| 1弟兄們，至論那時候與日期，不需要給你們寫什麼。 | 1You do not need anyone to write to you about the delay and the appointed time for these events. |
| 2你們原確實知道：主的日子要像夜間的盜賊一樣來到。 | 2You know that the Day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. |
| 3幾時人正說：「平安無事」，那時滅亡會猝然來到他們身上，就像痛苦來到懷孕者身上一樣，決逃脫不了。 | 3When people feel secure and at peace, the disaster will suddenly come upon them as the birth pangs of a woman in labor, and they will not escape. |
| 4但是你們，弟兄們，你們不是在黑暗中，以致那日子像盜賊一樣襲擊你們； | 4But you, beloved, are not in darkness; so that day will not surprise you like a thief. |
| 5你們眾人都是光明之子和白日之子；我們不屬於黑夜，也不屬於黑暗。 | 5All of you are citizens of the light and the day; we do not belong to night and darkness. |
| 6所以我們不當像其他的人一樣貪睡，卻當醒寤清醒， | 6Let us not, therefore, sleep as others do, but remain alert and sober. |
| 7因為人睡覺是黑夜睡覺，喝醉的人是黑夜喝醉； | 7Those who sleep, go to sleep at night, and those who drink, get drunk at night. |
| 8但是我們做白日之子的，應當清醒，穿上信德和愛德作甲，戴上得救的望德作盔， | 8Since we belong to the day, let us be sober, let us put on the breastplate of faith and love, and let the hope of salvation be our helmet. |
| 9因為天主沒有揀定我們為洩怒，而是藉我們的主耶穌基督為獲得拯救， | 9For God has not willed us to be condemned but to win salvation through Christ Jesus our Lord. |
| 10他為我們死了，為叫我們不論醒寤或睡眠，都同他一起生活。 | 10He died for us so that we might enter into life with him, whether we are still awake or already asleep. |
| 11為此，你們應互相安慰，彼此建樹，就如你們所行的。 | 11Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, as you are doing now. |
| 12弟兄們，我們還求你們尊敬那些在你們中勞苦，在主內管理你們和勸戒你們的人， | 12Brothers and sisters, I want you to be thankful to those who labor among you, who lead you in the way of the Lord and also reprimand you. |
| 13為了他們的工作，你們更應本着愛，重視他們；你們要彼此平安相處。 | 13Esteem them highly and love them for what they are doing. Live at peace among yourselves. |
| 14弟兄們，我們還勸勉你們：要勸戒閑蕩的，寬慰怯懦的，扶持軟弱的，容忍一切人！ | 14We urge you to warn the idle, encourage those who feel discouraged, sustain the weak, have patience with everyone. |
| 15要小心：人對人不要以惡報惡，卻要時常彼此勉勵，互相善待，且善待一切人。 | 15See that no one repays evil for evil, but try to do good, whether among yourselves or towards others. |
| 16應常歡樂， | 16Rejoice always, |
| 17不斷祈禱， | 17pray without ceasing |
| 18事事感謝：這就是天主在基督耶穌內對你們所有的旨意。 | 18and give thanks to God at every moment. This is the will of God, your vocation as Christians. |
| 19不要消滅神恩， | 19Do not quench the Spirit, |
| 20不要輕視先知之恩； | 20do not despise the prophets' warnings. |
| 21但應當考驗一切，好的，應保持； | 21Put everything to the test and hold fast to what is good. |
| 22各種壞的，要遠避。 | 22Avoid evil, wherever it may be. |
| 23願賜平安的天主親自完全聖化你們，將你們整個的神魂、靈魂和肉身，在我們的主耶穌基督來臨時，保持的無瑕可指： | 23May the God of Peace make you holy and bring you to perfection. May you be completely blameless, in spirit, soul and body, till the coming of Christ Jesus, our Lord; |
| 24那召你們的是忠信的，他必實行。 | 24he who called you is faithful and will do it. |
| 25弟兄們，你們也要為我們祈禱。 | 25Brothers and sisters, pray for us. |
| 26你們要以聖吻問候所有的弟兄。 | 26Greet all the brothers and sisters with a holy kiss. |
| 27我因主誓求你們，向眾弟兄朗誦這封書信。 | 27I order you in the name of the Lord that this letter be read to all of them. |
| 28願我們的主耶穌基督的恩寵與你們同在！ | 28May the grace of Christ Jesus our Lord be with you. |
