| 1上主安排了一條大魚，吞了約納；約納在魚腹裏，三天三夜。 | 1Now the Lord prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonas: and Jonas was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights. |
| 2約納從魚腹裏，祈求上主，他的天主。 | 2And Jonas prayed to the Lord his God out of the belly of the fish. |
| 3他說：「我在患難中，呼求上主，他便應允了我；我從陰府的深處呼求，你便俯聽了我的呼聲。 | 3And he said: I cried out of my affliction to the Lord, and he heard me: I cried out of the belly of hell, and thou hast heard my voice. |
| 4你將我拋入海心深處，大水包圍了我；你的波濤和巨浪漫過了我。 | 4And thou hast cast me forth into the deep in the heart of the sea, and a flood hath compassed me: all thy billows, and thy waves have passed over me. |
| 5我曾說：我雖從你面前被拋棄，但我仍要瞻仰你的聖殿。 | 5And I said: I am cast away out of the sight of thy eyes: but yet I shall see thy holy temple again. |
| 6大水圍困我，危及我的性命；深淵包圍我，海草纏住我的頭。 | 6The waters compassed me about even to the soul: the deep hath closed me round about, the sea hath covered my head. |
| 7我下沉直到礁底，大地的門閂永為我關閉。上主，我的天主！你卻從坑裏救出了我的性命。 | 7I went down to the lowest parts of the mountains: the bars of the earth have shut me up for ever: and thou wilt bring up my life from corruption, O Lord my God. |
| 8當我奄奄一息時，我記起了上主；我的祈禱達於你前，達於你的聖殿中。 | 8When my soul was in distress within me, I remembered the Lord: that my prayer may come to thee, unto thy holy temple. |
| 9敬奉虛無偶像的人，實在是捨棄了慈愛的根源。 | 9They that are vain observe vanities, forsake their own mercy. |
| 10至於我，我要在頌謝的歌聲中，向你獻祭，償還我許的誓願。救恩屬於上主！」 | 10But I with the voice of praise will sacrifice to thee: I will pay whatsoever I have vowed for my salvation to the Lord. |
| 11當時，上主命令那魚，那魚便將約納吐在陸地上。 | 11And the Lord spoke to the fish: and it vomited out Jonas upon the dry land. |
