箴言	Proverbs
¹瑪薩人雅刻之子阿古爾的格言，即他給依提耳、給依提耳和烏加耳的斷語：	¹The words of Gatherer the son of Vomiter. The vision which the man spoke with whom God is, and who being strengthened by God, abiding with him, said:
²我比誰都愚蠢，沒有人的才智。	²I am the most foolish of men, and the wisdom of men is not with me.
³我從來沒有學得智慧，致能通曉聖者的知識。	³I have not learned wisdom, and have not known the science of saints.
⁴誰曾上升過天而又降下？誰能將風收集在手中？誰能將水聚集在大衣內？誰為這大地立定了邊界？他叫什麼名字？其子姓甚名誰？你知道嗎？	⁴Who hath ascended up into heaven, and descended? who hath held the wind in his hands? who hath bound up the waters together as in a garment? who hath raised up all the borders of the earth? what is his name, and what is the name of his son, if thou knowest?
⁵天主的每一句話，都是經火精煉的；凡托庇於他的人，他必要作其護盾。	⁵Every word of God is fire tried: he is a buckler to them that hope in him.
⁶對他所說的話，不可加添什麼；免得他指責你，證明你在說謊。	⁶Add not any thing to his words, lest thou be reproved, and found a liar:
⁷我求你兩件事，在我未死以前，請不要拒絕我：	⁷Two things I have asked of thee, deny them not to me before I die.
⁸令虛偽和欺詐遠離我，貧乏或富裕勿賜與我，只供予我必需的食糧，	⁸Remove far from me vanity, and lying words. Give me neither beggary, nor riches: give me only the necessaries of life:
⁹免得我吃飽了，背叛你說：「誰是上主？」或是過於貧乏，因而行竊，加辱我天主的名。	⁹Lest perhaps being filled, I should be tempted to deny, and say: Who is the Lord? or being compelled by poverty, I should steal, and forswear the name of my God.
¹⁰別在主人前，誹謗他的奴僕，怕他咒罵你，你就不免受罰。	¹⁰Accuse not a servant to his master, lest he curse thee, and thou fall.
¹¹有一種人，咒罵父親；自己母親，也不祝福。	¹¹There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother.
¹²有一種人，自視清高；自身污穢，卻不洗滌。	¹²A generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet are not washed from their filthiness.
¹³有一種人，眼睛傲慢，目空一切。	¹³A generation, whose eyes are lofty, and their eyelids lifted up on high.
¹⁴有一種人，牙如利劍，齒如快刀，地上弱小，人間貧民，吞食一空。	¹⁴A generation, that for teeth hath swords, and grindeth with their jaw teeth, to devour the needy from off the earth, and the poor from among men.
¹⁵水蛭有兩個女兒，常說「給我！給我！」不知足的東西，共有三樣，總不說「夠了」的，共有四樣：	¹⁵The horseleech hath two daughters that say: Bring, bring. There are three things that never are satisfied, and the fourth never saith: It is enough.
¹⁶即陰府、荒胎、總飲不足水的地，和總不說「夠了」的火。	¹⁶Hell, and the mouth of the womb, and the earth which is not satisfied with water: and the fire never saith: It is enough.
¹⁷誰嘲笑父親，或輕視年老的母親，願他的眼睛，被谷中的烏鴉啄去，為小鷹所食。	¹⁷The eye that mocketh at his father, and that despiseth the labour of his mother in bearing him, let the ravens of the brooks pick it out, and the young eagles eat it.
¹⁸令我稱奇的事，共有三樣，連我不明瞭的，共有四樣：	¹⁸Three things are hard to me, and the fourth I am utterly ignorant of.
¹⁹即鷹在天空飛翔的道，蛇在岩石爬行的道，船在海中航行的道，以及男女交合之道。	¹⁹The way of an eagle in the air, the way of a serpent upon a rock, the way of a ship in the midst of the sea, and the way of a man in youth.
²⁰淫婦的作風是這樣：她吃了後，抹抹口說：「我並沒有為非作歹。」	²⁰Such is also the way of an adulterous woman, who eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith: I have done no evil.
²¹使地戰慄的事，共有三樣，連不可容忍的，共有四樣：	²¹By three things the earth is disturbed, and the fourth it cannot bear:
²²即奴隸為王，愚人飽食，	²²By a slave when he reigneth: by a fool when he is filled with meat:
²³醜女出嫁，婢女當家。	²³By an odious woman when she is married: and by a bondwoman when she is heir to her mistress.
²⁴地上的小動物中，有四種極其聰明：	²⁴There are four very little things of the earth, and they are wiser than the wise:
²⁵螞蟻是無力的一群，卻在夏日儲備食糧；	²⁵The ants, a feeble people, which provide themselves food in the harvest:
²⁶岩貍是無能的一群，卻在岩石中築巢穴；	²⁶The rabbit, a weak people, which maketh its bed in the rock:
²⁷蝗蟲雖然沒有君王，卻知一齊列隊出發；	²⁷The locust hath no king, yet they all go out by their bands.
²⁸壁虎能用手來捕捉，卻經常出入於皇宮。	²⁸The stellio supporteth itself on hands, and dwelleth in kings' houses.
²⁹舉止昂然之物，共有三樣，連威儀赫赫的，共有四樣：	²⁹There are three things, which go well, and the fourth that walketh happily:
³⁰即獸中稱雄的獅子，面臨一切從不退縮；	³⁰A lion, the strongest of beasts, who hath no fear of any thing he meeteth:
³¹獨步雞群中的雄雞，開頭領隊的公山羊，和檢閱人民的君王。	³¹A cock girded about the loins: and a ram: and a king, whom none can resist.
³²你一時糊塗，高舉了自己，當你反省時，應以手掩口；	³²There is that hath appeared a fool after he was lifted up on high: for if he had understood, he would have laid his hand upon his mouth.
³³因為攪動乳汁，可出奶油；用力扭鼻，可流鮮血；激起憤怒，必生爭端。	³³And he that strongly squeezeth the papa to bring out milk, straineth out butter: and he that violently bloweth his nose, bringeth out blood: and he that provoketh wrath bringeth forth strife.
