¹那時，耶穌被聖神領往曠野，為受魔鬼的試探。	¹Then Jesus was led by the spirit into the desert, to be tempted by the devil.
²他四十天四十夜禁食，後來就餓了。	²And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterwards he was hungry.
³試探者就前來對他說：「你若是天主子，就命這些石頭變成餅罷！」	³And the tempter coming said to him: If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
⁴他回答說：「經上記載：『人生活不只靠餅，而也靠天主口中所發的一切言語。』」	⁴Who answered and said: It is written, Not in bread alone doth man live, but in every word that proceedeth from the mouth of God.
⁵那時，魔鬼引他到了聖城，把他立在殿頂上，	⁵Then the devil took him up into the holy city, and set him upon the pinnacle of the temple,
⁶對他說：「你若是天主子，就跳下去，因經上記載：『他為你吩咐了自己的天使，他們要用手托着你，免得你的腳碰在石頭上。』」	⁶And said to him: If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down, for it is written: That he hath given his angels charge over thee, and in their hands shall they bear thee up, lest perhaps thou dash thy foot against a stone.
⁷耶穌對他說：「經上又記載：『你不可試探上主，你的天主！』」	⁷Jesus said to him: It is written again: Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
⁸魔鬼又把他帶到一座極高的山上，將世上的一切國度及其榮華指給他看，	⁸Again the devil took him up into a very high mountain, and shewed him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them,
⁹對他說：「你若俯伏朝拜我，我必把這一切交給你。」	⁹And said to him: All these will I give thee, if falling down thou wilt adore me.
¹⁰那時，耶穌就對他說：「去罷！撒殫！因為經上記載：『你要朝拜上主，你的天主，惟獨事奉他。』」	¹⁰Then Jesus saith to him: Begone, Satan: for it is written, The Lord thy God shalt thou adore, and him only shalt thou serve.
¹¹於是魔鬼離開了他，就有天使前來伺候他。	¹¹Then the devil left him; and behold angels came and ministered to him.
¹²耶穌聽到若翰被監禁以後，就退避到加里肋亞去了；	¹²And when Jesus had heard that John was delivered up, he retired into Galilee:
¹³後又離開納匝肋，來住在海邊的葛法翁，即住在則步隆和納斐塔里境內。	¹³And leaving the city Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capharnaum on the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim;
¹⁴這應驗了依撒意亞先知所說的話：	¹⁴That it might be fulfilled which was said by Isaias the prophet:
¹⁵「則步隆地與納斐塔里地，通海大路，約但河東，外方人的加里肋亞，	¹⁵Land of Zabulon and land of Nephthalim, the way of the sea beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles:
¹⁶那坐在黑暗中的百姓，看見了浩光；那些坐在死亡陰影之地的人，為他們出現了光明。」	¹⁶The people that sat in darkness, hath seen great light: and to them that sat in the region of the shadow of death, light is sprung up.
¹⁷從那時起，耶穌開始宣講說：「你們悔改罷！因為天國臨近了。」	¹⁷From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say: Do penance, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
¹⁸耶穌沿加里肋亞海行走時，看見了兩個兄弟：稱為伯多祿的西滿，和他的兄弟安德肋，在海裏撒網，他們原是漁夫。	¹⁸And Jesus walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea (for they were fishers).
¹⁹他就對他們說：「來，跟從我！我要使你們成為漁人的漁夫。」	¹⁹And he saith to them: Come ye after me, and I will make you to be fishers of men.
²⁰他們立刻捨下網，跟隨了他。	²⁰And they immediately leaving their nets, followed him.
²¹他從那裏再往前行，看見了另外兩個兄弟：載伯德的兒子雅各伯和他的弟弟若望，在船上同自己的父親載伯德修理他們的網，就召叫了他們。	²¹And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets: and he called them.
²²他們也立刻捨下魚船和自己的父親，跟隨了他。	²²And they forthwith left their nets and father, and followed him.
²³耶穌走遍了全加里肋亞，在他們的會堂內施教，宣講天國的福音，治好民間各種疾病，各種災殃。	²³And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom: and healing all manner of sickness and every infirmity, among the people.
²⁴他的名聲傳遍了整個敘利亞。人就把一切有病的、受各種疾病痛苦煎熬的、附魔的，癲瘋的、癱瘓的，都給他送來，他都治好了他們。	²⁴And his fame went throughout all Syria, and they presented to him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and such as were possessed by devils, and lunatics, and those that had palsy, and he cured them:
²⁵於是有許多群眾從加里肋亞、「十城區」、耶路撒冷、猶太和約但河東岸來跟隨了他。	²⁵And much people followed him from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judea, and from beyond the Jordan.
