德訓篇	Sirach
¹萬有的主宰天主！求你憐憫我們，轉面回顧，賜我們得見你仁慈的光輝。	¹Have mercy upon us, O God of all, and behold us, and shew us the light of thy mercies:
²求你賜那不尋找你的萬民都敬畏你，讓他們知道，除你以外別無天主，為叫他們傳揚你偉大的作為。	²And send thy fear upon the nations, that have not sought after thee: that they may know that there is no God beside thee, and that they may shew forth thy wonders.
³求你舉起你的手來，攻擊外邦的人民，使他們見到你的威能。	³Lift up thy hand over the strange nations, that they may see thy power.
⁴你在他們面前，對我們怎樣顯示了你是聖者，願你在我們面前，也對他們怎樣顯示偉大，	⁴For as thou hast been sanctified in us in their sight, so thou shalt be magnified among them in our presence,
⁵好叫他們認識你，如同我們認識了你一樣；除你以外，沒有天主，上主啊！	⁵That they may know thee, as we also have known thee, that there is no God beside thee, O Lord.
⁶求你重顯神蹟，重行奇事，	⁶Renew thy signs, and work new miracles.
⁷顯耀你的力量和你的大能。	⁷Glorify thy hand, and thy right arm.
⁸求你大發雷霆，發洩義怒，	⁸Raise up indignation, and pour out wrath.
⁹剷除敵對，消滅仇人。	⁹Take away the adversary, and crush the enemy.
¹⁰求你使拯救的時日急速來臨，記念你的誓約，好叫萬邦稱揚你的偉業。	¹⁰Hasten the time, and remember the end, that they may declare thy wonderful works.
¹¹願那生還的人，也被怒火燒盡；願那欺壓你民族的人，都遭毀滅。	¹¹Let him that escapeth be consumed by the rage of the fire: and let them perish that oppress thy people.
¹²求你打碎仇人首領的頭顱，因為他們說：我們以外，沒有別人。	¹²Crush the head of the princes of the enemies that say: There is no other beside us.
¹³求你聚集雅各伯的眾支派，使他們明白，除你以外，沒有天主；使他們傳揚你偉大的作為；以他們作產業，如同起初一樣。	¹³Gather together all the tribes of Jacob: that they may know that there is no God besides thee, and may declare thy great works: and thou shalt inherit them as from the beginning.
¹⁴上主啊！求你憐憫那因你得名的民族，就是你視為長子的以色列民族。	¹⁴Have mercy on thy people, upon whom thy name is invoked: and upon Israel, whom thou hast raised up to be thy firstborn.
¹⁵求你憐憫你的聖城耶路撒冷，你安居的住所。	¹⁵Have mercy on Jerusalem, the city which thou hast sanctified, the city of thy rest.
¹⁶求你使熙雍布滿你的威嚴，使聖殿彌漫你的光榮。	¹⁶Fill Sion with thy unspeakable words, and thy people with thy glory.
¹⁷求你為你首要的功業作證，履行古先知們因你的名所說的預言。	¹⁷Give testimony to them that are thy creatures from the beginning, and raise up the prophecies which the former prophets spoke in thy name.
¹⁸求你賞報期待你的人民，好使你的先知們被人認為忠實。上主啊！求你俯聽你僕人們的祈禱，	¹⁸Reward them that patiently wait for thee, that thy prophets may be found faithful: and hear the prayers of thy servants,
¹⁹依照亞郎給與你百姓的祝福，指導我們走上正義的道路，使世上所有的人，都知道你是天主，萬世萬代的天主。	¹⁹According to the blessing of Aaron over thy people, and direct us into the way of justice, and let all know that dwell upon the earth, that thou art God the beholder of all ages.
²⁰胃能容納任何食物，但有的食物卻比其他食物更好。	²⁰The belly will devour all meat, yet one is better than another.
²¹味覺能分辨野味；同樣，明達人的心能辨別虛詐的言語。	²¹The palate tasteth venison and the wise heart false speeches.
²²歪曲的心使人悲傷，但有經驗的人，卻能防備他。	²²A perverse heart will cause grief, and a man of experience will resist it.
²³一個女子可嫁給任何男子，但有的女子卻比其他女子更好。	²³A woman will receive every man: yet one daughter is better than another.
²⁴婦女的美麗，能使她的丈夫容貌煥發，這也是男人的最大願望。	²⁴The beauty of a woman cheereth the countenance of her husband, and a man desireth nothing more.
²⁵若婦女善於措辭規勸，說話仁慈溫柔，她的丈夫就決不尋常。	²⁵If she have a tongue that can cure, and likewise mitigate and shew mercy: her husband is not like other men.
²⁶獲得賢能妻子的，就是獲得了最好的產業；即一個與自己相稱的助手，和扶持自己的柱石。	²⁶He that possesseth a good wife, beginneth a possession: she is a help like to himself, and a pillar of rest.
²⁷那裏沒有垣墻，財產必被搶掠；那裏沒有妻子，人就要漂泊嗟嘆。	²⁷Where there is no hedge, the possession shall be spoiled: and where there is no wife, he mourneth that is in want.
²⁸誰能相信一個武裝起來，從一城竄入另一城的強盜呢？同樣，誰也不相信一個沒有家室，一到晚上便到處尋找居所的人。	²⁸Who will trust him that hath no rest, and that lodgeth wheresoever the night taketh him, as a robber well appointed, that skippeth from city to city.
