創世紀	Genesis
¹這樣，天地和天地間的一切點綴都完成了。	¹That was the way the sky and earth were created and all their vast array.
²到第七天天主造物的工程已完成，就在第七天休息，停止了所作的一切工程。	²By the seventh day the work God had done was completed, and he rested on the seventh day from all the work he had done.
³天主祝福了第七天，定為聖日，因為這一天，天主停止了他所行的一切創造工作。	³And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on that day he rested from all the work he had done in his creation.
⁴這是創造天地的來歷：在上主天主創造天地時，	⁴These are the successive steps in the creation of the heavens and the earth. On the day that Yahweh God made the earth and the heavens,
⁵地上還沒有灌木，田間也沒有生出蔬菜，因為上主天主還沒有使雨降在地上，也沒有人耕種土地，	⁵there was not yet on the earth any shrub of the fields, nor had any plant yet sprung up, for Yahweh God had not made it rain on the earth, and there was no man to till the earth,
⁶有從地下湧出的水浸潤所有地面。	⁶but a mist went up from the earth and watered the surface of the earth.
⁷上主天主用地上的灰土形成了人，在他鼻孔內吹了一口生氣，人就成了一個有靈的生物。	⁷Then Yahweh God formed Man, dust drawn from the clay, and breathed into his nostrils a breath of life and Man became alive with breath.
⁸上主天主在伊甸東部種植了一個樂園，就將他形成的人安置在裏面。	⁸God planted a garden in Eden in the east and there he placed Man whom he had created.
⁹上主天主使地面生出各種好看好吃的果樹，生命樹和知善惡樹在樂園中央。	⁹Yahweh God caused to grow from the ground every kind of tree that is pleasing to see and good to eat, also the tree of Life in the middle of the garden and the tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.
¹⁰有一條河由伊甸流出灌溉樂園，由那裏分為四支：	¹⁰A river flowed from Eden to water the garden and from there it divided to form four main streams.
¹¹第一支名叫丕雄，環流產金的哈威拉全境；	¹¹The name of the first river is Pishon. It is the one that flows around all the country of Havilah where there is gold,
¹²那地方的金子很好，那裏還產真珠和瑪瑙；	¹²and the gold of that country is good; bidellium and onyx stone are there.
¹³第二支河名叫基紅，環流雇士全境；	¹³The name of the second river is Gihon. It is the one that flows around all the land of Cush.
¹⁴第三支河名叫底格里斯，流入亞述東部；第四支河即幼發拉的。	¹⁴The name of the third river is Tigris. It is the one that flows to the east of Assyria. The fourth river is the Euphrates.
¹⁵上主天主將人安置在伊甸的樂園內，叫他耕種，看守樂園。	¹⁵Yahweh God took Man and placed him in the garden of Eden to till it and take care of it.
¹⁶上主天主給人下令說：「樂園中各樹上的果子，你都可吃，	¹⁶Then Yahweh God gave an order to Man saying, "You may eat of every tree in the garden,
¹⁷只有知善惡樹上的果子你不可吃，因為那一天你吃了，必定要死。」	¹⁷but of the tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, you will not eat, for on the day you eat of it, you will die."
¹⁸上主天主說：「人單獨不好，我要給他造個與他相稱的助手。」	¹⁸Yahweh God said, "It is not good for Man to be alone; I will give him a helper who will be like him."
¹⁹上主天主用塵土造了各種野獸和天空中的各種飛鳥，都引到人面前，看他怎樣起名；凡人給生物起的名字，就成了那生物的名字。	¹⁹Then Yahweh God formed from the earth all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air and brought them to Man to see what he would call them; and whatever Man called every living creature, that was its name.
²⁰人遂給各種畜牲、天空中的各種飛鳥和各種野獸起了名字；但他沒有找着一個與自己相稱的助手。	²⁰So Man gave names to all the cattle, the birds of the air and to every beast of the field. But he did not find among them a helper like himself.
²¹上主天主遂使人熟睡，當他睡着了，就取出了他的一根肋骨，再用肉補滿原處。	²¹Then Yahweh God caused a deep sleep to come over Man and he fell asleep. He took one of his ribs and filled its place with flesh.
²²然後上主天主用那由人取來的肋骨，形成了一個女人，引她到人前，	²²The rib which Yahweh God had taken from Man he formed into a woman and brought her to the man.
²³人遂說：「這才真是我的骨中之骨，肉中之肉，她應稱為『女人』，因為是由男人取出的。」	²³The man then said, "Now this is bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh. She shall be called woman because she was taken from man."
²⁴為此人應離開自己的父母，依附自己的妻子，二人成為一體。	²⁴That is why man leaves his father and mother and is attached to his wife, and with her becomes one flesh.
²⁵當時，男女二人都赤身露體，並不害羞。	²⁵Both the man and his wife were naked and were not ashamed.
