| 1「我給你們講論了這些事，免得你們的信仰受動搖。 | 1These things have I spoken to you, that you may not be scandalized. |
| 2人要把你們逐出會堂；並且時候必到，凡殺害你們的，還以為是盡恭敬天主的義務。 | 2They will put you out of the synagogues: yea, the hour cometh, that whosoever killeth you, will think that he doth a service to God. |
| 3他們這樣作，是因為沒有認識父，也沒有認識我。 | 3And these things will they do to you; because they have not known the Father, nor me. |
| 4我給你們講論了這一切，是為叫你們在這一切發生時，想起我早就告訴了你們這一切。這些事起初我沒有告訴你們，因為我還與你們同在。」 | 4But these things I have told you, that when the hour shall come, you may remember that I told you of them. |
| 5「現在我就往派遣我者那裏去，你們中卻沒有人問我：你往那裏去？ | 5But I told you not these things from the beginning, because I was with you. And now I go to him that sent me, and none of you asketh me: Whither goest thou? |
| 6只因我給你們說了這話，你們就滿心憂悶。 | 6But because I have spoken these things to you, sorrow hath filled your heart. |
| 7然而，我將真情告訴你們：我去為你們有益，因為我若不去，護慰者便不會到你們這裏來；我若去了，就要派遣他到你們這裏來。 | 7But I tell you the truth: it is expedient to you that I go: for if I go not, the Paraclete will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. |
| 8當他來到時，就要指證世界關於罪惡、正義和審判所犯的錯誤： | 8And when he is come, he will convince the world of sin, and of justice, and of judgment. |
| 9關於罪惡，因為他們沒有信從我； | 9Of sin: because they believed not in me. |
| 10關於正義，因為我往父那裏去，而你們再見不到我； | 10And of justice: because I go to the Father; and you shall see me no longer. |
| 11關於審判，因為這世界的首領已被判斷了。 | 11And of judgment: because the prince of this world is already judged. |
| 12我本來還有許多事要告訴你們，然而你們現在不能擔負。 | 12I have yet many things to say to you: but you cannot bear them now. |
| 13當那一位真理之神來時，他要把你們引入一切真理，因為他不憑自己講論，只把他所聽到的講出來，並把未來的事傳告給你們。 | 13But when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will teach you all truth. For he shall not speak of himself; but what things soever he shall hear, he shall speak; and the things that are to come, he shall shew you. |
| 14他要光榮我，因為他要把由我所領受的，傳告給你們。 | 14He shall glorify me; because he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it to you. |
| 15凡父所有的一切，都是我的；為此我說：他要由我領受而傳告給你們。」 | 15All things whatsoever the Father hath, are mine. Therefore I said, that he shall receive of mine, and shew it to you. |
| 16「只有片時，你們就看不見我了；再過片時，你們又要看見我。」 | 16A little while, and now you shall not see me; and again a little while, and you shall see me: because I go to the Father. |
| 17於是他門徒中有幾個彼此說：「他給我們所說的：『只有片時，你們就看不見我了；再過片時，你們又要看見我。』還有『我往父那裏去』，是什麼意思？」 | 17Then some of the disciples said one to another: What is this that he saith to us: A little while, and you shall not see me; and again a little while, and you shall see me, and, because I go to the Father? |
| 18又說：「他說的這『只有片時』，究竟有什麼意思？我們不明白他講什麼。」 | 18They said therefore: What is this that he saith, A little while? we know not what he speaketh. |
| 19耶穌看出他們願意問他，就對他們說：「你們不是彼此詢問我所說的：『只有片時，你們就看不見我了；再過片時，你們又要看見我』的話嗎？ | 19And Jesus knew that they had a mind to ask him; and he said to them: Of this do you inquire among yourselves, because I said: A little while, and you shall not see me; and again a little while, and you shall see me? |
| 20我實實在在告訴你們：你們要痛哭，哀號，世界卻要歡樂；你們將要憂愁，但你們的憂愁卻要變為喜樂。 | 20Amen, amen I say to you, that you shall lament and weep, but the world shall rejoice; and you shall be made sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy. |
| 21婦女生產的時候，感到憂苦，因為她的時辰來到了；既生了孩子，因了喜樂再不記憶那苦楚了，因為一個人已生在世上了。 | 21A woman, when she is in labour, hath sorrow, because her hour is come; but when she hath brought forth the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world. |
| 22如今，你們固然感到憂愁，但我要再見到你們，那時，你們心裏要喜樂，並且你們的喜樂誰也不能從你們奪去。 | 22So also you now indeed have sorrow; but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice; and your joy no man shall take from you. |
| 23到那一天，你們什麼也不必問我了。我實實在在告訴你們：你們因我的名無論向父求什麼，他必賜給你們。 | 23And in that day you shall not ask me any thing. Amen, amen I say to you: if you ask the Father any thing in my name, he will give it you. |
| 24直到現在，你們沒有因我的名求什麼；求罷！必會得到，好使你們的喜樂得以圓滿。」 | 24Hitherto you have not asked any thing in my name. Ask, and you shall receive; that your joy may be full. |
| 25「我用比喻對你們講了這一切；但時候來到，我不再用比喻對你們說話，而要明明地向你們傳報有關父的一切。 | 25These things I have spoken to you in proverbs. The hour cometh, when I will no more speak to you in proverbs, but will shew you plainly of the Father. |
| 26在那一天，你們要因我的名祈求，我不向你們說：我要為你們求父， | 26In that day you shall ask in my name; and I say not to you, that I will ask the Father for you: |
| 27因為父自己愛你們，因你們愛了我，且相信我出自天主。 | 27For the Father himself loveth you, because you have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God. |
| 28我出自父，來到了世界上；我又離開世界，往父那裏去。」 | 28I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again I leave the world, and I go to the Father. |
| 29他的門徒便說：「看，現在你明明地講論，不用什麼比喻了。 | 29His disciples say to him: Behold, now thou speakest plainly, and speakest no proverb. |
| 30現在，我們曉得你知道一切，不需要有人問你；因此，我們相信你是出自天主。」 | 30Now we know that thou knowest all things, and thou needest not that any man should ask thee. By this we believe that thou camest forth from God. |
| 31耶穌回答說：「現在你們相信嗎？ | 31Jesus answered them: Do you now believe? |
| 32看，時辰要來，且已來到，你們要被驅散，各人歸各人的地方去，撇下我獨自一個，其實我並不是獨自一個，因為有父與我同 在。 | 32Behold, the hour cometh, and it is now come, that you shall be scattered every man to his own, and shall leave me alone; and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me. |
| 33我給你們講了這一切，是要你們在我內得到平安。在世界上你們要受苦難；然而你們放心，我已戰勝了世界。」 | 33These things I have spoken to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you shall have distress: but have confidence, I have overcome the world. |
