| 1全能的上主，以色列的天主！憂傷的靈魂和苦惱的心靈正在向你呼號： | 1Almighty Lord, God of Israel, a soul in anguish and a discouraged spirit cries out to you. |
| 2上主！求你俯聽垂憐，因為你是仁慈的天主；求你垂憐，因我們得罪了你。 | 2Listen, Lord, and have pity for we have sinned against you; |
| 3你永居王位，而我們卻要永遠喪亡。 | 3for you reign forever while we perish forever. |
| 4全能的上主，以色列的天主！求你俯聽垂死的以色列人，和犯罪得罪了你的人的子孫的祈禱：他們沒有聽從你，他們天主的聲音，因此災禍便纏繞我們。 | 4Lord, all-powerful God of Israel, listen then to the prayers of the dead of Israel. We are the sons of those who sinned against you, who did not listen to the voice of their God, and this is why disgrace has come upon us. |
| 5求你不再記憶我們祖先的不義，求你在此時只憶及你的威能和你的聖名， | 5Do not remember any longer the wrongdoing of our fathers, but remember at this time your power and your name; |
| 6因為你是上主，我們的天主，我們要讚頌你，上主！ | 6for you are the Lord, our God and we will praise you, Lord. |
| 7你使我們存心敬畏你，正是為叫我們稱呼你的名號；如今我們就在流徙之地讚頌你，從心裏離棄我們的祖先在你前所犯的一切不義。 | 7That is why you have put your fear into our hearts and we call upon your name. And we will praise you in our exile for we have removed from our hearts all the wrong of our fathers who sinned against you. |
| 8看，我們今天仍在你叫我們流徙所到的充軍地，飽受詛咒凌辱，為補贖我們祖先的一切不義，因為他們離棄了上主，我們的天主。 | 8We are here today in our exile where you have scattered us to be insulted, cursed and condemned for the wrongdoing of our fathers, who separated themselves from the Lord our God. |
| 9null | 9Listen, Israel, to the commands of life, give ear so as to learn prudence, |
| 10以色列，請聽取生命的規律，請側耳領會智慧。 | 10Why, Israel! Why are you in the land of your foes? Why are you growing old in a foreign country, contaminated by pagans, |
| 11以色列！這是什麼事呢？怎麼你竟住在敵人的國內，在異地衰老， | 11counted among those who go to the pit? |
| 12與亡者同污，與降入陰府的人同列呢？ | 12You have abandoned the source of Wisdom. |
| 13這是因為你離棄了智慧的泉源。 | 13If you had walked in the way of God, peace would be your dwelling place forever. |
| 14倘若你走天主的道路，你必永遠處於平安之中。 | 14Learn where is Wisdom, where is Strength and Understanding, that you may know, at the same time, where are length of days and life, light of the eyes and Peace. |
| 15你應學習智慧的所在，力量的所在，聰明的所在；這樣，你也能知道長壽和生命的所在，眼的光明和平安的所在。 | 15Who will find Wisdom's dwelling? Who will enter her storage rooms? |
| 16誰找到了智慧的處所？誰進入了智慧的寶庫？ | 16Where are the leaders of the nations, those who commanded the beasts of the earth, |
| 17治理人民和馴服地上走獸的人，在那裏呢？ | 17who played with the birds of the heavens, who piled up silver and gold - in which men put their trust - and who never tired of collecting it? |
| 18玩弄空中的飛鳥和積蓄人依恃的金銀而貪得無厭的人，在那裏呢？ | 18Amassing money was their only concern, their business beyond measure. |
| 19專心致志鑄造銀器，使自己的作品無奇不有的人，在那裏呢？ | 19But they have disappeared, they have gone down to the dead and others have risen in their place. |
| 20他們都不見了，降入了陰府；已另有人起來代替了他們。 | 20A younger generation is there on the earth and enjoys the light, but they have not known the ways of knowledge; they have not seen his tracks nor have they met him, |
| 21年輕的一代一生在世上，就住在地上；但他們仍不認識智慧的道路， | 21and their sons after them did not leave their paths. |
| 22仍不知道智慧的途徑，連他們的子孫，也沒有得到她，因為他們離她的道路很遠。 | 22No one in Canaan has heard of Wisdom, no one has seen her in Teman. |
| 23在客納罕沒有人聽說過她，在特曼沒有人看見過她， | 23The sons of Agar, who seek knowledge of the earth, the traders of Madian and Teman, the tellers of fables and philosophers, they have not known the path of Wisdom, they have not discovered her ways. |
| 24連在地上尋求明智的哈加爾的子孫，以及講說寓言並尋求明智的米德楊和特瑪商人，也不認識智慧的道路，不提及她的途徑。 | 24O Israel, how great is the house of God, how vast his dominion! |
| 25以色列天主的住所多麼廣大，他的領域多麼寬闊！ | 25It is great and has no limits. It is lofty, wide and immeasurable. |
| 26真是廣大無邊，高遠無垠。 | 26There were born the ancient and famous giants of high stature and skillful in war. |
| 27在那裏曾出生過自古有名，身材魁梧和勇敢善戰的巨人， | 27God did not choose them, he did not teach them the ways of Wisdom, |
| 28天主卻沒有揀選他們，沒有指示給他們智慧的道路； | 28and they perished because of their folly, because they lacked knowledge. |
| 29他們滅亡了，因為沒有智慧；他們滅亡了，因為他們昏愚。 | 29Who has ascended to Heaven that he may lay hold of her and bring her down from the clouds? |
| 30誰曾上到天上，取得智慧，使她從雲中降下？ | 30Who has crossed seas and found her, and bought her with the purest of gold? |
| 31誰曾橫渡海洋，尋獲智慧，用純金購買了她呢？ | 31There is no one who knows her path, no one who thinks of her way. |
| 32沒有人認識她的道路，沒有人探得她的途徑。 | 32But he who knows everything recognizes her. He has found her in his own intellect. He who created the earth, for all time, and has filled it with four-footed beings. |
| 33惟有那全知者認識她，以自己的才智尋獲了她，是他永遠堅定了大地，使大地充滿了牲畜； | 33He who sends the light, and it goes, who recalls it, and trembling it obeys. |
| 34是他命閃光發出，閃光即發出；他一召回，即顫慄應命。 | 34The stars shine, full of joy, to keep their night watches. He calls them and they answer, "Here we are." They shine with joy for their Creator. |
| 35星辰各在自己的崗位閃爍，喜形於色； | 35It is he who is our God, no other can be compared with him. |
| 36他一召喚，隨即答說：我們在此！向自己的創造者欣然閃爍。 | 36He has found the way of understanding and has given her to Jacob his servant and to Israel his well-beloved. |
| 37他就是我們的天主，沒有別的可同他相比； | 37Then Wisdom was seen on earth and lived among men. |
| 38他尋得了智慧的一切道路，將她賜給了他的僕人雅各伯，和他心愛的以色列； | 38 |
| 39從此智慧在地上出現，與世人共相往還。 | 39 |
