| 1猶大王約史雅的兒子約雅金為王時，上主有話傳給耶肋米亞說： | 1The word that came to Jeremias from the Lord in the days of Joakim the son of Josias king of Juda, saying: |
| 2「你到勒加布人家裏去，與他們會談，引他們走進上主殿宇的一間房裏，給他們酒喝。」 | 2Go to the house of the Rechabites: and speak to them, and bring them into the house of the Lord, into one of the chambers of the treasures, and thou shalt give them wine to drink. |
| 3於是我帶了哈巴漆尼雅的孫子，依爾米雅的兒子雅匝尼雅，和他的兄弟與他所有的兒子，以及勒加布全家， | 3And I took Jezonias the son of Jeremias the son of Habsanias, and his brethren, and all his sons, and the whole house of the Rechabites. |
| 4到了上主的殿宇，進了天主的人依革達里雅的兒子哈南的兒子們的房間──這間房靠近長官室，正是在看守殿門的沙隆的兒子瑪阿色雅的住房上面， | 4And I brought them into the house of the Lord, to the treasure house of the sons of Hanan, the son of Jegedelias the man of God, which was by the treasure house of the princes, above the treasure of Maasias the son of Sellum, who was keeper of the entry. |
| 5將滿杯滿爵的酒，擺在勒加布的子孫面前，向他們請說：「請喝酒罷！」 | 5And I set before the sons of the house of the Rechabites pots full of wine, and cups: and I said to them: Drink ye wine. |
| 6他們答說：「我們不喝酒，因為我們的祖先勒加布的兒子約納達布曾吩咐我們說：你們和你們的兒子永不可喝酒； | 6And they answered: We will not drink wine: because Jonadab the son of Rechab, our father, commanded us, saying: You shall drink no wine, neither you, nor your children, for ever: |
| 7也不可建造房屋，不可播種，不可栽植或佔有葡萄園，卻要終生住在帳幕裏，好使你們能長久生活在你們作客的地方。 | 7Neither shall ye build houses, nor sow seed, nor plant vineyards, nor have any: but you shall dwell in tents all your days, that you may live many days upon the face of the earth, in which you are strangers. |
| 8在我們的祖先勒加布的兒子約納達布吩咐我們的一切事上，我們全聽從了他的話，我們、妻子和兒女，終生不喝酒， | 8Therefore we have obeyed the voice of Jonadab the son of Rechab, our father, in all things that he commanded us: so as to drink no wine all our days: neither we, nor our wives, nor our sons, nor our daughters: |
| 9也不建造房屋居住，也沒有葡萄園或田地和播種的事， | 9Nor to build houses to dwell in, nor to have vineyard, or field, or seed: |
| 10只住在帳幕裏，全聽從並履行我們的祖先約納達布吩咐的事。 | 10But we have dwelt in tents, and have been obedient according to all that Jonadab our father commanded us. |
| 11只在巴比倫王拿步高上來進攻這地時，我們纔說：走罷！到耶路撒冷去，躲避加色丁和阿蘭軍隊；從此我們纔住在耶路撒冷。」 | 11But when Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon came up to our land, we said: Come, let us go into Jerusalem from the face of the army of the Chaldeans, and from the face of the army of Syria: and we have remained in Jerusalem. |
| 12於是有上主的話傳給耶肋米亞說： | 12And the word of the Lord came to Jeremias, saying: |
| 13「萬軍的上主，以色列的天主這樣說：你去對猶大人和耶路撒冷的居民說：你們不接受教訓，聽從我的話嗎？──上主的斷語── | 13Thus saith the Lord of hosts the God of Israel: Go, and say to the men of Juda, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem: Will you not receive instruction, to obey my words, saith the Lord? |
| 14勒加布的兒子約納達布的話居然有人遵守：他命子孫們不喝酒，他們直到今日就不喝酒，全聽從了他們祖先的命令；我不斷懇切教訓你們，你們卻沒有聽從； | 14The words of Jonadab the son of Rechab, by which he commanded his sons not to drink wine, have prevailed: and they have drunk none to this day, because they have obeyed the commandment of their father: but I have spoken to you, rising early and speaking, and you have not obeyed me. |
| 15我給你們派遣──且不斷派遣，我所有的僕人先知們，來勸你們各自離棄自己的邪道，改善自己的行為，不再追隨事奉外方的神祇，好能住在我賜給你們和你們祖先的地方；你們仍不側耳聽從我。 | 15And I have sent to you all my servants the prophets, rising early, and sending and saying: Return ye every man from his wicked way, and make your ways good: and follow not strange gods, nor worship them, and you shall dwell in the land, which I gave you and your fathers: and you have not inclined your ear, nor hearkened to me. |
| 16實在，勒加布的兒子約納達布的子孫，遵守了他們祖先吩咐的命令；至於這民族，卻不聽從我。 | 16So the sons of Jonadab the son of Rechab have constantly kept the commandment of their father, which he commanded them: but this people hath not obeyed me. |
| 17為此，上主萬軍的天主，以色列的天主這樣說：看，我必給猶大和耶路撒冷所有的居民，招來我對他們所預告的一切災禍，因為我訓諭他們，他們不聽；我呼喚他們，他們不答應。」 | 17Therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts the God of Israel: Behold I will bring upon Juda, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the evil that I have pronounced against them, because I have spoken to them, and they have not heard: I have called to them, and they have not answered me. |
| 18於是耶肋米亞對勒加布人家族說：「萬軍的上主，以色列的天主這樣說：因為你們聽從了祖先約納達布的命令，遵守了他的一切規誡，完全依照他所吩咐的做了； | 18And Jeremias said to the house of the Rechabites: Thus saith the Lord of hosts the God of Israel: Because you have obeyed the commandment of Jonadab your father, and have kept all his precepts, and have done all that he commanded you: |
| 19為此，萬軍的上主，以色列的天主這樣說：勒加布的兒子約納達布從此永不會缺少侍立在我面前的人。」 | 19Therefore thus saith the Lord of host the God of Israel: There shall not be wanting a man of the race of Jonadab the son of Rechab, standing before me for ever. |
