創世紀	Genesis
¹在起初天主創造了天地。	¹In the beginning, when God began to create the heavens and the earth,
²大地還是混沌空虛，深淵上還是一團黑暗，天主的神在水面上運行。	²the earth had no form and was void; darkness was over the deep and the Spirit of God hovered over the waters.
³天主說：「有光！」就有了光。	³God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light.
⁴天主見光好，就將光與黑暗分開。	⁴God saw that the light was good and he separated the light from the darkness.
⁵天主稱光為「晝」，稱黑暗為「夜」。過了晚上，過了早晨，這是第一天。	⁵God called the light 'Day' and the darkness 'Night'. There was evening and there was morning: the first day.
⁶天主說：「在水與水之間要有穹蒼，將水分開！」事就這樣成了。	⁶God said, "Let there be a firm ceiling between the waters and let it separate waters from waters."
⁷天主造了穹蒼，分開了穹蒼以下的水和穹蒼以上的水。	⁷So God made the ceiling and separated the waters below it from the waters above it. And so it was.
⁸天主稱穹蒼為「天」，天主看了認為好。過了晚上，過了早晨，這是第二天。	⁸God called the firm ceiling 'Sky'. There was evening and there was morning: the second day.
⁹天主說：「天下的水應聚在一處，使旱地出現！」事就這樣成了。	⁹God said, "Let the waters below the sky be gathered together in one place and let dry land appear." And so it was.
¹⁰天主稱旱地為「陸地」，稱水匯合處為「海洋」。天主看了認為好。	¹⁰God called the dry land 'Earth', and the waters gathered together he called 'Seas'. God saw that it was good.
¹¹天主說：「在陸地上，土地要出生青草、結種子的蔬菜和結果子的果樹，各按照在它內的種子的種類！」事就這樣成了。	¹¹God said, "Let the earth produce vegetation, seed-bearing plants, fruittrees bearing fruit with seed, each according to its kind, upon the earth." And so it was.
¹²土地就出生了青草、結種子的蔬菜，各按其類，和結果子的樹木，各按照在它內的種子的種類。天主看了認為好。	¹²The earth produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kind and trees producing fruit which has seed, according to their kind. God saw that it was good.
¹³過了晚上，過了早晨，這是第三天。	¹³There was evening and there was morning: the third day.
¹⁴天主說：「在天空中要有光體，以分別晝夜，作為規定時節和年月日的記號。	¹⁴God said, "Let there be lights in the ceiling of the sky to separate day from night and to serve as signs for the seasons, days and years;
¹⁵要在天空中放光，照耀大地！」事就這樣成了。	¹⁵and let these lights in the sky shine above the earth." And so it was.
¹⁶天主於是造了兩個大光體：較大的控制白天，較小的控制黑夜，並造了星宿。	¹⁶God therefore made two great lights, the greater light to govern the day and the smaller light to govern the night; and God made the stars as well.
¹⁷天主將星宿擺列在天空，照耀大地，	¹⁷God placed them in the ceiling of the sky to give light on the earth
¹⁸控制晝夜，分別明與暗。天主看了認為好。	¹⁸and to separate the light from the darkness. God saw that it was good.
¹⁹過了晚上，過了早晨，這是第四天。	¹⁹There was evening and there was morning: the fourth day.
²⁰天主說：「水中要繁生蠕動的生物，地面上、天空中要有鳥飛翔！」事就這樣成了。	²⁰God said, "Let the water teem with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth under the ceiling of the sky."
²¹天主於是造了大魚和所有在水中孳生的蠕動生物，各按其類，以及各種飛鳥，各按其類。天主看了認為好。	²¹God created the great monsters of the sea and all living animals, those that teem in the waters, according to their kind, and every winged bird, according to its kind. God saw that it was good.
²²遂祝福牠們說：「你們要孳生繁殖，充滿海洋；飛鳥也要在地上繁殖！」	²²God blessed them saying, "Be fruitful and increase in number, fill the waters of the sea, and let the birds increase on the earth."
²³過了晚上，過了早晨，這是第五天。	²³There was evening and there was morning: the fifth day.
²⁴天主說：「地上要生出生物，各按其類；走獸、爬蟲和地上各種生物，各按其類！」事就這樣成了。	²⁴God said, "Let the earth produce living animals according to their kind: cattle, creatures that move along the ground, wild animals according to their kind." So it was.
²⁵天主於是造了地上的生物，各按其類；各種走獸，各按其類；以及地上所有的爬蟲，各按其類。天主看了認為好。	²⁵God created the wild animals according to their kind, and everything that creeps along the ground according to its kind. God saw that it was good.
²⁶天主說：「讓我們照我們的肖像，按我們的模樣造人，叫他管理海中的魚、天空的飛鳥、牲畜、各種野獸、在地上爬行的各種爬蟲。」	²⁶God said, "Let us make man in our image, to our likeness. Let them rule over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, over the cattle, over the wild animals, and over all creeping things that crawl along the ground."
²⁷天主於是照自己的肖像造了人，就是照天主的肖像造了人：造了一男一女。	²⁷So God created man in his image; in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
²⁸天主祝福他們說：「你們要生育繁殖，充滿大地，治理大地，管理海中的魚、天空的飛鳥、各種在地上爬行的生物！」	²⁸God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number, fill the earth and subdue it, rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the sky, over every living creature that moves on the ground."
²⁹天主又說：「看，全地面上結種子的各種蔬菜，在果內含有種子的各種果樹，我都給你們作食物；	²⁹God said, "I have given you every seed-bearing plant which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree that bears fruit with seed. It will be for your food.
³⁰至於地上的各種野獸，天空中的各種飛鳥，在地上爬行有生魂的各種動物，我把一切青草給牠們作食物。」事就這樣成了。	³⁰To every wild animal, to every bird of the sky, to everything that creeps along the ground, to everything that has the breath of life, I give every green plant for food." So it was.
³¹天主看了他造的一切，認為樣樣都很好。過了晚上，過了早晨，這是第六天。	³¹God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. There was evening and there was morning: the sixth day.
