| 1智慧之子，聽從父親的教訓；輕狂的人，不聽任何人規勸。 | 1A wise son heareth the doctrine of his father: but he that is a scorner, beareth not when he is reproved. |
| 2義人必飽嘗自己口舌的果實，惡人的慾望只有飽食強暴。 | 2Of the fruit of his own mouth shall a man be filled with good things: but the soul of transgressors is wicked. |
| 3謹口慎言，方能自保性命；信口開河，終必自取滅亡。 | 3He that keepeth his mouth, keepeth his soul: but he that hath no guard on his speech shall meet with evils. |
| 4懶人雖常盼望，卻一無所得；勤勞的人，卻常如願以償。 | 4The sluggard willeth and willeth not: but the soul of them that work, shall be made fat. |
| 5義人憎惡謊言，惡人令人可憎可惡。 | 5The just shall hate a lying word: but the wicked confoundeth, and shall be confounded. |
| 6正義保衛行為正直的人，邪惡卻使罪人滅亡。 | 6Justice keepeth the way of the innocent: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner. |
| 7有人自充富人，其實一貧如洗；有人佯作窮人，其實腰纏萬貫。 | 7One is as it were rich, when he hath nothing: and another is as it were poor, when he hath great riches. |
| 8富人的錢財只是性命的贖價，窮人卻沒有這樣的威脅。 | 8The ransom of a man's life are his riches: but he that is poor beareth not reprehension. |
| 9義人的光明，必要高升；惡人的燈火，勢必熄滅。 | 9The light of the just giveth joy: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out. |
| 10傲慢只有引起爭端，虛心受教的人纔有智慧。 | 10Among the proud there are always contentions: but they that do all things with counsel, are ruled by wisdom. |
| 11儻來之物，容易消逝；經久積存，日漸增多。 | 11Substance got in haste shall be diminished: but that which by little and little is gathered with the hand shall increase. |
| 12希望遲不兌現，令人心神煩惱；願望獲得滿足，像株生命樹。 | 12Hope that is deferred afflicteth the soul: desire when it cometh is a tree of life. |
| 13誰輕視法令，必遭滅亡；誰敬畏誡命，必得安全。 | 13Whosoever speaketh ill of any thing, bindeth himself for the time to come: but he that feareth the commandment, shall dwell in peace. Deceitful souls go astray in sins: the just are merciful, and shew mercy. |
| 14智慧人的教訓是生命的泉源，人可賴以脫免死亡的羅網。 | 14The law of the wise is a fountain of life, that he may decline from the ruin of death. |
| 15明哲的規勸，使人蒙恩，殘暴人的舉止，粗魯蠻橫。 | 15Good instruction shall give grace: in the way of scorners is a deep pit. |
| 16精明的人，常按理智行事；愚昧的人，只自誇其糊塗。 | 16The prudent man doth all things with counsel: but he that is a fool, layeth open his folly. |
| 17奸侫的使者，使人陷於災禍；忠誠的使者，給人帶來安和。 | 17The messenger of the wicked shall fall into mischief: but a faithful ambassador is health. |
| 18拒絕規勸的，必遭貧苦羞辱；接受懲戒的，反要受人尊敬。 | 18Poverty and shame to him that refuseth instruction: but he that yieldeth to reproof, shall be glorified. |
| 19願望獲得滿足，能使心靈愉快；遠離邪惡，卻為愚昧人所深惡。 | 19The desire that is accomplished, delighteth the soul: fools hate them that flee from evil things. |
| 20與智慧人往來，可成智慧人；與愚昧人作伴，必受其連累。 | 20He that walketh with the wise, shall be wise: a friend of fools shall become like to them. |
| 21惡運追蹤罪人，義人卻得善報。 | 21Evil pursueth sinners: and to the just good shall be repaid. |
| 22善人為子子孫孫留下產業，罪人的財富是為義人積蓄。 | 22The good man leaveth heirs, sons, and grandsons: and the substance of the sinner is kept for the just. |
| 23窮人開墾的田地，生產大量食物；誰若缺乏正義，定不免於滅亡。 | 23Much food is in the tillage of fathers: but for others it is gathered with out judgment. |
| 24不肯使用棍杖的人，實是恨自己的兒子，真愛兒子的人，必時加以懲罰。 | 24He that spareth the rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him correcteth him betimes. |
| 25義人必得飽食，惡人無以果腹。 | 25The just eateth and filleth his soul: but the belly of the wicked is never to be filled. |
