¹耶穌充滿聖神，由約但河回來，就被聖神引到荒野裏去了，	¹And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost, returned from the Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the desert,
²四十天的工夫受魔鬼試探；他在那日期內什麼也沒有吃，過了那日期就餓了。	²For the space of forty days; and was tempted by the devil. And he ate nothing in those days; and when they were ended, he was hungry.
³魔鬼對他說：「你若是天主子，命這塊石頭變成餅罷！」	³And the devil said to him: If thou be the Son of God, say to this stone that it be made bread.
⁴耶穌回答說：「經上記載：『人生活不只靠餅。』」	⁴And Jesus answered him: It is written, that Man liveth not by bread alone, but by every word of God.
⁵魔鬼引他到高處，頃刻間把普世萬國指給他看，	⁵And the devil led him into a high mountain, and shewed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time;
⁶並對他說：「這一切權勢及其榮華，我都要給你，因為全交給我了；我願意把它給誰，就給誰。	⁶And he said to him: To thee will I give all this power, and the glory of them; for to me they are delivered, and to whom I will, I give them.
⁷所以，你若是朝拜我，這一切都是你的。」	⁷If thou therefore wilt adore before me, all shall be thine.
⁸耶穌回答說：「經上記載：『你要朝拜上主，你的天主；惟獨奉侍他。』」	⁸And Jesus answering said to him: It is written: Thou shalt adore the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
⁹魔鬼又引他到耶路撒冷，把他放在聖殿頂上，向他說：「你若是天主子，從這裏跳下去罷！	⁹And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and he said to him: If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself from hence.
¹⁰因為經上記載：『他為你吩咐了自己的天使保護你，	¹⁰For it is written, that He hath given his angels charge over thee, that they keep thee.
¹¹他們要用手托着你，免得你的腳踫在石頭上。』」	¹¹And that in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest perhaps thou dash thy foot against a stone.
¹²耶穌回答說：「經上說：『不可試探上主，你的天主。』」	¹²And Jesus answering, said to him: It is said: Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
¹³魔鬼用盡了各種試探後，就離開了他，再等時機。	¹³And all the temptation being ended, the devil departed from him for a time.
¹⁴耶穌因聖神的德能，回到加里肋亞。他的名聲傳遍了臨近各地。	¹⁴And Jesus returned in the power of the spirit, into Galilee, and the fame of him went out through the whole country.
¹⁵他在他們的會堂內施教，受到眾人的稱揚。	¹⁵And he taught in their synagogues, and was magnified by all.
¹⁶他來到了納匝肋，自己曾受教養的地方；按他的習慣，就在安息日那天進了會堂，並站起來要誦讀。	¹⁶And he came to Nazareth, where he was brought up: and he went into the synagogue, according to his custom, on the sabbath day; and he rose up to read.
¹⁷有人把《依撒意亞先知書》遞給他；他遂展開書卷，找到了一處，上邊寫說：	¹⁷And the book of Isaias the prophet was delivered unto him. And as he unfolded the book, he found the place where it was written:
¹⁸「上主的神臨於我身上，因為他給我傅了油，派遣我向貧窮人傳報喜訊，向俘虜宣告釋放，向盲者宣告復明，使受壓迫者獲得自由，	¹⁸The Spirit of the Lord is upon me. Wherefore he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor, he hath sent me to heal the contrite of heart,
¹⁹宣布上主恩慈之年。」	¹⁹To preach deliverance to the captives, and sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of reward.
²⁰他把書卷捲起來，交給侍役，就坐下了。會堂內眾人的眼睛都注視着他。	²⁰And when he had folded the book, he restored it to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him.
²¹他便開始對他們說：「你們剛才聽過的這段聖經，今天應驗了。」	²¹And he began to say to them: This day is fulfilled this scripture in your ears.
²²眾人都稱讚他，驚奇他口中所說的動聽的話；並且說：「這不是若瑟的兒子嗎？」	²²And all gave testimony to him: and they wondered at the words of grace that proceeded from his mouth, and they said: Is not this the son of Joseph?
²³他回答他們說：「你們必定要對我說這句俗語：醫生，醫治你自己罷！我們聽說你在葛法翁所行的一切，也在你的家鄉這裏行罷！」	²³And he said to them: Doubtless you will say to me this similitude: Physician, heal thyself: as great things as we have heard done in Capharnaum, do also here in thy own country.
²⁴他又說：「我實在告訴你們：沒有一個先知在本鄉受悅納的。	²⁴And he said: Amen I say to you, that no prophet is accepted in his own country.
²⁵我據實告訴你們：在厄里亞時代，天閉塞了三年零六個月，遍地起了大饑荒，在以色列原有許多寡婦，	²⁵In truth I say to you, there were many widows in the days of Elias in Israel, when heaven was shut up three years and six months, when there was a great famine throughout all the earth.
²⁶厄里亞並沒有被派到她們中一個那裏去，而只到了漆冬匝爾法特的一個寡婦那裏。	²⁶And to none of them was Elias sent, but to Sarepta of Sidon, to a widow woman.
²⁷在厄里叟先知時代，在以色列有許多癩病人，他們中沒有一個得潔淨的，只有敘利亞的納阿曼。」	²⁷And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet: and none of them was cleansed but Naaman the Syrian.
²⁸在會堂中聽見這話的人，都忿怒填胸，	²⁸And all they in the synagogue, hearing these things, were filled with anger.
²⁹起來把他趕出城外，領他到了山崖上──他們的城是建在山上的──要把他推下去。	²⁹And they rose up and thrust him out of the city; and they brought him to the brow of the hill, whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.
³⁰他卻由他們中間過去走了。	³⁰But he passing through the midst of them, went his way.
³¹耶穌下到加里肋亞的葛法翁城，就在安息日教訓人。	³¹And he went down into Capharnaum, a city of Galilee, and there he taught them on the sabbath days.
³²人都十分驚奇他的教訓，因為他的話具有一種權威。	³²And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his speech was with power.
³³在會堂裏有一個附着邪魔惡鬼的人，他大聲喊叫說：	³³And in the synagogue there was a man who had an unclean devil, and he cried out with a loud voice,
³⁴「啊！納匝肋人耶穌，我們與你有什麼相干？你來毀滅我們嗎！我知道你是誰：是天主的聖者。」	³⁴Saying: Let us alone, what have we to do with thee, Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the holy one of God.
³⁵耶穌叱責他說：「不要作聲！從這人身上出去！」魔鬼把那人摔倒在人中間，便從他身上出去了，絲毫沒有傷害他。	³⁵And Jesus rebuked him, saying: Hold thy peace, and go out of him. And when the devil had thrown him into the midst, he went out of him, and hurt him not at all.
³⁶遂有一種驚駭籠罩了眾人，他們彼此談論說：「這是什麼事？他用權柄和能力命令邪魔，而他們竟出去了！」	³⁶And there came fear upon all, and they talked among themselves, saying: What word is this, for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they go out?
³⁷他的名聲便傳遍了附近各地。	³⁷And the fame of him was published into every place of the country.
³⁸他從會堂裏出來，進了西滿的家。西滿的岳母正發高熱，他們為她祈求耶穌。	³⁸And Jesus rising up out of the synagogue, went into Simon's house. And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever, and they besought him for her.
³⁹耶穌就走到她身邊，叱退熱症，熱症就離開了她；她立刻起來服事他們。	³⁹And standing over her, he commanded the fever, and it left her. And immediately rising, she ministered to them.
⁴⁰日落後，眾人把所有患各種病症的，都領到他跟前，他就把手覆在每一個人身上，治好了他們。	⁴⁰And when the sun was down, all they that had any sick with divers diseases, brought them to him. But he laying his hands on every one of them, healed them.
⁴¹又有些從許多人身上出來的魔鬼吶喊說：「你是天主子！」他便叱責他們，不許他們說話，因為他們知道他是默西亞。	⁴¹And devils went out from many, crying out and saying: Thou art the Son of God. And rebuking them he suffered them not to speak, for they knew that he was Christ.
⁴²天一亮，耶穌就出去到了荒野地方；群眾就尋找他，一直來到他那裏，挽留他不要離開他們。	⁴²And when it was day, going out he went into a desert place, and the multitudes sought him, and came unto him: and they stayed him that he should not depart from them.
⁴³他卻向他們說：「我也必須向別的城傳報天主國的喜訊，因為我被派遣，正是為了這事。」	⁴³To whom he said: To other cities also I must preach the kingdom of God: for therefore am I sent.
⁴⁴他就常在猶太的各會堂中宣講。	⁴⁴And he was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.
