若望福音	John
¹耶穌一知道法利塞人聽說他已收徒，施洗比若翰還多──	¹When Jesus therefore understood that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus maketh more disciples, and baptizeth more than John,
²其實耶穌本人並沒有施洗，而是他的門徒──	²(Though Jesus himself did not baptize, but his disciples,)
³便離開猶太，又往加里肋亞去了。	³He left Judea, and went again into Galilee.
⁴他必須途經撒瑪黎雅。	⁴And he was of necessity to pass through Samaria.
⁵於是到了撒瑪黎雅的一座城，名叫息哈爾，靠近雅各伯給他兒子若瑟的莊田，	⁵He cometh therefore to a city of Samaria, which is called Sichar, near the land which Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
⁶在那裏有「雅各伯泉」。耶穌因行路疲倦，就順便坐在泉傍；那時，大約是第六時辰。	⁶Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well. It was about the sixth hour.
⁷有一個撒瑪黎雅婦人來汲水，耶穌向她說：「請給我點水喝！」	⁷There cometh a woman of Samaria, to draw water. Jesus saith to her: Give me to drink.
⁸那時，他的門徒已往城裏買食物去了。	⁸For his disciples were gone into the city to buy meats.
⁹那撒瑪黎雅婦人就回答說：「你既是個猶太人，怎麼向我一個撒瑪黎雅婦人要水喝呢？」原來，猶太人和撒瑪黎雅人不相往來。	⁹Then that Samaritan woman saith to him: How dost thou, being a Jew, ask of me to drink, who am a Samaritan woman? For the Jews do not communicate with the Samaritans.
¹⁰耶穌回答她說：「若是你知道天主的恩賜，並知道向你說：給我水喝的人是誰，你或許早求了他，而他也早賜給了你活水。」	¹⁰Jesus answered, and said to her: If thou didst know the gift of God, and who he is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou perhaps wouldst have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
¹¹那婦人問說：「先生，你連汲水器也沒有，而井又深，你從那裏得那活水呢？	¹¹The woman saith to him: Sir, thou hast nothing wherein to draw, and the well is deep; from whence then hast thou living water?
¹²難道你比我們的祖先雅各伯還大嗎？他留給了我們這口井，他和他的子孫以及他的牲畜，都曾喝過這井裏的水。」	¹²Art thou greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
¹³耶穌回答說：「凡喝這水的，還要再渴；	¹³Jesus answered, and said to her: Whosoever drinketh of this water, shall thirst again; but he that shall drink of the water that I will give him, shall not thirst for ever:
¹⁴但誰若喝了我賜與他的水，他將永遠不渴；並且我賜給他的水，將在他內成為湧到永生的水泉。」	¹⁴But the water that I will give him, shall become in him a fountain of water, springing up into life everlasting.
¹⁵婦人說：「先生，請給我這水罷！免得我再渴，也免得我再來這裏汲水。」	¹⁵The woman saith to him: Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come hither to draw.
¹⁶耶穌向她說：「去，叫你的丈夫，再回這裏來。」	¹⁶Jesus saith to her: Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
¹⁷那婦人回答說：「我沒有丈夫。」耶穌說：「你說：我沒有丈夫，正對；	¹⁷The woman answered, and said: I have no husband. Jesus said to her: Thou hast said well, I have no husband:
¹⁸因為你曾有過五個丈夫，而你現在所有的，也不是你的丈夫：你說的這話真對。」	¹⁸For thou hast had five husbands: and he whom thou now hast, is not thy husband. This thou hast said truly.
¹⁹婦人向他說：「先生，我看你是個先知。	¹⁹The woman saith to him: Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
²⁰我們的祖先一向在這座山上朝拜天主，你們卻說：應該朝拜的地方是在耶路撒冷。」	²⁰Our fathers adored on this mountain, and you say, that at Jerusalem is the place where men must adore.
²¹耶穌回答說：「女人，你相信我罷！到了時候，你們將不在這座山，也不在耶路撒冷朝拜父。	²¹Jesus saith to her: Woman, believe me, that the hour cometh, when you shall neither on this mountain, not in Jerusalem, adore the Father.
²²你們朝拜你們所不認識的，我們朝拜我們所認識的，因為救恩是出自猶太人。	²²You adore that which you know not: we adore that which we know; for salvation is of the Jews.
²³然而時候要到，且現在就是，那些真正朝拜的人，將以心神以真理朝拜父，因為父就是尋找這樣朝拜他的人。	²³But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true adorers shall adore the Father in spirit and in truth. For the Father also seeketh such to adore him.
²⁴天主是神，朝拜他的人，應當以心神以真理去朝拜他。」	²⁴God is a spirit; and they that adore him, must adore him in spirit and in truth.
²⁵婦人說：「我知道默西亞──意即基督──要來，他一來了，必會告訴我們一切。」	²⁵The woman saith to him: I know that the Messias cometh (who is called Christ). Therefore, when he is come, he will tell us all things.
²⁶耶穌向她說：「同你談話的我就是。」	²⁶Jesus saith to her: I am he, who am speaking with thee.
²⁷正在這時，他的門徒回來了，他們就驚奇他同一個婦人談話；但是沒有人問：「你要什麼？」或：「你同她談論什麼？」	²⁷And immediately his disciples came; and they wondered that he talked with the woman. Yet no man said: What seekest thou? or, why talkest thou with her?
²⁸於是那婦人撇下自己的水罐，往城裏去向人說：	²⁸The woman therefore left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men there:
²⁹「你們來看！有一個人說出了我所作過的一切事：莫非他就是默西亞嗎？」	²⁹Come, and see a man who has told me all things whatsoever I have done. Is not he the Christ?
³⁰眾人從城裏出來，往他那裏去。	³⁰They went therefore out of the city, and came unto him.
³¹這期間，門徒請求耶穌說：「辣彼，吃罷！」	³¹In the mean time the disciples prayed him, saying: Rabbi, eat.
³²他卻回答說：「我已有食物吃，那是你們所不知道的。」	³²But he said to them: I have meat to eat, which you know not.
³³門徒便彼此問說：「難道有人給他送來了吃的嗎？」	³³The disciples therefore said one to another: Hath any man brought him to eat?
³⁴耶穌向他們說：「我的食物就是承行派遣我者的旨意，完成他的工程。	³⁴Jesus saith to them: My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, that I may perfect his work.
³⁵你們不是說：還有四個月纔到收穫期嗎？看，我給你們說：舉起你們的眼，細看田地，莊稼已經發白，可以收割了。	³⁵Do you not say, There are yet four months, and then the harvest cometh? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes, and see the countries; for they are white already to harvest.
³⁶收割的人已領到工資，且為永生收集了果實，如此，撒種的和收割的將一同喜歡。	³⁶And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life everlasting: that both he that soweth, and he that reapeth, may rejoice together.
³⁷這正如俗語所說的：撒種的是一人，收割的是另一人。	³⁷For in this is the saying true: That it is one man that soweth, and it is another that reapeth.
³⁸我派遣你們在你們沒有勞過力的地方去收割；別人勞了力，而你們去收獲他們勞苦的成果。」	³⁸I have sent you to reap that in which you did not labour: others have laboured, and you have entered into their labours.
³⁹城裏有許多撒瑪黎雅人信從了耶穌，因為那婦人作證說：「他向我說出了我所作過的一切。」	³⁹Now of that city many of the Samaritans believed in him, for the word of the woman giving testimony: He told me all things whatsoever I have done.
⁴⁰這樣，那些撒瑪黎雅人來到耶穌前，請求他在他們那裏住下；耶穌就在那裏住了兩天。	⁴⁰So when the Samaritans were come to him, they desired that he would tarry there. And he abode there two days.
⁴¹還有更多的人因着他的講論，信從了他。	⁴¹And many more believed in him because of his own word.
⁴²他們向那婦人說：「現在我們信，不是為了你的話，而是因為我們親自聽見了，並知道他確實是世界的救主。」	⁴²And they said to the woman: We now believe, not for thy saying: for we ourselves have heard him, and know that this is indeed the Saviour of the world.
⁴³過了兩天，耶穌離開那裏，往加里肋亞去了。	⁴³Now after two days, he departed thence, and went into Galilee.
⁴⁴耶穌曾親自作證說：「先知在自己的家鄉決受不到尊榮。」	⁴⁴For Jesus himself gave testimony that a prophet hath no honour in his own country.
⁴⁵他一來到加里肋亞，加里肋亞人便接待了他，因為他們也曾上了耶路撒冷去過節，並親眼見了他在慶節中所行的一切。	⁴⁵And when he was come into Galilee, the Galileans received him, having seen all the things he had done at Jerusalem on the festival day; for they also went to the festival day.
⁴⁶耶穌又來到加里肋亞加納，即他變水為酒的地方，那裏有一位王臣，他的兒子在葛法翁患病。	⁴⁶He came again therefore into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain ruler, whose son was sick at Capharnaum.
⁴⁷這人一聽說耶穌從猶太到加里肋亞來了，就到他那裏去，懇求他下來醫治他的兒子，因為他快要死了。	⁴⁷He having heard that Jesus was come from Judea into Galilee, went to him, and prayed him to come down, and heal his son; for he was at the point of death.
⁴⁸耶穌對他說：「除非你們看到神蹟和奇事，你們總是不信。」	⁴⁸Jesus therefore said to him: Unless you see signs and wonders, you believe not.
⁴⁹那王臣向他說：「主，在我的小孩未死以前，請你下來罷！」	⁴⁹The ruler saith to him: Lord, come down before that my son die.
⁵⁰耶穌回答說：「去罷！你的兒子活了。」那人信了耶穌向他所說的話，便走了。	⁵⁰Jesus saith to him: Go thy way; thy son liveth. The man believed the word which Jesus said to him, and went his way.
⁵¹他正下去的時候，僕人們迎上他來，說他的孩子活了。	⁵¹And as he was going down, his servants met him; and they brought word, saying, that his son lived.
⁵²他問他們孩子病勢好轉的時刻，他們給他說：「昨天第七時辰，熱就退了。」	⁵²He asked therefore of them the hour wherein he grew better. And they said to him: Yesterday, at the seventh hour, the fever left him.
⁵³父親就知道正是耶穌向他說：「你的兒子活了」的那個時辰；他和他的全家便都信了。	⁵³The father therefore knew, that it was at the same hour that Jesus said to him, Thy son liveth; and himself believed, and his whole house.
⁵⁴這是耶穌從猶太回到加里肋亞後，所行的第二個神蹟。	⁵⁴This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judea into Galilee.
