岳厄爾	Joel
¹上主的話傳給培突耳的兒子岳厄爾：	¹The word of the Lord that came to Joel the son of Phatuel.
²老人們，你們應聽這事！地上的一切居民，你們應側耳細聽！在你們的時日，或在你們祖先的時日，是否曾有過這樣的事？	²Hear this, ye old men, and give ear, all ye inhabitants of the land: did this ever happen in your days, or in the days of your fathers?
³你們應將這事告訴你們的子孫；你們的子孫應傳給他們的子孫；他們的子孫又應傳給下一代：	³Tell ye of this to your children, and let your children tell their children, and their children to another generation.
⁴蝻子吃剩的，飛蝗來吃了；飛蝗吃剩的，螽斯來吃了；螽斯吃剩的，蚱蜢來吃了。	⁴That which the palmerworm hath left, the locust hath eaten: and that which the locust hath left, the bruchus hath eaten: and that which the bruchus hath left, the mildew hath destroyed.
⁵醉漢，你們醒來慟哭罷！一切愛喝酒的人，為了新酒悲泣罷！因為已由你們嘴邊奪去了。	⁵Awake, ye that are drunk, and weep, and mourn all ye that take delight in drinking sweet wine: for it is cut off from your mouth.
⁶因為有一個民族侵入了我的地域，既強大而又不可勝數；他們的牙有如獅子的牙，臼齒有如母獅的臼齒。	⁶For a nation is come up upon my land, strong and without number: his teeth are like the teeth of a lion: and his cheek teeth as of a lion's whelp.
⁷他們蹂躪了我的葡萄園，折斷了我的無花果樹，將樹皮完全剝掉，使樹枝光禿發白。	⁷He hath laid my vineyard waste, and hath pilled off the bark of my fig tree: he hath stripped it bare, and cast it away; the branches thereof are made white.
⁸你哀傷罷！如同一個身披喪服的處女，哀哭她青年的未婚夫。	⁸Lament like a virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth.
⁹上主殿中的素祭和奠祭已中斷；上主的僕人──司祭都悲哀不已。	⁹Sacrifice and libation is cut off from the house of the Lord: the priests, the Lord's ministers, have mourned:
¹⁰田園已荒廢，土地已悽涼；因為五穀已遭蹂躪，美酒已枯竭，油已乾涸。	¹⁰The country is destroyed, the ground hath mourned: for the corn is wasted, the wine is confounded, the oil hath languished.
¹¹農夫，你們應哀哭！葡萄園丁，你們應為了小麥和大麥而號咷！因為田園的出產巳遭破壞。	¹¹The husbandmen are ashamed, the vinedressers have howled for the wheat, and for the barley, because the harvest of the field is perished.
¹²葡萄樹枯槁了，無花果樹凋謝了；石榴樹、棕樹、蘋果樹，以及田間的一切果樹都枯死了；為此喜樂已由人間消失。	¹²The vineyard is confounded, and the fig tree hath languished: the pomegranate tree, and the palm tree, and the apple tree, and all the trees of the field are withered: because joy is withdrawn from the children of men.
¹³司祭，你們應披上麻衣而哀悼！服務祭壇的人，你們應號咷！我天主的僕人，你們應進來，披上麻衣過夜！因為素祭和奠祭在你們天主的殿內已中斷了。	¹³Gird yourselves, and lament, O ye priests, howl, ye ministers of the altars: go in, lie in sackcloth, ye ministers of my God: because sacrifice and libation is cut off from the house of your God.
¹⁴你們應制定一個齋期，召開一個盛會，聚集長老和當地的一切居民，在上主你們天主的殿內，向上主呼號。	¹⁴Sanctify ye a fast, call an assembly; gather together the ancients, all the inhabitants of the land into the house of your God: and cry ye to the Lord:
¹⁵啊，那日子啊！上主的日子來近了，它來有如全能者施行毀滅。	¹⁵Ah, ah, ah, for the day: because the day of the Lord is at hand, and it shall come like destruction from the mighty.
¹⁶食物不是在我們眼前斷絕了嗎？喜樂和歡欣不是離開了我們天主的殿嗎？	¹⁶Is not your food cut off before your eyes, joy and gladness from the house of our God?
¹⁷麥粒已在土塊下腐爛，糧倉業已荒廢，廩房業已坍塌，因為五穀都枯死了。	¹⁷The beasts have rotted in their dung, the barns are destroyed, the storehouses are broken down: because the corn is confounded.
¹⁸牲畜為什麼悲鳴？牛群為什麼徬徨？因為沒有了草場；連羊群也感絕望。	¹⁸Why did the beast groan, why did the herds of cattle low? because there is no pasture for them: yea, and the flocks of sheep are perished.
¹⁹上主，我向你呼號，因為烈火吞滅了原野的牧場，火焰焚燒了田間的一切樹木。	¹⁹To thee, O Lord, will I cry: because fire hath devoured the beautiful places of the wilderness, and the flame hath burnt all the trees of the country.
²⁰連野獸也向你懇切哀鳴，因為水流已枯竭，烈火又吞滅了原野的牧場。	²⁰Yea and the beasts of the field have looked up to thee, as a garden bed that thirsteth after rain, for the springs of waters are dried up, and fire hath devoured the beautiful places of the wilderness.
