| 1惟願你們傾聽上主所說的話：「起來，在諸山面前進行訴訟，使諸丘陵能聽見你的聲音！」 | 1Hear ye what the Lord saith: Arise, contend thou in judgment against the mountains, and let the hills hear thy voice. |
| 2諸山！請聽上主的申訴；大地的基礎，側耳聆聽罷！因為上主與他的人民有所爭訟，與以色列有所爭辯： | 2Let the mountains hear the judgment of the Lord, and the strong foundations of the earth: for the Lord will enter into judgment with his people, and he will plead against Israel. |
| 3「我的人民！我對你做了什麼？我在什麼事上叫你討厭？請你答覆我！ | 3O my people, what have I done to thee, or in what have I molested thee? answer thou me. |
| 4難道是因為我由埃及地領了你上來，從奴隸之家贖了你回來，在你面前委派了梅瑟、亞郎和米黎盎？ | 4For I brought thee up out of the land of Egypt, and delivered thee out of the house of slaves: and I sent before thy face Moses, and Aaron, and Mary. |
| 5我的人民，請你記憶摩阿布王巴拉克圖謀過什麼事，貝敖爾的兒子巴郎答應了他什麼；再記憶從史廷到基耳加耳發生過什麼事，好使你明瞭上主的仁慈作為。」 | 5O my people, remember, I pray thee, what Balach the king of Moab purposed: and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him, from Setim to Galgal, that thou mightest know the justices of the Lord. |
| 6「我要到上主那裏，叩拜至高者天主，應進獻什麼？應進獻全燔祭，還是應進獻一歲的牛犢？ | 6What shall I offer to the Lord that is worthy? wherewith shall I kneel before the high God? shall I offer holocausts unto him, and calves of a year old? |
| 7上主豈喜悅萬千的公羊，或萬道河流的油？為了我的過犯，我應否獻上我的長子？為了我靈魂的罪惡，我應否獻上我親生的兒子？」 | 7May the Lord be appeased with thousands of rams, or with many thousands of fat he goats? shall I give my firstborn for my wickedness, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? |
| 8人啊！已通知了你，什麼是善，上主要求於你的是什麼：無非就是履行正義，愛好慈善，虛心與你的天主來往。 | 8I will shew thee, O man, what is good, and what the Lord requireth of thee: Verily, to do judgment, and to love mercy, and to walk solicitous with thy God. |
| 9聽，上主向城邑的呼聲：我必拯救敬畏我名的人。支派和城市的會眾，靜聽： | 9The voice of the Lord crieth to the city, and salvation shall be to them that fear thy name: hear, O ye tribes, and who shall approve it? |
| 10我豈能忘掉惡人家中的不義之財，和那可詛咒的小「厄法」？ | 10As yet there is a fire in the house of the wicked, the treasures of iniquity, and a scant measure full of wrath. |
| 11我豈能把用欺騙的天秤和囊中有假法碼的人視為清廉？ | 11Shall I justify wicked balances, and the deceitful weights of the bag? |
| 12城中的富人充滿了強暴，其中的居民好說謊話，滿口欺詐； | 12By which her rich men were filled with iniquity, and the inhabitants thereof have spoken lies, and their tongue was deceitful in their mouth. |
| 13因此，我纔開始打擊你，為了你的罪惡使你荒涼。 | 13And I therefore began to strike thee with desolation for thy sins. |
| 14你要吃，卻吃不飽，腹中常感到空虛；你縱然能把寶藏搬走，卻不能保全；即使你能保全，我也必要付之於刀劍。 | 14Thou shalt eat, but shalt not be filled: and thy humiliation shall be in the midst of thee: and thou shalt take hold, but shalt not save: and those whom thou shalt save, I will give up to the sword. |
| 15你要播種，卻得不到收穫；你要榨橄欖油，卻得不到油抹身；你要榨葡萄酒，卻得不到酒喝。 | 15Thou shalt sow, but shalt not reap: thou shalt tread the olives, but shalt not be anointed with the oil: and the new wine, but shalt not drink the wine. |
| 16因為你遵守了敖默黎的法令，保存了阿哈布家的一切作風，遵循了他們的主張；因此，我必要使你荒涼，使你的居民成為笑柄；你必要承擔異民的侮辱。 | 16For thou hast kept the statutes of Amri, and all the works of the house of Achab: and thou hast walked according to their wills, that I should make thee a desolation, and the inhabitants thereof a hissing, and you shall bear the reproach of my people. |
