| 1當耶路撒冷王阿多尼責德克聽說若蘇厄攻佔了哈依，完全予以毀滅，對待哈依和哈依王如對待耶里哥和耶里哥王一樣；又聽說基貝紅居民已與以色列媾和，可住在他們中間， | 1When Adonisedec king of Jerusalem had heard these things, to wit, that Josue had taken Hai, and had destroyed it, (for as he had done to Jericho and the king thereof, so did he to Hai, and its king,) and that the Gabaonites were gone over to Israel, and were their confederates, |
| 2大為震驚，因為基貝紅是座大城，像座京城，比哈依還大，城中的人又都勇敢。 | 2He was exceedingly afraid. For Gabaon was a great city, and one of the royal cities, and greater than the town of Hai, and all its fighting men were most valiant. |
| 3耶路撒冷王阿多尼責德克遂打發使者去見赫貝龍王曷罕、雅爾慕特王丕蘭、拉基士王雅非亞和厄革隆王德彼爾說： | 3Therefore Adonisedec king of Jerusalem sent to Oham king of Hebron, and to Pharam king of Jerimoth, and to Japhia king of Lachis, and to Dabir king of Eglon, saying: |
| 4「請你們前來援助我，攻打基貝紅，因為這城已與若蘇厄和以色列人媾和。」 | 4Come up to me, and bring help, that we may take Gabaon, because it hath gone over to Josue, and to the children of Israel. |
| 5那五個阿摩黎王，即耶路撒冷王、赫貝龍王、雅爾慕特王、拉基士王和厄革隆王聯合起來，率領他們所有的軍隊上去包圍了基貝紅，合力進攻。 | 5So the five kings of the Amorrhites being assembled together went up: the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jerimoth, the king of Lachis, the king of Eglon, they and their armies, and camped about Gabaon, laying siege to it. |
| 6基貝紅人即派人到基耳加耳營中見若蘇厄說：「你不要袖手不顧你的僕人，請快上來援救，扶助我們，因為住在山地的眾阿摩黎王都聯合起來攻擊我們。」 | 6But the inhabitants of the city of Gabaon which was besieged, sent to Josue, who then abode in the camp at Galgal, and said to him: Withdraw not thy hands from helping thy servants: come up quickly and save us, and bring us succour: for all the kings of the Amorrhites, who dwell in the mountains, are gathered together against us. |
| 7若蘇厄遂親率他的一切軍民，和所有的精兵，從基耳加耳上去了。 | 7And Josue went up from Galgal, and all the army of the warriors with him, most valiant men. |
| 8上主對若蘇厄說：「你不要怕他們，因為我已將他們交在你手中，沒有一人能抵抗你。」 | 8And the Lord said to Josue: Fear them not: for I have delivered them into thy hands: none of them shall be able to stand against thee. |
| 9若蘇厄由基耳加耳出發，整夜行軍，出其不意，突然向他們進攻。 | 9So Josue going up from Galgal all the night, came upon them suddenly. |
| 10上主使他們在以色列人前大為混亂，以色列人在基貝紅將他們完全擊敗，隨後在往貝特曷龍的上坡路上追趕他們，擊殺他們直到阿則卡，直到瑪刻達。 | 10And the Lord troubled them at the sight of Israel: and he slew them with a great slaughter in Gabaon, and pursued them by the way of the ascent to Beth-horon, and cut them off all the way to Azeca and Maceda. |
| 11當他們逃避以色列人，來到貝特曷龍下坡時，上主從天上降下冰雹，落在他們身上，直落到阿則卡，死傷無數；為冰雹砸死的人，比以色列用刀殺死的還多。 | 11And when they were fleeing from the children of Israel, and were in the descent of Beth-horon, the Lord cast down upon them great stones from heaven as far as Azeca: and many more were killed with the hailstones than were slain by the swords of the children of Israel. |
| 12上主將阿摩黎人交於以色列子民的那一天，若蘇厄當着以色列人的面對上主說：「太陽！停在基貝紅！月亮！停在阿雅隆谷！」 | 12Then Josue spoke to the Lord, in the day that he delivered the Amorrhite in the sight of the children of Israel, and he said before them: Move not, O sun, toward Gabaon, nor thou, O moon, toward the valley of Ajalon. |
| 13太陽果然停住，月亮站住不動，直到百姓報復了自己的仇敵。這事豈不是記載在《義士書》上了嗎？太陽停在空中，未急速下落，約有一整天。 | 13And the sun and the moon stood still, till the people revenged themselves of their enemies. Is not this written in the book of the just? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down the space of one day. |
| 14以前或以後，從來沒有一天像這天一樣。上主這樣俯聽了人的呼聲，因為是上主在為以色列人作戰。 | 14There was not before nor after so long a day, the Lord obeying the voice of a man, and fighting for Israel. |
| 15此後，若蘇厄和所有跟隨他的以色列人，回了基耳加耳營。 | 15And Josue returned with all Israel into the camp of Galgal. |
| 16至於那五個逃脫的王子，藏在瑪刻達山洞裏， | 16For the five kings were fled, and had hidden themselves in a cave of the city of Maceda. |
| 17有人來通知若蘇厄說：「那五個王子已被發現，藏在瑪刻達山洞裏。」 | 17And it was told Josue that the five kings were found hidden in a cave of the city of Maceda. |
| 18若蘇厄吩咐說：「你們把幾塊大石滾到洞口，派人看守。 | 18And he commanded them that were with him, saying: Roll great stones to the mouth of the cave, and set careful men, to keep them shut up: |
| 19你們不可停下來，要去追趕敵人，切斷他們的後路，不容他們逃入城中，因為上主你們的天主，已將他們交在你們手中。」 | 19And stay you not, but pursue after the enemies, and kill all the hindermost of them as they flee, and do not suffer them whom the Lord God hath delivered into your hands to shelter themselves in their cities. |
| 20若蘇厄和以色列子民殺得他們慘敗，幾乎將他們全部消滅，只剩下一些逃脫的人進入了堅城。 | 20So the enemies being slain with a great slaughter, and almost utterly consumed, they that were able to escape from Israel, entered into fenced cities. |
| 21軍民都平安無恙地回到瑪刻達營見若蘇厄。以後沒有人再敢侮辱以色列子民。 | 21And all the army returned to Josue in Maceda, where the camp then was, in good health and without the loss of any one: and no man durst move his tongue against the children of Israel. |
| 22那時若蘇厄說：「你們去打開洞口，把那五個王子從洞裏拉出，帶到我這裏來。」 | 22And Josue gave orders, saying: Open the mouth of the cave, and bring forth to me the five kings that lie hid therein. |
| 23人就去，將那五個王子，就是耶路撒冷王、赫貝龍王、雅爾慕特王、拉基士王和厄革隆王，從洞裏拉出，帶到他面前。 | 23And the ministers did as they were commanded: and they brought out to him the five kings out of the cave: the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jerimoth, the king of Lachis, the king of Eglon. |
| 24當人們把那些王子帶到若蘇厄面前時， | 24And when they were Drought out to him, he called all the men of Israel, and said to the chiefs of the army that were with him: Go, and set your feet on the necks of these kings. And when they had gone, and put their feet upon the necks of them lying under them, |
| 25若蘇厄將所有的以色列人召來，對那些與他同去作戰的軍長說：「你們前來，將腳踏在這些王子的脖子上！」他們就前來，將腳踏在那些王子的脖子上。若蘇厄對他們說：「你們不要害怕，不要沮喪，只要勇敢果斷，因為上主必要這樣對待你們所征服的一切仇人。」 | 25He said again to them: Fear not, neither be ye dismayed, take courage and be strong: for so will the Lord do to all your enemies, against whom you fight. |
| 26隨後，若蘇厄將那五個王子殺死，將他們懸在五棵樹上，直懸至晚上。 | 26And Josue struck, and slew them, and hanged them upon five gibbets, and they hung until the evening. |
| 27到太陽快落的時候，若蘇厄命人將他們由樹上放下來，丟在他們藏過的山洞裏，用大石頭塞住洞口；那些大石至今尚在。 | 27And when the sun was down, he commanded the soldiers to take them down from the gibbets. And after they were taken down, they cast them into the cave where they had lain hid, and put great stones at the mouth thereof, which remain until this day. |
| 28若蘇厄當天就佔領了瑪刻達，並用利劍擊殺了那城和城中的王子，並將城中的一切生靈完全毀滅，一個也沒有留下；他對待瑪刻達王如對待耶里哥王一樣。 | 28The same day Josue took Maceda and destroyed it, with the edge of the sword, and killed the king and all the inhabitants thereof: he left not in it the least remains. And he did to the king of Maceda, as he had done to the king of Jericho. |
| 29若蘇厄和跟隨他的眾以色列人，由瑪刻達往里貝納推進，攻打里貝納。 | 29And he passed from Maceda with all Israel to Lebna, and fought against it: |
| 30上主也將這城和城中的王子交在以色列人手中；他們用利劍擊殺了城和城中的一切生靈，一個也沒有留下；他對待這城的王子如對待耶里哥王一樣。 | 30And the Lord delivered it with the king thereof into the hands of Israel: and they destroyed the city with the edge of the sword, and all the inhabitants thereof. They left not in it any remains. And they did to the king of Lebna, as they had done to the king of Jericho. |
| 31若蘇厄和跟隨他的眾以色列人，又從里貝納往拉基士推進，圍攻拉基士， | 31From Lebna he passed unto Lachis, with all Israel: and investing it with his army, besieged it. |
| 32上主將拉基士也交在以色列人手中。第二天若蘇厄就攻取了拉基士，用利劍擊殺了那城和城中的一切生靈，全如對待里貝納一樣。 | 32And the Lord delivered Lachis into the hands of Israel, and he took it the following day, and put it to the sword, and every soul that was in it, as he had done to Lebna. |
| 33那時，革則爾王曷蘭上來援救拉基士，若蘇厄也將他和他的人民殺盡，一個也沒有留下。 | 33At that time Horam king of Gazer, came up to succour Lachis: and Josue slew him with all his people, so as to leave none alive. |
| 34此後，若蘇厄和跟隨他的眾以色列人，由拉基士往厄革隆推進，圍攻厄革隆。 | 34And he passed from Lachis to Eglon, and surrounded it, |
| 35當天就攻下了那城，並在那天用利劍殺盡了那城和城中的一切生靈，全如對待拉基士一樣。 | 35And took it the same day: and put to the sword all the souls that were in it, according to all that he had done to Lachis. |
| 36此後，若蘇厄和跟隨他的眾以色列人，從厄革隆上到赫貝龍，攻打那城； | 36He went up also with all Israel from Eglon to Hebron, and fought against it: |
| 37佔領後，用利劍擊殺了那城和城中的王子，以及屬於他的一切城邑和城邑中的一切生靈，一個也沒有留下；將那城和城中的一切生靈完全消滅，全如對待厄革隆一樣。 | 37Took it, and destroyed it with the edge of the sword: the king also thereof, and all the towns of that country, and all the souls that dwelt in it: he left not therein any remains: as he had done to Eglon, so did he also to Hebron, putting to the sword all that he found in it. |
| 38此後，若蘇厄和跟隨他的眾以色列人，轉身向德彼爾推進，攻打那城； | 38Returning from thence to Dabir, |
| 39獲得了那城和那城的王子，以及屬德彼爾的一切城邑後，用利劍擊殺了他們，將這些城內的一切生靈完全毀滅，一個也沒有留下；對待德彼爾城和城中的王子，有如對待赫貝龍和赫貝龍的王子一樣，又如對待里貝納和里貝納王子一樣。 | 39He took it and destroyed it: the king also thereof and all the towns round about he destroyed with the edge of the sword: he left not in it any remains: as he had done to Hebron and Lebna and to their kings, so did he to Dabir and to the king thereof. |
| 40若蘇厄征服了那一帶地方，包括山地、乃革布、平原、山坡和那些地方的王子；並照上主以色列的天主的命令，消滅了所有的生靈，一個也沒有留下， | 40So Josue conquered all the country of the hills and of the south and of the plain, and of Asedoth, with their kings: he left not any remains therein, but slew all that breathed, as the Lord the God of Israel had commanded him, |
| 41由卡德士巴爾乃亞起，直到迦薩，以及哥笙全境，直到基貝紅。 | 41From Cadesbarne even to Gaza. All the land of Gosen even to Gabaon, |
| 42若蘇厄這次出征，能獲取所有的王子和他們的土地，是因為上主以色列的天主在為以色列人作戰。 | 42And all their kings, and their lands he took and wasted at one onset: for the Lord the God of Israel fought for him. |
| 43以後，若蘇厄和所有跟隨他的以色列人，回到基耳加耳營。 | 43And he returned with all Israel to the place of the camp in Galgal. |
