣布了這些話。 | 7And the priests, and the prophets, and all the people heard Jeremias speaking these words in the house of the Lord. |
| 8當耶肋米亞講完了上主命他向全體人民應說的一切話以後，司祭和先知以及全體人民就拿住他說：「你真該死！ | 8And when Jeremias made an end of speaking all that the Lord had commanded him to speak to all the people, the priests, and the prophets, and all the people laid hold on him, saying: Let him be put to death. |
| 9為什麼你奉上主的名預言說：這殿必要像史羅，這城必要荒蕪，而沒有人居住呢！」全體人民都在上主的殿裏集合起來反對耶肋米亞。 | 9Why hath he prophesied in the name of the Lord, saying: This house shall be like Silo; and this city shall be made desolate, without an inhabitant? And all the people were gathered together against Jeremias in the house of the Lord. |
| 10猶大的民事官員聽到發生了這事，便從王宮上到上主殿裏，坐在上主殿宇的新門口。 | 10And the princes of Juda heard these words: and they went up from the king's house into the house of the Lord, and sat in the entry of the new gate of the house of the Lord. |
| 11司祭和先知便對官員和全體人民說：「這人該死，因為他預言反對這城，你們也親耳聽見了。」 | 11And the priests and the prophets spoke to the princes, and to all the people, saying: The judgement of death is for this man: because he hath prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your ears. |
| 12耶肋米亞遂答覆官員和全體人民說：「是上主派我預言你們剛纔聽到的一切反對這殿和這城的話。 | 12Then Jeremias spoke to all the princes, and to all the people, saying: The Lord sent me to prophesy concerning this house, and concerning this city all the words that you have heard. |
| 13現在你們應該改善你們的品行和作為，聽從上主你們天主的勸告，上主就必會後悔自己曾決意要給你們降的災禍。 | 13Now therefore amend your ways, and your doings, and hearken to the voice of the Lord your God: and the Lord will repent him of the evil that he hath spoken against you. |
| 14至於我，看，我已在你們手裏，你們看着怎樣好，怎樣對，就怎樣對待我。 | 14But as for me, behold I am in your hands: do with me what is good and right in your eyes: |
| 15但你們卻要切實知道：你們若殺害我，便是給自己和這城與其中的居民招來無辜的血債，因為實是上主派了我來，給你們當面宣布這一切話。」 | 15But know ye, and understand, that if you put me to death, you will shed innocent blood against your own selves, and against this city, and the inhabitants thereof. For in truth the Lord sent me to you, to speak all these words in your hearing. |
| 16官員和全體人民於是對司祭和先知說：「這人不該死，因為他是奉上主我們天主的名，向我們發言。」 | 16Then the princes, and all the people said to the priests, and to the prophets: There is no judgement of death for this man: for he hath spoken to us in the name of the Lord our God. |
| 17且有地方上的一些長老也相繼起來，對集合在場的全體人民說： | 17And some of the ancients of the land rose up: and they spoke to all the assembly of the people, saying: |
| 18「在猶大王希則克雅時日內，有摩勒舍特人米該亞先知，曾對全體猶大人民發言說：萬軍的上主這樣說：熙雍要變為耕地，耶路撒冷將成為廢墟，聖殿的山必化為樹木叢生的丘陵。 | 18Micheas of Morasthi was a prophet in the days of Ezechias king of Juda, and he spoke to all the people of Juda, saying: Thus saith the Lord of hosts: Sion shall be ploughed like a field, and Jerusalem shall be a heap of stones: and the mountain of the house the high places of woods. |
| 19猶大王希則克雅和猶大又何曾將他處死？豈不是敬畏上主，求上主開恩，致使上主反悔不降自己對他們曾決意要降的災禍嗎？為什麼我們要自找苦受，做這窮凶極惡的事？」 | 19Did Ezechias king of Juda, and all Juda, condemn him to death? did they not fear the Lord, and beseech the face of the Lord: and the Lord repented of the evil that he had spoken against them? therefore we are doing a great evil against our souls. |
| 20此外，尚有一人，克黎雅特耶阿陵人舍瑪雅的兒子烏黎雅，也曾奉上主的名說過預言。他說預言反對這城和這地，與耶肋米亞的話完全一樣。 | 20There was also a man that prophesied in the name of the Lord, Urias the son of Semei of Cariathiarim: and he prophesied against this city, and against this land, according to all the words of Jeremias. |
| 21當時的約雅金與其所有軍政官員聽到了他的話，王就設法要殺他。烏黎雅聽見了就害怕，逃往埃及去了。 | 21And Joakim, and all his men in power, and his princes heard these words: and the king sought to put him to death. And Urias heard it, and was afraid, and fled and went into Egypt. |
| 22約雅金王遂派人到埃及去，即派阿革波爾的兒子厄耳納堂和隨從他的一些人到埃及去， | 22And king Joakim sent men into Egypt, Elnathan the son of Achobor, and men with him into Egypt. |
| 23從埃及引渡烏黎雅，解送給約雅金王，王把他斬了，將他的屍體拋在平民的公墓裏。 | 23And they brought Urias out of Egypt: and brought him to king Joakim, and he slew him with the sword: and he cast his dead body into the graves of the common people. |
| 24惟有沙番的兒子阿希甘一手衛護耶肋米亞，不讓他交在人民手中，遭受殺害。 | 24So the hand of Ahicam the son of Saphan was with Jeremias, that he should not be delivered into the hands of the people, to put him to death. |
