| 1這些事以後，耶穌往加里肋亞海，即提庇黎雅海的對岸去了。 | 1After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is that of Tiberias. |
| 2大批群眾，因為看見他在患病者身上所行的神蹟，都跟隨着他。 | 2And a great multitude followed him, because they saw the miracles which he did on them that were diseased. |
| 3耶穌上了山，和他的門徒一起坐在那裏。 | 3Jesus therefore went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples. |
| 4那時，猶太人的慶節，即逾越節，已臨近了。 | 4Now the pasch, the festival day of the Jews, was near at hand. |
| 5耶穌舉目看見大批群眾來到他前，就對斐理伯說：「我們從那裏買餅給這些人吃呢？」 | 5When Jesus therefore had lifted up his eyes, and seen that a very great multitude cometh to him, he said to Philip: Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat? |
| 6他說這話，是為試探斐理伯；他自己原知道要作什麼。 | 6And this he said to try him; for he himself knew what he would do. |
| 7斐理伯回答說：「就是二百塊『德納』的餅，也不夠每人分得一小塊。」 | 7Philip answered him: Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one may take a little. |
| 8有一個門徒，即西滿伯多祿的哥哥安德肋說： | 8One of his disciples, Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, saith to him: |
| 9「這裏有一個兒童，他有五個大麥餅和兩條魚；但是為這麼多的人這算得什麼？」 | 9There is a boy here that hath five barley loaves, and two fishes; but what are these among so many? |
| 10耶穌說：「你們叫眾人坐下罷！」在那地方有許多青草，於是人們便坐下，男人約有五千。 | 10Then Jesus said: Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. The men therefore sat down, in number about five thousand. |
| 11耶穌就拿起餅，祝謝後，分給坐下的人；對於魚也照樣作了；讓眾人任意吃。 | 11And Jesus took the loaves: and when he had given thanks, he distributed to them that were set down. In like manner also of the fishes, as much as they would. |
| 12他們吃飽以後，耶穌向門徒說：「把剩下的碎塊收集起來，免得蹧蹋了。」 | 12And when they were filled, he said to his disciples: Gather up the fragments that remain, lest they be lost. |
| 13他們就把人吃後所剩下的五個大麥餅的碎塊，收集起來，裝滿了十二筐。 | 13They gathered up therefore, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above to them that had eaten. |
| 14眾人見了耶穌所行的神蹟，就說：「這人確實是那要來到世界上的先知。」 | 14Now those men, when they had seen what a miracle Jesus had done, said: This is of a truth the prophet, that is to come into the world. |
| 15耶穌看出他們要來強迫他，立他為王，就獨自又退避到山裏去 了。 | 15Jesus therefore, when he knew that they would come to take him by force, and make him king, fled again into the mountain himself alone. |
| 16到了晚上，他的門徒下到海邊， | 16And when evening was come, his disciples went down to the sea. |
| 17上船要到海對岸的葛法翁去。天已黑了，耶穌還沒有來到他們那裏。 | 17And when they had gone up into a ship, they went over the sea to Capharnaum; and it was now dark, and Jesus was not come unto them. |
| 18海上因起了大風，便翻騰起來。 | 18And the sea arose, by reason of a great wind that blew. |
| 19當他們搖櫓大約過了二十五或三十「斯塔狄」時，看見耶穌在海面上行走，臨近了船，便害怕起來。 | 19When they had rowed therefore about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking upon the sea, and drawing nigh to the ship, and they were afraid. |
| 20但他卻向他們說：「是我，不要害怕！」 | 20But he saith to them: It is I; be not afraid. |
| 21他們便欣然接他上船，船就立時到了他們所要去的地方。 | 21They were willing therefore to take him into the ship; and presently the ship was at the land to which they were going. |
| 22第二天，留在海對岸的群眾，看見只有一隻小船留在那裏，也知道耶穌沒有同他的門徒一起上船，只有他的門徒走了── | 22The next day, the multitude that stood on the other side of the sea, saw that there was no other ship there but one, and that Jesus had not entered into the ship with his disciples, but that his disciples were gone away alone. |
| 23然而從提庇黎雅有別的小船來到了，靠近吾主祝謝後，人們吃餅的地方── | 23But other ships came in from Tiberias; nigh unto the place where they had eaten the bread, the Lord giving thanks. |
| 24當群眾一發覺耶穌和他的門徒都不在那裏時，他們便上了那些小船，往葛法翁找耶穌去了。 | 24When therefore the multitude saw that Jesus was not there, nor his disciples, they took shipping, and came to Capharnaum, seeking for Jesus. |
| 25當群眾在海對岸找着他時，就對他說：「辣彼，你什麼時候到了這裏？」 | 25And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him: Rabbi, when camest thou hither? |
| 26耶穌回答說：「我實實在在告訴你們：你們尋找我，並不是因為看到了神蹟，而是因為吃餅吃飽了。 | 26Jesus answered them, and said: Amen, amen I say to you, you seek me, not because you have seen miracles, but because you did eat of the loaves, and were filled. |
| 27你們不要為那可損壞的食糧勞碌，而要為那存留到永生的食糧勞碌，即人子所要賜給你們的，因為他是天主聖父所印證的。」 | 27Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that which endureth unto life everlasting, which the Son of man will give you. For him hath God, the Father, sealed. |
| 28他們問說：「我們該做什麼，纔算做天主的事業呢？」 | 28They said therefore unto him: What shall we do, that we may work the works of God? |
| 29耶穌回答說：「天主要你們所做的事業，就是要你們信從他所派遣來的。」 | 29Jesus answered, and said to them: This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he hath sent. |
| 30他們又說：「那麼，你行什麼神蹟給我們看，好叫我們信服你呢？你要行什麼事呢？ | 30They said therefore to him: What sign therefore dost thou shew, that we may see, and may believe thee? What dost thou work? |
| 31我們的祖先在曠野裏吃過『瑪納』，正如經上所記載的：『他從天上賜給了他們食物吃。』」 | 31Our fathers did eat manna in the desert, as it is written: He gave them bread from heaven to eat. |
| 32於是耶穌向他們說：「我實實在在告訴你們：並不是梅瑟賜給了你們那從天上來的食糧，而是我父現今賜給你們從天上來的真正的食糧， | 32Then Jesus said to them: Amen, amen I say to you; Moses gave you not bread from heaven, but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. |
| 33因為天主的食糧，是那由天降下，並賜給世界生命的。」 | 33For the bread of God is that which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life to the world. |
| 34他們便說：「主！你就把這樣的食糧常常賜給我們罷！」 | 34They said therefore unto him: Lord, give us always this bread. |
| 35耶穌回答說：「我就是生命的食糧；到我這裏來的，永不會饑餓；信從我的，總不會渴。 | 35And Jesus said to them: I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall not hunger: and he that believeth in me shall never thirst. |
| 36但是，我向你們說過：你們看見了我，仍然不信。 | 36But I said unto you, that you also have seen me, and you believe not. |
| 37凡父交給我的，必到我這裏來；而到我這裏來的，我必不把他拋棄於外， | 37All that the Father giveth to me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me, I will not cast out. |
| 38因為我從天降下，不是為執行我的旨意，而是為執行派遣我來者的旨意。 | 38Because I came down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him that sent me. |
| 39派遣我來者的旨意就是：凡他交給我的，叫我連一個也不失掉，而且在末日還要使他復活， | 39Now this is the will of the Father who sent me: that of all that he hath given me, I should lose nothing; but should raise it up again in the last day. |
| 40因為這是我父的旨意：凡看見子，並信從子的，必獲得永生；並且在末日，我要使他復活。」 | 40And this is the will of my Father that sent me: that every one who seeth the Son, and believeth in him, may have life everlasting, and I will raise him up in the last day. |
| 41猶太人遂對耶穌竊竊私議，因為他說：我是從天上降下來的食糧。 | 41The Jews therefore murmured at him, because he had said: I am the living bread which came down from heaven. |
| 42他們說：「這人不是若瑟的兒子耶穌麼？他的父親和母親，我們豈不是都認識麼？怎麼他竟說：我是從天上降下來的呢？」 | 42And they said: Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How then saith he, I came down from heaven? |
| 43耶穌回答說：「你們不要彼此竊竊私議！ | 43Jesus therefore answered, and said to them: Murmur not among yourselves. |
| 44凡不是派遣我的父所吸引的人，誰也不能到我這裏來，而我在末日要叫他復活。 | 44No man can come to me, except the Father, who hath sent me, draw him; and I will raise him up in the last day. |
| 45在《先知書》上記載：『眾人都要蒙天主的訓誨。』凡由父聽教而學習的，必到我這裏來。 | 45It is written in the prophets: And they shall all be taught of God. Every one that hath heard of the Father, and hath learned, cometh to me. |
| 46這不是說有人看見過父，只有那從天主來的，纔看見過父。 | 46Not that any man hath seen the Father; but he who is of God, he hath seen the Father. |
| 47我實實在在告訴你們：信從的人，必得永生。 | 47Amen, amen I say unto you: He that believeth in me, hath everlasting life. |
| 48我是生命的食糧。 | 48I am the bread of life. |
| 49你們的祖先在曠野中吃過『瑪納』卻死了； | 49Your fathers did eat manna in the desert, and are dead. |
| 50這是從天上降下來的食糧，誰吃了，就不死。 | 50This is the bread which cometh down from heaven; that if any man eat of it, he may not die. |
| 51我是從天上降下的生活的食糧；誰若吃了這食糧，必要生活直到永遠。」「我所要賜給的食糧，就是我的肉，是為世界的生命而賜給的。」 | 51I am the living bread which came down from heaven. |
| 52因此，猶太人彼此爭論說：「這人怎能把他的肉，賜給我們吃呢？」 | 52If any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever; and the bread that I will give, is my flesh, for the life of the world. |
| 53耶穌向他們說：「我實實在在告訴你們：你們若不吃人子的肉，不喝他的血，在你們內，便沒有生命。 | 53The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying: How can this man give us his flesh to eat? |
| 54誰吃我的肉，並喝我的血，必得永生，在末日，我且要叫他復 活， | 54Then Jesus said to them: Amen, amen I say unto you: Except you eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, you shall not have life in you. |
| 55因為我的肉，是真實的食品；我的血，是真實的飲料。 | 55He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath everlasting life: and I will raise him up in the last day. |
| 56誰吃我的肉，並喝我的血，便住在我內，我也住在他內。 | 56For my flesh is meat indeed: and my blood is drink indeed. |
| 57就如那生活的父派遣了我，我因父而生活；照樣，那吃我的人，也要因我而生活。 | 57He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, abideth in me, and I in him. |
| 58這是從天上降下來的食糧，不像祖先吃了『瑪納』仍然死了；誰吃這食糧，必要生活直到永遠。」 | 58As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father; so he that eateth me, the same also shall live by me. |
| 59這些話是耶穌在葛法翁會堂教訓人時說的。 | 59This is the bread that came down from heaven. Not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead. He that eateth this bread, shall live for ever. |
| 60他的門徒中有許多聽了，便說：「這話生硬，誰能聽得下去呢？」 | 60These things he said, teaching in the synagogue, in Capharnaum. |
| 61耶穌自知他的門徒對這話竊竊私議，便向他們說：「這話使你們起反感嗎？ | 61Many therefore of his disciples, hearing it, said: This saying is hard, and who can hear it? |
| 62那麼，如果你們看到人子昇到他先前所在的地方去，將怎樣呢？ | 62But Jesus, knowing in himself, that his disciples murmured at this, said to them: Doth this scandalize you? |
| 63使生活的是神，肉一無所用；我給你們所講論的話，就是神，就是生命。 | 63If then you shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before? |
| 64但你們中間有些人，卻不相信。」原來，耶穌從起頭就知道那些人不信，和誰要出賣他。 | 64It is the spirit that quickeneth: the flesh profiteth nothing. The words that I have spoken to you, are spirit and life. |
| 65所以他又說：「為此，我對你們說過：除非蒙父恩賜的，誰也不能到我這裏來。」 | 65But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning, who they were that did not believe, and who he was, that would betray him. |
| 66從此，他的門徒中有許多人退去了，不再同他往來。 | 66And he said: Therefore did I say to you, that no man can come to me, unless it be given him by my Father. |
| 67於是耶穌向那十二人說：「難道你們也願走嗎？」 | 67After this many of his disciples went back; and walked no more with him. |
| 68西滿伯多祿回答說：「主！惟你有永生的話，我們去投奔誰呢？ | 68Then Jesus said to the twelve: Will you also go away? |
| 69我們相信，而且已知道你是天主的聖者。」 | 69And Simon Peter answered him: Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. |
| 70耶穌對他們說：「我不是揀選了你們十二個人嗎？你們中卻有一個是魔鬼。」 | 70And we have believed and have known, that thou art the Christ, the Son of God. |
| 71他是指依斯加略人西滿的兒子猶達斯說的；因為就是這人，十二人中的一個，將要出賣耶穌。 | 71Jesus answered them: Have not I chosen you twelve; and one of you is a devil? |
| 72 | 72Now he meant Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon: for this same was about to betray him, whereas he was one of the twelve. |
