| 1內心策劃在於人，應允卻在於上主。 | 1It is the part of man to prepare the soul: and of the Lord to govern the tongue. |
| 2對自己的行為，人都自覺無瑕；但審察心靈的，卻是上主。 | 2All the ways of a man are open to his eyes: the Lord is the weigher of spirits. |
| 3將你的作為委託於上主，這樣你的計劃必會成功。 | 3Lay open thy works to the Lord: and thy thoughts shall be directed. |
| 4上主所造的各有其用意，連惡人也有不幸的一日。 | 4The Lord hath made all things for himself: the wicked also for the evil day. |
| 5居心傲慢的，上主必厭惡；這一類的人，逃不掉懲罰。 | 5Every proud man is an abomination to the Lord: though hand should be joined to hand, he is not innocent. The beginning of a good way is to do justice; and this is more acceptable with God, than to offer sacrifices. |
| 6藉慈善忠誠，可補贖罪過；藉敬畏上主，可避免罪惡。 | 6By mercy and truth iniquity is redeemed: and by the fear of the Lord men depart from evil. |
| 7世人的行徑，若中悅上主，他必使仇敵，再與他和好。 | 7When the ways of man shall please the Lord, he will convert even his enemies to peace. |
| 8收入少而守正義，勝於進款多而行不義。 | 8Better is a little with justice, than great revenues with iniquity. |
| 9人心裏都策劃自己的行徑；但他的步伐卻由上主支配。 | 9The heart of man disposeth his way: but the Lord must direct his steps. |
| 10神明的斷語，出自君王口；他口下判斷，必不致差錯。 | 10Divination is in the lips of the king, his mouth shall not err in judgment. |
| 11天秤和稱盤，屬上主所有；囊中的法碼，全由他制定。 | 11Weight and balance are judgments of the Lord: and his work all the weights of the bag. |
| 12君王最厭惡的是作惡，因為王位賴正義而立。 | 12They that act wickedly are abominable to the king: for the throne is established by justice. |
| 13正義的唇舌，為君王所喜悅；說話正直者，為君王所愛戴。 | 13Just lips are the delight of kings: he that speaketh right things shall be loved. |
| 14君王的震怒，是死訊的使者；但是智慧人，能平息王怒。 | 14The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: and the wise man will pacify it. |
| 15君王容光煥發，人即可活命；君王的恩澤，有如春雲時雨。 | 15In the cheerfulness of the king's countenance is life: and his clemency is like the latter rain. |
| 16獲得智慧，勝於獲得黃金；獲得智識，勝於獲得白銀。 | 16Get wisdom, because it is better than gold: and purchase prudence, for it is more precious than silver. |
| 17正直人的行徑遠離邪惡，謹守行為的人必確保生命。 | 17The path of the just departeth from evils: he that keepeth his soul keepeth his way. |
| 18驕橫是滅亡的先聲，傲慢是隕落的前導。 | 18Pride goeth before destruction: and the spirit is lifted up before a fall. |
| 19謙下與貧民共處，勝於與驕傲人分贓。 | 19It is better to be humbled with the meek, than to divide spoils with the proud. |
| 20細聽勸言的，必將受益；信賴上主的，真是有福。 | 20The learned in word shall find good things: and he that trusteth in the Lord is blessed. |
| 21有慧心的人，被稱為哲人；溫和的口吻，更具說服力。 | 21The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and he that is sweet in words shall attain to greater things. |
| 22為有智識的人，智識是生命的泉源；然而糊塗愚昧，卻是愚昧人的懲罰。 | 22Knowledge is a fountain of life to him that possesseth it: the instruction of fools is foolishness. |
| 23智慧人的心，使自己的嘴靈巧，使自己的唇舌，更具說服力。 | 23The heart of the wise shall instruct his mouth: and shall add grace to his lips. |
| 24親切的言語，有如蜂蜜，使心靈愉快，使筋骨舒暢。 | 24Well ordered words are as a honeycomb: sweet to the soul, and health to the bones. |
| 25有些道路，看來正直；走到盡頭，卻是死路。 | 25There is a way that seemeth to a man right: and the ends thereof lead to death. |
| 26工人的胃口，催他勞作；一人的口腹，迫他工作。 | 26The soul of him that laboureth, laboureth for himself, because his mouth hath obliged him to it. |
| 27無賴之徒，圖謀邪惡；他的嘴上，似有火燒。 | 27The wicked man diggeth evil, and in his lips is a burning fire. |
| 28乖戾的人，撒播爭端；告密的人，離間友情。 | 28A perverse man stirreth up quarrels: and one full of words separateth princes. |
| 29強橫的人，誘惑朋友；引他走入不正之途。 | 29An unjust man allureth his friend: and leadeth him into a way that is not good. |
| 30誰緊閉眼睛，是在策劃陰謀；誰緊咬口唇，邪惡業已完成。 | 30He that with fixed eyes deviseth wicked things, biting his lips, bringeth: evil to pass. |
| 31皓首白髮，是尊榮的冠冕；只在正義的道上，方可獲得。 | 31Old age is a crown of dignity, when it is found in the ways of justice. |
| 32有涵養的人，勝於勇士；克服自己的人，勝於克城的人。 | 32The patient man is better than the valiant: and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh cities. |
| 33人儘可在懷中抽籤，但決斷卻在乎上主。 | 33Lots are cast into the lap, but they are disposed of by the Lord. |
