| 1約伯回答說： | 1Then Job answered, and said: |
| 2你們且聽一聽我的話！這也算是你們給我的安慰。 | 2Hear, I beseech you, my words, and do penance. |
| 3請讓我發言，我說完後，任你們笑罵。 | 3Suffer me, and I will speak, and after, if you please, laugh at my words. |
| 4我豈是抱怨人？我失了忍耐，難道沒有理由？ | 4Is my debate against man, that I should not have just reason to be troubled? |
| 5你們注意聽我，必要吃驚，且要用手堵住口。 | 5Hearken to me and be astonished, and lay your finger on your mouth. |
| 6甚至我一回想，我就恐怖，全身戰慄。 | 6As for me, when I remember, I am afraid, and trembling taketh hold on my flesh. |
| 7惡人為何享受高壽而勢力強大？ | 7Why then do the wicked live, are they advanced, and strengthened with riches? |
| 8他們在世時，子孫昌盛，親眼看見子子孫孫。 | 8Their seed continueth before them, a multitude of kinsmen, and of children's children in their sight. |
| 9他們的住宅平安，無所畏懼，天主的棍杖也不加在他們身上。 | 9Their houses are secure and peaceable, and the rod of God is not upon them. |
| 10他們的公牛交尾，無不成功；母牛產子，決無流產。 | 10Their cattle have conceived, and failed not: their cow has calved, and is not deprived of her fruit. |
| 11他們使孩子跑出像羊群，子女跳躍如麋鹿。 | 11Their little ones go out like a flock, and their children dance and play. |
| 12他們伴着手鼓與豎琴歌唱，隨着笛聲歡呼。 | 12They take the timbrel, and the harp, and rejoice at the sound of the organ. |
| 13他們幸福地度過天年，平安地降入陰府。 | 13They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment they go down to hell. |
| 14但他們曾向天主說：「離開我們！我們不願知道你的道路。 | 14Who have said to God: Depart from us, we desire not the knowledge of thy ways. |
| 15全能者是誰，竟叫我們事奉他？我們祈求他有什麼好處？」 | 15Who is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what doth it profit us if we pray to him? |
| 16看啊！他們的幸福，豈不在他們掌握中？惡人的思想豈不離他很遠？ | 16Yet because their good things are not in their hand, may the counsel of the wicked be far from me. |
| 17惡人的燈有多少次熄滅過？災禍有多少次降在他們身上？天主何嘗因忿怒而消滅他們？ | 17How often shall the lamp of the wicked be put out, and a deluge come upon them, and he shall distribute the sorrows of his wrath? |
| 18使他們像被風吹的碎稭？好像被暴風捲去的糠粃？ | 18They shall be as chaff before the face of the wind, and as ashes which the whirlwind scattereth. |
| 19難道天主要向他的兒子討罪債？其實應向他本人報復，叫他覺悟！ | 19God shall lay up the sorrow of the father for his children: and when he shall repay, then shall he know. |
| 20叫他親眼看見自己的毀滅，親自飲下全能者的義怒之杯。 | 20His eyes shall see his own destruction, and he shall drink of the wrath of the Almighty. |
| 21他既逝去，他本人的歲月已絕，他的家庭對他還有什麼相干？ | 21For what is it to him what befalleth his house after him: and if the number of his months be diminished by one half? |
| 22天主既審判天上者，人豈能教給他什麼智識？ | 22Shall any one teach God knowledge, who judgeth those that are high? |
| 23有人到死一無所缺，享盡了平安幸福。 | 23One man dieth strong, and hale, rich and happy. |
| 24他的腰部充滿脂肪，他的骨髓潤澤豐盈； | 24His bowels are full of fat, and his bones are moistened with marrow. |
| 25但有人卻至死心靈酸苦，一生毫無福樂； | 25But another dieth in bitterness of soul without any riches: |
| 26他們卻一同埋於塵土，為蛆蟲所掩蓋。 | 26And yet they shall sleep together in the dust, and worms shall cover them. |
| 27我確知你們的思想，以及對我所籌劃的陰謀。 | 27Surely I know your thoughts, and your unjust judgments against me. |
| 28你們要問：「霸王的家在那裏？惡人住的帳幕在何處？」 | 28For you say: Where is the house of the prince? and where are the dwelling places of the wicked? |
| 29你們怎麼不問過路的人？難道你們不承認他們的證據？ | 29Ask any one of them that go by the way, and you shall perceive that he knoweth these same things. |
| 30「惡人在毀滅之日不受害，在憤怒之日會得救。」 | 30Because the wicked man is reserved to the day of destruction, and he shall be brought to the day of wrath. |
| 31他的動作，誰敢當面指摘？他的行為，誰能報復？ | 31Who shall reprove his way to his face? and who shall repay him what he hath done? |
| 32他最後被抬入墳墓，且親自守護自己的墓地。 | 32He shall be brought to the graves, and shall watch in the heap of the dead. |
| 33谷中的土壤，他感覺甘美；眾人都跟他而去，但在他前面的人，更不可勝數。 | 33He hath been acceptable to the gravel of Cocytus, and he shall draw every man after him, and there are innumerable before him. |
| 34你們為何說空話來安慰我？你們的答話顯然只是欺詐！ | 34How then do ye comfort me in vain, whereas your answer is shewn to be repugnant to truth? |
