| 1厄里烏又接着說： | 1Moreover Eliu spoke these words: |
| 2你說過：「我在天主前是正義的。」你想這話合理嗎？ | 2Doth thy thought seem right to thee, that thou shouldst say: I am more just than God? |
| 3你還說過：「這與你何干？我若犯罪，我對你做了什麼？」 | 3For thou saidst: That which is right doth not please thee: or what will it profit thee if I sin? |
| 4我今答覆你，以及和你在一起的友人。 | 4Therefore I will answer thy words, and thy friends with thee. |
| 5請你仰視上天，且要靜觀，細看高於你的蒼天。 | 5Look up to heaven and see, and behold the sky, that it is higher than thee. |
| 6你若犯罪，為他有什麼害處？你若作惡多端，又能加害他什麼？ | 6If thou sin, what shalt thou hurt him? and if thy iniquities be multiplied, what shalt thou do against him? |
| 7如果你為人正義，為他又有何益？或者他由你手中獲得什麼？ | 7And if thou do justly, what shalt thou give him, or what shall he receive of thy hand? |
| 8你的惡行只能加害與你類似的人，你的正義也只能有益於世人。 | 8Thy wickedness may hurt a man that is like thee: and thy justice may help the son of man. |
| 9人因受暴虐過甚，必要哀號；因受強權的壓迫，必要呼籲。 | 9By reason of the multitude of oppressions they shall cry out: and shall wail for the violence of the arm of tyrants. |
| 10但是沒有人說：「那造成我們，使人夜間歡唱， | 10And he hath not said: Where is God, who made me, who hath given songs in the night? |
| 11使我們比地上的走獸更聰明，使我們比天上的飛鳥更有智慧的天主在那裡？」 | 11Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and instructeth us more than the fowls of the air. |
| 12他們雖呼喊，天主卻不答應，這是因為惡人傲慢的原故。 | 12There shall they cry, and he will not hear, because of the pride of evil men. |
| 13他們空喊亂叫，天主決不俯聽，全能者決不垂視。 | 13God therefore will not hear in vain, and the Almighty will look into the causes of every one. |
| 14何況你說過：「你看不見他；但你的案件已放在他面前，你應等待他！」 | 14Yea when thou shalt say: He considereth not: be judged before him, and expect him. |
| 15你還說過：「他沒有發怒施罰，似乎不很理會罪過。」 | 15For he doth not now bring on his fury, neither doth he revenge wickedness exceedingly. |
| 16的確，約伯開口盡說空話；由於無知，說了許多妄言。 | 16Therefore Job openeth his mouth in vain, and multiplieth words without knowledge. |
