| 1信譽比多財可取，敬仰比金銀可貴。 | 1A good name is better than great riches: and good favour is above silver and gold. |
| 2富人與窮人彼此相遇，二者皆為上主所造。 | 2The rich and poor have met one another: the Lord is the maker of them both. |
| 3精明人遇見災禍，即行隱避；無知者反向前走，自招損害。 | 3The prudent man saw the evil, and hid himself: the simple passed on, and suffered loss. |
| 4謙卑的賞報，是敬畏上主，是享有財富、尊榮和生命。 | 4The fruit of humility is the fear of the Lord, riches and glory and life. |
| 5邪惡者的路上，滿佈荊棘羅網；潔身自愛的人，必能遠而避之。 | 5Arms and swords are in the way of the perverse: but he that keepeth his own soul departeth far from them. |
| 6你教導孩童應行的道路，待他老年時也不會離棄。 | 6It is a proverb: A young man according to his way, even when he is old he will not depart from it. |
| 7富人宰割窮人，債主奴役債戶。 | 7The rich ruleth over the poor: and the borrower is servant to him that lendeth. |
| 8播種邪惡的，必收穫災禍；他辛苦工作，必全屬徒勞。 | 8He that soweth iniquity shall reap evils, and with the rod of his anger he shall be consumed. |
| 9目光慈祥的，必蒙受祝福，因他將食糧，施捨給窮人。 | 9He that is inclined to mercy shall be blessed: for of his bread he hath given to the poor. He that maketh presents shall purchase victory and honour: but he carrieth away the souls of the receivers. |
| 10趕走了狂人，就除了爭執；爭訟與侮辱，亦相繼止息。 | 10Cast out the scoffer, and contention shall go out with him, and quarrels and reproaches shall cease. |
| 11純潔的心靈，是上主所愛；優雅的唇舌，是君王所悅。 | 11He that loveth cleanness of heart, for the grace of his lips shall have the king for his friend. |
| 12上主的眼目，常衛護知識；敗類的言論，必加以毀滅。 | 12The eyes of the Lord preserve knowledge: and the words of the unjust are overthrown. |
| 13只有懶人說：「外面有獅子，在街市之中，我會被吞噬」。 | 13The slothful man saith: There is a lion without, I shall be slain in the midst of the streets. |
| 14淫婦們的口，實是個深坑；上主惱怒的，必墜入其中。 | 14The mouth of a strange woman is a deep pit: he whom the Lord is angry with, shall fall into it. |
| 15孩童心中藏愚昧，只有戒尺能驅逐。 | 15Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, and the rod of correction shall drive it away. |
| 16欺壓窮人，是使他致富；餽贈富者，是使他貧窮。 | 16He that oppresseth the poor, to increase his own riches, shall himself give to one that is richer, and shall be in need. |
| 17你應當傾聽智者的訓言，應專心致意領會我的知識。 | 17Incline thy ear, and hear the words of the wise: and apply thy heart to my doctrine: |
| 18你若細心存想，常在口中誦念，必會令你喜悅。 | 18Which shall be beautiful for thee, if thou keep it in thy bowels, and it shall flow in thy lips: |
| 19為使你的信賴全托於上主，我今日特將道路指示給你。 | 19That thy trust may be in the Lord, wherefore I have also shewn it to thee this day. |
| 20關於教誨和知識，我豈未多次寫過， | 20Behold I have described it to thee three manner of ways, in thoughts and knowledge: |
| 21使你認識真言實理，答覆前來問你的人？ | 21That I might shew thee the certainty, and the words of truth, to answer out of these to them that sent thee. |
| 22你不可因為人窮而剝削窮人，亦不可在城門口欺壓弱小者； | 22Do no violence to the poor, because he is poor: and do not oppress the needy in the gate: |
| 23因為他們的案件，上主必予以辯護；凡剝奪他們的人，上主必討其生命。 | 23Because the Lord will judge his cause, and will afflict them that have afflicted his soul. |
| 24易怒的人，不可與他交結，暴躁的人，不要與他往來， | 24Be not a friend to an angry man, and do not walk with a furious man: |
| 25免得你沾染他的惡習，甘冒喪失性命的危險。 | 25Lest perhaps thou learn his ways, and take scandal to thy soul. |
| 26不要為別人擊掌，不要為債務作保； | 26Be not with them that fasten down their hands, and that offer themselves sureties for debts: |
| 27免得你沒有什麼償還時，連你的床榻也被人奪走。 | 27For if thou have not wherewith to restore, what cause is there, that he should take the covering from thy bed? |
| 28祖先立定的舊界，你不要加以移動。 | 28Pass not beyond the ancient bounds which thy fathers have set. |
| 29你曾見過辦事能幹的人嗎？他必侍立在君王面前，決不侍立在傭人面前。 | 29Hast thou seen a man swift in his work? he shall stand before kings, and shall not be before those that are obscure. |
