| 1此外，弟兄們，我們在主耶穌內還請求和勸勉你們：你們既由我們學會了應怎樣行事，為中悅天主，你們就該怎樣行事，還要更向前邁進。 | 1For the rest, brothers, we ask you in the name of Jesus, the Lord, and we urge you to live in a way that pleases God, just as you have learned from us. This you do, but try to do still more. |
| 2你們原來知道：我們因主耶穌給了你們什麼誡命。 | 2You know the instructions we gave you on behalf of the Lord Jesus: |
| 3天主的旨意就是要你們成聖，要你們戒絕邪淫， | 3the will of God for you is to become holy and not to have unlawful sex. |
| 4要你們每一個人明瞭，應以聖潔和敬意持守自己的肉體， | 4Let each of you behave towards his wife as a holy and respectful husband, |
| 5不要放縱邪淫之情，像那些不認識天主的外邦人一樣； | 5rather than being led by lust, as are pagans who do not know God. |
| 6在這樣的事上，不要侵犯損害自己的弟兄，因為主對這一切是要報復的，就如我們先前已說過，已證明過的， | 6In this matter, let no one offend or wrong a brother. The Lord will do justice in all these things, as we have warned and shown you. |
| 7因為天主召叫我們不是為不潔，而是為成聖。 | 7God has called us to live, not in impurity but in holiness, |
| 8所以凡輕視這誡命的，不是輕視人，而是輕視那將自己的聖神賦於你們身上的天主。 | 8and those who do not heed this instruction disobey, not a human, but God himself who gives you his Holy Spirit. |
| 9關於弟兄的友愛，不需要給你們寫什麼，因為你們自己由天主受了彼此相愛的教訓。 | 9Regarding mutual love, you do not need anyone to write to you, because God himself taught you how to love one another. |
| 10你們對全馬其頓的眾弟兄原已實行了這事；不過，弟兄們，我們勸你們更向前邁進。 | 10You already practice it with all the brothers and sisters of Macedonia, but I invite you to do more. |
| 11你們要以過安定的生活，專務己業，親手勞作為光榮，就如我們所吩咐過你們的， | 11Consider how important it is to live quietly without bothering others, to mind your own business, and work with your hands, as we have charged you. |
| 12好叫你們在外人前來往時有光釆，不仰仗任何人。 | 12In obeying these rules you will win the respect of outsiders and be dependent on no one. |
| 13弟兄們，關於亡者，我們不願意你們不知道，以免你們憂傷，像其他沒有望德的人一樣。 | 13Brothers and sisters, we want you not to be mistaken about those who are already asleep, lest you grieve as do those who have no hope. |
| 14因為我們若是信耶穌死了，也復活了，同樣也必信天主要領那些死於耶穌內的人同他一起來。 | 14We believe that Jesus died and rose; it will be the same for those who have died in Jesus. God will bring them together with Jesus and for his sake. |
| 15我們照主的話告訴你們這件事：我們這些活着存留到主來臨時的人，決不會在已死的人以前。 | 15By the same word of the Lord we assert this: those of us who are to be alive at the Lord's coming will not go ahead of those who are already asleep. |
| 16因為在發命時，在總領天使吶喊和天主的號聲響時，主要親自由天降來，那些死於基督內的人先要復活， | 16When the command by the archangel's voice is given, the Lord himself will come down from heaven, while the divine trumpet call is sounding. Then those who have died in the Lord will rise first; |
| 17然後我們這些活着還存留的人，同時與他們一起要被提到雲彩上，到空中迎接主：這樣，我們就時常同主在一起。 | 17as for us who are still alive, we will be brought along with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the celestial world. And we will be with the Lord forever. |
| 18為此，你們要常用這些話彼此安慰。 | 18So, then comfort one another with these words. |
