| 1提洛王希蘭派使臣來見達味，給他送來香柏木，派來石匠和木工，為他建宮室。 | 1Hiram, king of Tyre, sent messengers to David with cedar wood and stonemasons and carpenters to build him a palace. |
| 2那時達味知道上主已確定他為以色列王，並為了自己的百姓以色列，提高了他的王位。 | 2David then knew that Yahweh had established him as king over Israel, and that for the sake of his people Israel his kingdom was being made prosperous. |
| 3達味在耶路撒冷又娶了妻室，生了許多子女。 | 3At Jerusalem David took more wives and fathered more sons and daughters. |
| 4達味在耶路撒冷所生兒子的名字如下：沙慕亞、芍巴布、納堂、撒羅滿、 | 4These are the names of the children born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon, |
| 5依貝哈爾、厄里叔亞、厄里培肋特、 | 5Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet, |
| 6諾加、乃費格、雅非亞、 | 6Nogab, Nepheg, Japhia, |
| 7厄里沙瑪、貝里雅達和厄里培肋特。 | 7Elishama, Beeliada, Eliphelet. |
| 8培肋舍特人聽說達味受傅，為全以色列王，遂都上來向達味尋釁。達味聽說，便出來迎擊。 | 8When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king of all Israel, they all marched up to capture him. On hearing this, David went out to meet them. |
| 9培肋舍特人上來侵入了勒法因平原。 | 9When the Philistines arrived, they began plundering the Valley of the Rephaim. |
| 10那時達味求問天主說：「我可以上去攻打培肋舍特人嗎？你將他們交在我手中嗎？」上主答應他說：「你上去，我必將他們交在你手中。」 | 10David consulted Yahweh, "Shall I attack the Philistines? Will you turn them over to me?" Yahweh answered him, "Attack! I will turn them over to you." |
| 11達味於是上到巴耳培辣親，在那裏擊敗了他們。達味因此說：「天主假我的手使我的敵人崩潰，如水破堤。」因此後人稱這地方為巴耳培辣親。 | 11The Philistines went up to Baal-perazim and there David defeated them. David said, "God has broken through them just as water breaks through a dam." For this reason that place was called Baal Perazim. |
| 12培肋舍特人把自己的神像都遺棄在那裏，達味命人用火燒毀。 | 12They had left their gods behind them there, and David ordered them to be burned. |
| 13培肋舍特人又侵入平原。 | 13Again the Philistines started plundering in the valley. |
| 14達味又求問天主，天主對他說：「不要一直上去追擊他們，要繞到他們後方，從桑林那邊抄他們的後路。 | 14David again consulted God, and God answered, "Do not attack them from the front; go around and get ready to attack them from the other side, near the balsam trees. |
| 15你一聽見桑樹梢上有腳步聲，要即刻出戰，因為天主在你前面出擊培肋舍特人的軍隊。」 | 15When you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, launch your attack, for God is going out ahead of you to defeat the army of the Philistines." |
| 16達味就照天主所命的行了，擊殺培肋舍特人的軍隊，由基貝紅直到革則爾。 | 16David did as God had ordered, and they defeated the Philistine army from Gibeon as far as Gezer. |
| 17因此達味的聲名傳遍了各地，上主使各民族都害怕他。 | 17David became famous everywhere, and Yahweh made every nation afraid of him. |
