| 1孩子們，要聽父親的教訓，專心學習明智， | 1Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend that you may know prudence. |
| 2因為我把好教訓授給你們，你們不要拋棄我的規勸。 | 2I will give you a good gift, forsake not my law. |
| 3我也曾在父親面前作過孝子，在我母親膝下是唯一的嬌兒。 | 3For I also was my father's son, tender and as an only son in the sight of my mother: |
| 4我父曾訓誨我說：你應留心牢記我的話，遵守我的命令，好使你生存； | 4And he taught me, and said: Let thy heart receive my words, keep my commandments, and thou shalt live. |
| 5你應緊握智慧，握住明智，不要忘記，也不要離棄我口中的教訓： | 5Get wisdom, get prudence: forget not, neither decline from the words of my mouth. |
| 6你若不捨棄她，她必護佑你；你若喜愛她，她必看顧你？ | 6Forsake her not, and she shall keep thee: love her, and she shall preserve thee. |
| 7首先應爭取的是智慧，因此你應尋求智慧，應犧牲一切去爭取明智。 | 7The beginning of wisdom, get wisdom, and with all thy possession purchase prudence. |
| 8你若顯揚智慧，智慧也必顯揚你；你若懷抱她，她也必光榮你： | 8Take hold on her, and she shall exalt thee: thou shalt be glorified by her, when thou shalt embrace her. |
| 9將華冠加在你的頭上，將榮冕賜給你。 | 9She shall give to thy head increase of graces, and protect thee with a noble crown. |
| 10我兒，你若聽取我的訓言，你必延年益壽。 | 10Hear, O my son, and receive my words, that years of life may be multiplied to thee. |
| 11我要教給你智慧的道路，引你走上正直的途徑： | 11I will shew thee the way of wisdom, I will lead thee by the paths of equity: |
| 12這樣，你若行走，你的腳決不會受阻礙；即使你奔馳，也決不致顛仆。 | 12Which when thou shalt have entered, thy steps shall not be straitened, and when thou runnest thou shalt not meet a stumblingblock. |
| 13你要堅持教訓，切勿把她拋棄；你應保存她，因為她是你的生命。 | 13Take hold on instruction, leave it not: keep it, because it is thy life. |
| 14惡人的道路，你不要進去；壞人的途徑，你不要踏入； | 14Be not delighted in the paths of the wicked, neither let the way of evil men please thee. |
| 15反應躲避，不經其上；遠遠離去，繞道他往。 | 15Flee from it, pass not by it: go aside, and forsake it. |
| 16因為他們不作惡，不能入睡；不使人跌倒，就要失眠。 | 16For they sleep not except they have done evil: and their sleep is taken away unless they have made some to fall. |
| 17他們吃的是邪惡的餅，飲的是暴虐的酒。 | 17They eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of iniquity. |
| 18但是，義人的途徑，像黎明的曙光，越來越明亮，直至成日中； | 18But the path of the just, as a shining light, goeth forwards and increaseth even to perfect day. |
| 19惡人的道路，卻宛如幽暗，他們不知道，要跌在何處。 | 19The way of the wicked is darksome: they know not where they fall. |
| 20我兒，你要注意我的訓言，側耳傾聽我的教導； | 20My son, hearken to my words, and incline thy ear to my sayings. |
| 21不要讓她離開你的視線，卻要牢記在心中？ | 21Let them not depart from thy eyes, keep them in the midst of thy heart: |
| 22因為，凡找着她的，必獲得生命；他整個身軀，必獲得健康。 | 22For they are life to those that find them, and health to all flesh. |
| 23在一切之上，你要謹守你的心，因為命是由此而生。 | 23With all watchfulness keep thy heart, because life issueth out from it. |
| 24你應摒絕口舌的欺詐，遠避唇舌的乖謬。 | 24Remove from thee a froward mouth, and let detracting lips be far from thee. |
| 25你的眼睛應向前直視，你的視線應向前集中。 | 25Let thy eyes look straight on, and let thy eyelids go before thy steps. |
| 26你要修平你腳下的行徑，要鞏固你一切的路途。 | 26Make straight the path for thy feet, and all thy ways shall be established. |
| 27你斷不可左傾右依，務使你的腳遠離邪惡。 | 27Decline not to the right hand, nor to the left: turn away thy foot from evil. For the Lord knoweth the ways that are on the right hand: but those are perverse which are on the left hand. But he will make thy courses straight, he will bring forward thy ways in peace. |
