| 1上主由旋風中向約伯發言說： | 1Then the Lord answered Job out of a whirlwind, and said: |
| 2用無知的話，使我的計劃模糊不明的是誰？ | 2Who is this that wrappeth up sentences in unskillful words? |
| 3你要像勇士束好你的腰，我要問你，請指教我！ | 3Gird up thy loins like a man: I will ask thee, and answer thou me. |
| 4我奠定大地的基礎時，你在那裏？你若聰明，儘管說罷！ | 4Where wast thou when I laid up the foundations of the earth? tell me if thou hast understanding. |
| 5你知道是誰制定了地的度量，是誰在地上拉了準繩？ | 5Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it? |
| 6地的基礎置在何處，是誰立了地的角石？ | 6Upon what are its bases grounded? or who laid the corner stone thereof, |
| 7當時星辰一起歌詠，天主的眾子同聲歡呼！ | 7When the morning stars praised me together, and all the sons of God made a joyful melody? |
| 8海水洶湧如出母胎時，是誰用門將海關閉？ | 8Who shut up the sea with doors, when it broke forth as issuing out of the womb: |
| 9是我用雲彩作海的衣裳，用濃霧作海的襁褓。 | 9When I made a cloud the garment thereof, and wrapped it in a mist as in swaddling bands? |
| 10是我給海劃定了界限，設立了門和閂， | 10I set my bounds around it, and made it bars and doors: |
| 11並下令說：「你到此為止，不得越過；你的狂潮到此為止。」 | 11And I said: Hitherto thou shalt come, and shalt go no further, and here thou shalt break thy swelling waves. |
| 12你有生之日，何嘗給晨光出過命令，又何嘗使曙光知道它之所生？ | 12Didst thou since thy birth command the morning, and shew the dawning of the day its place? |
| 13何嘗使光握緊大地四角，將惡人從那裏抖出去？ | 13And didst thou hold the extremities of the earth shaking them, and hast thou shaken the ungodly out of it? |
| 14曙光改變大地，如在膠泥上蓋印；使萬物出現，如着錦衣； | 14The seal shall be restored as clay, and shall stand as a garment: |
| 15撤去惡人的光明，折斷高舉的手。 | 15From the wicked their light shall be taken away, and the high arm shall be broken. |
| 16你曾否到過海的源流，走過深淵的底處？ | 16Hast thou entered into the depths of the sea, and walked in the lowest parts of the deep? |
| 17死亡的門給你開啟過嗎？你見過死影之門嗎？ | 17Have the gates of death been opened to thee, and hast thou seen the darksome doors? |
| 18你知道大地的廣闊嗎？你若知道，請你說罷！ | 18Hast thou considered the breadth of the earth? tell me, if thou knowest all things? |
| 19赴光明之所的路是那一條，黑暗的住處在那裏？ | 19Where is the way where light dwelleth, and where is the place of darkness: |
| 20你知道如何引導黑暗到自己的境地，領黑暗回到自己居所的道路上嗎？ | 20That thou mayst bring every thing to its own bounds, and understand the paths of the house thereof. |
| 21你總該知道，因為你那時已誕生了，而你的年歲已很高。 | 21Didst thou know then that thou shouldst be born? and didst thou know the number of thy days? |
| 22你到過雪庫，見過雹倉嗎？ | 22Hast thou entered into the storehouses of the snow, or has thou beheld the treasures of the hail: |
| 23那是我為降災之時，為戰爭之日所存放的。 | 23Which I have prepared for the time of the enemy, against the day of battle and war? |
| 24雲霧由那條路散開，東風由那條路吹往大地？ | 24By what way is the light spread, and heat divided upon the earth? |
| 25誰為暴雨啟開閘門，誰為雷電指示道路， | 25Who gave a course to violent showers, or a way for noisy thunder: |
| 26好使雨落在無人之境，降在無人的荒野， | 26That it should rain on the earth without man in the wilderness, where no mortal dwelleth: |
| 27為潤澤荒野乾旱之地，好使原野中的綠草生長？ | 27That it should fill the desert and desolate land, and should bring forth green grass? |
| 28雨有父親嗎？誰生了露珠？ | 28Who is the father of rain? or who begot the drops of dew? |
| 29冰出自誰的胎？天上的霜是誰生的？ | 29Out of whose womb came the ice; and the frost from heaven who hath gendered it? |
| 30水怎樣凝結如石？深淵的表面怎樣固結？ | 30The waters are hardened like a stone, and the surface of the deep is congealed. |
| 31你豈能拴住昴宿的紐結，解開參星的繩索？ | 31Shalt thou be able to join together the shining stars the Pleiades, or canst thou stop the turning about of Arcturus? |
| 32你豈能使晨星按時升出，引導北斗和它的星群？ | 32Canst thou bring forth the day star in its time, and make the evening star to rise upon the children of the earth? |
| 33你豈知道天體的定律，立定天律以管治大地？ | 33Dost thou know the order of heaven, and canst thou set down the reason thereof on the earth? |
| 34你豈能使你的聲音上達雲霄，使雨水沛然降在你處？ | 34Canst thou lift up thy voice to the clouds, that an abundance of waters may cover thee? |
| 35你能否一發令，閃電就發出，且向你說：「我們在這裏！」 | 35Canst thou send lightnings, and will they go, and will they return and say to thee: Here we are? |
| 36誰將聰明給與鸛鳥，將智慧賦與雄雞？ | 36Who hath put wisdom in the heart of man? or who gave the cock understanding? |
| 37當土壤堅固，泥塊凝結之時， | 37Who can declare the order of the heavens, or who can make the harmony of heaven to sleep? |
| 38誰能憑智力數清雲彩，能傾倒天上的水囊？ | 38When was the dust poured on the earth, and the clods fastened together? |
| 39當獅子伏於洞穴，臥於叢林埋伏的時候， | 39Wilt thou take the prey for the lioness, and satisfy the appetite of her whelps, |
| 40你是否能為牝獅獵取食物，滿足幼獅的食慾？ | 40When they couch in the dens and lie in wait in holes? |
| 41當雛鴉無食，往還飛翔，向天主哀鳴的時候，誰能為烏鴉備食？ | 41Who provideth food for the raven, when her young ones cry to God, wandering about, because they have no meat? |
