| 1我兒，你前去服事上主時，應固守正義與敬畏，並應預備你的心承受試探。 | 1Son, when thou comest to the service of God, stand in justice and in fear, and prepare thy soul for temptation. |
| 2使你的心居正不偏，堅忍不拔；應側耳聽取明智的言語；在災難中，不要慌張。 | 2Humble thy heart, and endure: incline thy ear, and receive the words of understanding: and make not haste in the time of clouds. |
| 3應靜心等待天主的照顧，與天主保持聯繫，總不要離棄他，好使你至死充滿幸福。 | 3Wait on God with patience: join thyself to God, and endure, that thy life may be increased in the latter end. |
| 4凡降到你身上的，你都要接受；在痛苦中，你要忍受；在各種困苦中，你要多多忍耐； | 4Take all that shall be brought upon thee: and in thy sorrow endure, and in thy humiliation keep patience. |
| 5因為金銀應在火裏鍛煉，天主所喜悅的人，也應在謙卑的火爐中鍛煉。 | 5For gold and silver are tried in the fire, but acceptable men in the furnace of humiliation. |
| 6你只管信賴天主，他必扶持你；你應修直你的道路，要仰望他，要保持敬畏他的心，至死不替。 | 6Believe God, and he will recover thee: and direct thy way, and trust in him. Keep his fear, and grow old therein. |
| 7你們敬畏上主的，要等待他的仁慈；不要離開他，免得跌倒。 | 7Ye that fear the Lord, wait for his mercy: and go not aside from him, lest ye fall. |
| 8你們敬畏上主的，要信賴他，你們的賞報，就不會落空。 | 8Ye that fear the Lord, believe him: and your reward shall not be made void. |
| 9你們敬畏上主的，要希望幸福，及永遠的喜樂和救恩。 | 9Ye that fear the Lord, hope in him: and mercy shall come to you for your delight. |
| 10你們敬畏上主的，要愛慕他，你們的心靈，就會蒙光照。 | 10Ye that fear the Lord, love him, and your hearts shall be enlightened. |
| 11請你們追念前代，看看有誰依賴了上主，而受了恥辱？ | 11My children behold the generations of men: and know ye that no one hath hoped in the Lord, and hath been confounded. |
| 12有誰保持了對他的敬畏，而被遺棄？有誰呼求了他，而被他輕視？ | 12For who hath continued in his commandment, and hath been forsaken? or who hath called upon him, and he despised him? |
| 13因為，上主富於慈惠寬仁；在患難中，赦免罪過，並施救恩。他是一切真心尋求他的護衛者。 | 13For God is compassionate and merciful, and will forgive sins in the day of tribulation: and he is a protector to all that seek him in truth. |
| 14禍哉，怯懦的心，邪惡的口，虛弱的手，及徘徊於兩條路的罪人！ | 14Woe to them that are of a double heart and to wicked lips, and to the hands that do evil, and to the sinner that goeth on the earth two ways. |
| 15禍哉，心無志氣的人！他既對天主沒有信賴，決得不到他的保護。 | 15Woe to them that are fainthearted, who believe not God: and therefore they shall not be protected by him. |
| 16禍哉，你們失去堅忍，離棄正道，喜歡走邪路的人！ | 16Woe to them that have lost patience, and that have forsaken the right ways, and have gone aside into crooked ways. |
| 17因為，當上主視察你們時，你們將作什麼？ | 17And what will they do, when the Lord shall begin to examine? |
| 18凡敬畏上主的，決不背棄他的言語；愛慕他的，必遵循他的道路。 | 18They that fear the Lord, will not be incredulous to his word: and they that love him, will keep his way. |
| 19凡敬畏上主的，必尋求他的歡心；愛慕他的，必飽嘗他法律的奧義。 | 19They that fear the Lord, will seek after the things that are well pleasing to him: and they that love him, shall be filled with his law. |
| 20凡敬畏上主的，必常預備自己的心，在他面前謙卑自下。 | 20They that fear the Lord, will prepare their hearts, and in his sight will sanctify their souls. |
| 21凡敬畏上主的，必遵守他的誡命，直到他來看顧，常懷着忍耐。 | 21They that fear the Lord, keep his Commandments, and will have patience even until his visitation, |
| 22他們說：假使我們不悔改，我們就必落在上主的手裏，而不是落在人的手裏； | 22Saying: If we do not penance, we shall fall into the hands of the Lord, and not into the hands of men. |
| 23因為他是多麼偉大，他的仁慈又多麼偉大。 | 23For according to his greatness, so also is his mercy with him. |
