¹保祿注視着公議會說：「諸位仁人弟兄！我在天主前，作事為人，全憑純善的良心，直到今天。」	¹Paul looked directly at the Council and said, "Brothers, to this day I have lived my life with a clear conscience before God."
²大司祭阿納尼雅卻命站在旁邊的人打他的嘴。	²At that the High Priest Ananias ordered his attendants to strike him on the mouth.
³那時，保祿向他說：「粉白的牆啊！天主將要打擊你；你坐下審判我，應按照法律，你竟違反法律，下令打我嗎？」	³Then Paul said, "God is about to strike you, you whitewashed wall! You sit there to judge me according to the Law, and you break the Law by ordering me to be struck!"
⁴旁邊站着的人說：「你竟敢辱罵天主的大司祭嗎？」	⁴At this the attendants protested, "How dare you insult God's High Priest?"
⁵保祿說：「弟兄們！我原不知道他是大司祭，因為經上記載說：『不可詛咒你百姓的首長。』」	⁵Paul answered, "Brothers, I did not know that he was the High Priest. For Scripture says: You shall not curse the ruler of your people."
⁶保祿一看出他們一部份是撒杜塞人，另一部份是法利塞人，就在公議會中喊說：「諸位仁人弟兄！我是法利塞人，是法利塞人的兒子，我是為了希望死者的復活，現在受審。」	⁶Paul knew that part of the Council were Sadducees and others Pharisees; so he spoke out in the Council, "Brothers, I am a Pharisee, son of a Pharisee. It is for the hope in the resurrection of the dead that I am on trial here."
⁷他說了這話，法利塞人和撒杜塞人便起了爭辯，會眾就分裂了。	⁷At these words, an argument broke out between the Pharisees and the Sadducees and the whole assembly was divided.
⁸原來撒杜塞人說沒有復活，也沒有天使，也沒有神靈；法利塞人卻樣樣都承認。	⁸For the Sadducees claim that there is neither resurrection, nor angels nor spirits, while the Pharisees acknowledge all these things.
⁹於是喧嚷大起，有幾個法利塞黨的經師起來力爭說：「我們在這人身上找不出一點過錯來；或者有神靈或天使同他說了話！」	⁹Then the shouting grew louder, and some teachers of the Law of the Pharisee party protested, "We find nothing wrong with this man. Maybe a spirit or an angel has spoken to him."
¹⁰爭辯越來越大，千夫長怕保祿被他們撕裂，便命軍隊下來，把保祿從他們中間搶出來，帶到營裏去了。	¹⁰With this the argument became so violent that the commander feared that Paul would be torn to pieces by them. He therefore ordered the soldiers to go down and rescue him from their midst and take him back to the fortress.
¹¹次夜，主顯現給保祿說：「你放心罷！你怎樣在耶路撒冷為我作證，也該怎樣在羅馬為我作證。」	¹¹That night the Lord stood by Paul and said, "Courage! As you have borne witness to me here in Jerusalem, so must you do in Rome."
¹²天一亮，猶太人共商陰謀，發自詛的誓說：「不殺了保祿，決不吃不喝。」	¹²When it was day, certain Jews formed a conspiracy: they bound themselves by an oath not to eat or drink until they had killed Paul.
¹³發這誓的有四十多人；	¹³There were more than forty of them who joined in this conspiracy.
¹⁴這些人來到司祭長及長老前說：「我們發了自詛的誓，不殺了保祿，什麼也不吃。	¹⁴They went to the high priests and the elders and said, "We have bound ourselves by oath not to taste food until we have killed Paul.
¹⁵所以，你們同公議會現在要通知千夫長，帶保祿下到你們這裏，你們假裝要更詳細審訊他的事；我們早準備好，在他來到你們這裏以前，就殺掉他。」	¹⁵Now then, it is up to you and the Council together to convince the Roman commander to bring him down to you on the pretext that you want to investigate his case more thoroughly. We, for our part, are prepared to kill him before he gets there."
¹⁶可是，保祿姊妹的兒子，聽到了這種詭計，就來到營裏，報告給保祿。	¹⁶But the son of Paul's sister heard about the planned ambush, so he went to the headquarters and informed Paul.
¹⁷保祿就叫來一個百夫長說：「請領這個青年到千夫長那裏去，他有事要向他報告。」	¹⁷Paul sent for one of the officers and said, "Take this young man to the commander for he has something to report to him."
¹⁸於是百夫長就帶他到千夫長那裏說：「囚犯保祿叫我去，求我把這個青年領到你這裏來，他有事要告訴你。」	¹⁸So the officer took him and brought him to the commander, saying, "The prisoner Paul called me and asked me to bring this boy to you because he has something to tell you."
¹⁹千夫長拉着他的手，走到一邊，私下詢問說：「你有什麼事要向我報告？」	¹⁹The commander took him by the hand and drawing him aside asked him privately, "What is it that you have to report to me?"
²⁰他說：「猶太人已約定請求你，明天把保祿帶下去，到公議會裏，假裝要更詳細查問他的事。	²⁰The boy replied, "The Jews have agreed among themselves to ask you tomorrow to have Paul brought down to the Council as if to inquire more thoroughly about him.
²¹所以你切不要聽從他們，因為他們中有四十多人埋伏着等待保祿，這些人已發了自詛的誓，非殺掉他，決不吃不喝；現在他們已準備好，只等候你的應允。」	²¹But do not be persuaded by them, for there are more than forty of them ready to ambush him, having bound themselves by an oath not to eat or drink until they have killed him. They are now ready to do it and are awaiting your decision."
²²於是千夫長便打發那青年走了，並吩咐他說：「不要向任何人說你將這事報告給我了。」	²²The commander let the boy go with this advice, "Do not tell anyone that you gave me this information."
²³千夫長遂叫來了兩個百夫長說：「預備二百士兵，七十騎兵，二百長槍手，今夜第三時辰，往凱撒勒雅去，	²³Then the commander summoned two of his officers and said to them, "Get ready to leave for Caesarea by nine o'clock tonight, with two hundred infantrymen, seventy horsemen and two hundred spearmen.
²⁴並備妥牲口，叫保祿騎上，把他平安護送到斐理斯總督那裏。」	²⁴Provide horses also for Paul to ride, so that he may be brought safely to Felix the governor."
²⁵他寫了一封這樣的信：	²⁵He then wrote the governor a letter to this effect:
²⁶「喀勞狄里息雅向總督斐理斯鈞座請安。	²⁶"Claudius Lysias greets the Most Excellent Governor Felix and communicates to him the following:
²⁷這人為猶太人拿住，快要被他們殺掉時，我聽說他是羅馬人，就帶軍隊到場，把他救出。	²⁷The Jews had arrested this man and were about to kill him when I intervened with my troops and took him out of their hands, since I knew he was a Roman citizen.
²⁸我想要知道他們所以控告他的緣由，就帶他下到他們的公議會去。	²⁸As I wanted to know what charge they had against him, I presented him before the Sanhedrin
²⁹得知他被控告，是為了他們的法律問題，並沒有任何該死或該監禁的罪行。	²⁹and I discovered that the accusation related to matters of their Law, but there was nothing which deserved death or imprisonment.
³⁰有人告知我，將有陰謀陷害他。我便立刻打發他到你這裏來，並吩咐原告到你面前控訴他。祝你安好！」	³⁰When I was informed that the Jews had prepared a plot against this man, I decided to send him to you and told his accusers to present their complaints before you. Farewell."
³¹於是士兵照所命令的，夜間帶領保祿到了安提帕特；	³¹The soldiers acted in accordance with these instructions. They took Paul and brought him to Antipatris by night.
³²第二天，讓騎兵跟保祿同去，別的就回到營裏。	³²On the following day, they returned to the fortress but the horsemen continued journeying with him.
³³他們進了凱撒勒雅，把信呈給總督，並引保祿到他面前。	³³Upon entering Caesarea they handed the letter to the governor and presented Paul to him.
³⁴總督讀了信，便問保祿是那一省的人；既查知他是基里基雅人，	³⁴When Felix had read the letter, he asked Paul from which province he was, and when he learned that Paul was from Cilicia,
³⁵便說：「等控告你的人來到，我再聽審你。」遂下令把保祿看守在黑落德王府裏。	³⁵he said to him: "I shall hear your accusers when they come." And he ordered that he be kept in custody in the palace of Herod.
