| 1約伯回答說： | 1But Job answered, and said: |
| 2恨不得有人衡量衡量我的痛苦，把我所受的災禍一起放在天秤上！ | 2O that my sins, whereby I have deserved wrath, and the calamity that I suffer, were weighed in a balance. |
| 3它們重過海岸的沙粒，難怪我出言冒失。 | 3As the sand of the sea this would appear heavier: therefore my words are full of sorrow: |
| 4因為全能者的箭射中了我，我的心靈喝盡它們的毒汁，天主的恐嚇列陣攻擊我。 | 4For the arrows of the Lord are in me, the rage whereof drinketh up my spirit, and the terrors of the Lord war against me. |
| 5野驢有青草，難道還嘶叫？牛對着草料，難道還吼鳴？ | 5Will the wild ass bray when he hath grass? or will the ox low when he standeth before a full manger? |
| 6淡而無鹽的食物，豈能下嚥？蛋白能有什麼滋味？ | 6Or can an unsavoury thing be eaten, that is not seasoned with salt? or can a man taste that which when tasted bringeth death? |
| 7這使我厭惡的食物，我實不願沾唇。 | 7The things which before my soul would not touch, now, through anguish are my meats. |
| 8惟願我的祈求實現，願天主滿全我的希望！ | 8Who will grant that my request may come: and that God may give me what I look for? |
| 9願天主擊毀我，鬆手使我消滅！ | 9And that he that hath begun may destroy me, that he may let loose his hand, and cut me off? |
| 10這樣，我仍有安慰，在悽慘的痛苦中，仍然喜悅，因為我沒有違犯聖者的教訓。 | 10And that this may be my comfort, that afflicting me with sorrow, he spare not, nor I contradict the words of the Holy One. |
| 11我有什麼力量使我期待，有什麼結局使我拖延生命？ | 11For what is my strength, that I can hold out? or what is my end that I should keep patience? |
| 12我的力量豈有巖石之堅？我的肉身豈是銅製的？ | 12My strength is not the strength of stones, nor is my flesh of brass. |
| 13在我內還能找到什麼作援助？任何扶助豈不都遠離了我？ | 13Behold there is no help for me in myself, and my familiar friends also are departed from me. |
| 14誰不憐憫自己的友人，就是放棄了敬畏天主之心。 | 14He that taketh away mercy from his friend, forsaketh the fear of the Lord. |
| 15我的兄弟們詭詐有如溪水，有如水過即乾的河床。 | 15My brethren have passed by me, as the torrent that passeth swiftly in the valleys. |
| 16溪水因結冰而混濁，積雪掩蓋在其上； | 16They that fear the hoary frost, the snow shall fall upon them. |
| 17季節一溫暖，溪水即竭，天氣一炎熱，河床即乾。 | 17At the time when they shall be scattered they shall perish: and after it groweth hot they shall be melted out of their place. |
| 18商隊離開大道，走入荒野，因而喪命。 | 18The paths of their steps are entangled: they shall walk in vain, and shall perish. |
| 19特瑪的商隊觀望，舍巴的客旅期待， | 19Consider the paths of Thema, the ways of Saba, and wait a little while. |
| 20但他們的希望落了空，他們不管到了那裏，必狼狽不堪。 | 20They are confounded, because I have hoped: they are come also even unto me, and are covered with shame. |
| 21現今你們待我也是一樣：看見了我，就驚惶失措。 | 21Now you are come: and now seeing my affliction you are afraid. |
| 22難道我說過：「請送我禮物！把你們的財產送我一分？ | 22Did I say: Bring to me, and give me of your substance? |
| 23救我擺脫仇人的權勢，贖我脫離殘暴者的掌握？」 | 23Or deliver me from the hand of the enemy, and rescue me out of the hand of the mighty? |
| 24請教訓我！我必靜聽。我有什麼錯，請指示我！ | 24Teach me, and I will hold my peace: and if I have been ignorant in any thing, instruct me. |
| 25正義的言詞是多麼甘美！但你們的責斥是指摘什麼？ | 25Why have you detracted the words of truth, whereas there is none of you that can reprove me? |
| 26你們豈能只在言詞上吹毛求疵？以絕望者的話當耳邊風？ | 26You dress up speeches only to rebuke, and you utter words to the wind. |
| 27你們只想對孤兒擲骰下注，以你們的朋友作商品。 | 27You rush in upon the fatherless, and you endeavour to overthrow your friend. |
| 28現今請你們注視我，在你們注視之下，我決不說謊。 | 28However finish what you have begun, give ear, and see whether I lie. |
| 29請你們再想一下，不要不公；請你們三思，我的正義仍然存在！ | 29Answer, I beseech you, without contention: and speaking that which is just, judge ye. |
| 30我的唇舌上豈有不義？我的口腔難道不辨邪正？ | 30And you shall not And iniquity in my tongue, neither shall folly sound in my mouth. |
