| 1因天主的旨意，蒙召為耶穌基督宗徒的保祿和索斯特乃弟兄， | 1From Paul, called to be an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and from Sosthenes, our brother, |
| 2致書給格林多的天主教會，就是給那些在基督耶穌內受祝聖，與一切在各地呼求我們的主，亦即他們和我們的主耶穌基督之名，一同蒙召為聖的人。 | 2to God's Church which is in Corinth; to you whom God has sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be holy, together with those who everywhere call upon the name of our Lord Christ Jesus, their Lord and ours. |
| 3願恩寵與平安，由我們的父天主和主耶穌基督賜給你們。 | 3Receive grace and peace from God our Father, and Christ Jesus our Lord. |
| 4我時時為你們，對天主在基督耶穌內所賜與你們的恩寵，而感謝我的天主， | 4I give thanks constantly to my God for you and for the grace of God given to you in Christ Jesus. |
| 5因為藉着他，你們在一切事上，在一切言論和知識上，都成了富有的； | 5For you have been fully enriched in him with words as well as with knowledge, |
| 6並且我為基督所作的證言，在你們中是這樣的堅定， | 6even as the testimony concerning Christ was confirmed in you. |
| 7以致你們已不缺少任何恩寵，只待我們的主耶穌基督的出現； | 7You do not lack any spiritual gift and only await the glorious coming of Christ Jesus, our Lord. |
| 8天主必要堅固你們到底，使你們在我們的主耶穌基督的日子上，無瑕可指。 | 8He will keep you steadfast to the end, and you will be without reproach on the day of the coming of our Lord Jesus. |
| 9天主是忠信的，因為你們原是由他所召，為同他的聖子，我們的主耶穌基督，合而為一。 | 9The faithful God will not fail you after calling you to this fellowship with his Son, Christ Jesus, our Lord. |
| 10弟兄們，我因我們的主耶穌基督之名，求你們眾人言談一致，在你們中不要有分裂，但要同心合意，全然相合。 | 10I beg of you, brothers, in the name of Christ Jesus, our Lord, to agree among yourselves and do away with divisions; please be perfectly united, with one mind and one judgment. |
| 11因為，我的弟兄們，我由黑羅厄的家人聽說你們中發生了紛爭。 | 11For I heard from people of Cloe's house about your rivalries. |
| 12我的意思是說，你們各自聲稱：我是屬保祿的，我是屬阿頗羅的，我是屬刻法的，我是屬基督的。 | 12What I mean is this: some say, "I am for Paul," and others: "I am for Apollo," or "I am for Peter," or "I am for Christ." |
| 13基督被分裂了嗎？難道保祿為你們被釘死在十字架上嗎？或者你們受洗是歸於保祿名下嗎？ | 13Is Christ divided or have I, Paul, been crucified for you? Have you been baptized in the name of Paul? |
| 14我感謝天主，除了克黎斯頗和加約外，我沒有給你們中的任何人付過洗， | 14I thank God that I did not baptize any of you, except Crispus and Gaius, |
| 15免得有人說：你們受洗是歸於我的名下。 | 15so that no one can say that he was baptized in my name. |
| 16我還給斯特法納一家付過洗；此外我就不記得還給誰付過洗了。 | 16Well, I have also baptized the Stephanas family. Apart from these, I do not recall having baptized anyone else. |
| 17原來基督派遺我，不是為施洗，而是為宣傳福音，且不用巧妙的言辭，免得基督的十字架失去效力。 | 17For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to proclaim his Gospel. And not with beautiful words! That would be like getting rid of the cross of Christ. |
| 18原來十字架的道理，為喪亡的人是愚妄，為我們得救的人，卻是天主的德能， | 18The language of the cross remains nonsense for those who are lost. Yet for us who are saved, it is the power of God, |
| 19因為經上記載：「我要摧毀智者的智慧，廢除賢者的聰明。」 | 19as Scripture says: I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and make fail the foresight of the foresighted. |
| 20智者在那裏？經師在那裏？這世代的詭辯者又在那裏？天主豈不是使這世上的智慧變成了愚妄嗎？ | 20Masters of human wisdom, educated people, philosophers, you have no reply! And the wisdom of this world? God let it fail. |
| 21因為世人沒有憑自己的智慧，認識天主，天主遂以自己的智慧，決意以愚妄的道理來拯救那些相信的人。 | 21At first God spoke the language of wisdom, and the world did not know God through wisdom. Then God thought of saving the believers through the foolishness that we preach. |
| 22的確，猶太人要求的是神蹟，希臘人尋求的是智慧， | 22The Jews ask for miracles and the Greeks for a higher knowledge, |
| 23而我們所宣講的，卻是被釘在十字架上的基督：這為猶太人固然是絆腳石，為外邦人是愚妄， | 23while we proclaim a crucified Messiah. For the Jews, what a great scandal! And for the Greeks, what nonsense! |
| 24但為那些蒙召的，不拘是猶太人或希臘人，基督卻是天主的德能和天主的智慧： | 24But he is Christ, the power of God and the wisdom of God for those called by God among both Jews and Greeks. |
| 25因為天主的愚妄總比人明智，天主的懦弱也總比人堅強。 | 25In reality, the "foolishness" of God is wiser than humans, and the "weakness" of God is stronger than humans. |
| 26弟兄們！你們看看你們是怎樣蒙召的：按肉眼來看，你們中有智慧的人並不多，有權勢的人也不多，顯貴的人也不多； | 26Brothers and sisters, look and see whom God has called. Few among you can be said to be cultured or wealthy, and few belong to noble families. |
| 27天主偏召選了世上愚妄的，為羞辱那有智慧的；召選了世上懦弱的，為羞辱那堅強的； | 27Yet God has chosen what the world considers foolish, to shame the wise; he has chosen what the world considers weak to shame the strong. |
| 28甚而天主召選了世上卑賤的和受人輕視的，以及那些一無所有的，為消滅那些有的， | 28God has chosen common and unimportant people, making use of what is nothing to nullify the things that are, |
| 29為使一切有血肉的人，在天主前無所誇耀。 | 29so that no mortal may boast before God. |
| 30你們得以結合於基督耶穌內，全是由於天主，也是由於天主，基督成了我們的智慧、正義、聖化者和救贖者， | 30But, by God's grace you are in Christ Jesus, who has become our wisdom from God, and who makes us just and holy and free. |
| 31正如經上所記載的：「凡要誇耀的，應因主而誇耀。」 | 31Scripture says: Let the one who boasts boast of the Lord. |
