| 1當人在地上開始繁殖，生養女兒時， | 1When people began to increase on the earth and daughters were born to them, |
| 2天主的兒子見人的女兒美麗，就隨意選取，作為妻子。 | 2the sons of God saw that men's daughters were very beautiful, so they married those they chose. |
| 3上主於是說：「因為人既屬於血肉，我的神不能常在他內；他的壽數只可到一百二十歲。」 | 3Yahweh then said, "My spirit will not remain in man forever, for he is flesh. His span of life will be one hundred and twenty years." |
| 4當天主的兒子與人的兒女結合生子時，在地上已有一些巨人──以後也有──他們就是古代的英雄，著名的人物。 | 4At that time there were giants on the earth, and afterwards as well, when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had children by them. These were the heroes of old, men of renown. |
| 5上主見人在地上的罪惡重大，人心天天所思念的無非是邪惡； | 5Yahweh saw how great was the wickedness of man on the earth and that evil was always the only thought of his heart. |
| 6上主遂後悔在地上造了人，心中很是悲痛。 | 6Yahweh regretted having created man on the earth and his heart grieved. |
| 7上主於是說：「我要將我所造的人，連人帶野獸、爬蟲和天空的飛鳥，都由地面上消滅，因為我後悔造了他們。」 | 7He said, "I will destroy man whom I created and blot him out from the face of the earth, as well as the beasts, creeping creatures and birds, for I am sorry I made them." |
| 8惟有諾厄在上主眼中蒙受恩愛。 | 8But Noah was pleasing to God. |
| 9以下是諾厄的小史：諾厄是他同時代惟一正義齊全的人，常同天主往來。 | 9This is the story of Noah. Noah was a just man, blameless among the people of his time, a man who walked with God. |
| 10他生了三個兒子：就是閃、含、和耶斐特。 | 10Noah became the father of three sons: Shem, Ham and Japheth. |
| 11大地已在天主面前敗壞，到處充滿了強暴。 | 11The earth became corrupt in God's sight and was full of violence. |
| 12天主見大地已敗壞，因為凡有血肉的人，品行在地上全敗壞了， | 12God saw the earth and saw it was corrupt, for corrupt, indeed, was the way of all mortals. |
| 13天主遂對諾厄說：「我已決定要結果一切有血肉的人，因為他們使大地充滿了強暴，我要將他們由大地上消滅。 | 13Yahweh said to Noah, "I have in mind to destroy all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. This is why I will destroy them and with them the earth. |
| 14你要用柏木造一隻方舟，舟內建造一些艙房，內外都塗上瀝青。 | 14As for you, build an ark of cypress wood. You will make rooms in the ark and coat it with pitch inside and outside. |
| 15你要這樣建造：方舟要有三百肘長，五十肘寬，三十肘高。 | 15This is the way you will do it: the length of the ark, four hundred and fifty feet; the width, seventy-five feet; the height, forty-five feet. |
| 16方舟上層四面做上窗戶，高一肘；門要安在側面；方舟要分為上中下三層。 | 16You will put a roof on the ark and finish it within eighteen inches from the top. Put a door in the side of the ark and have lower, middle and upper decks. |
| 17看我要使洪水在地上氾濫，消滅天下一切有生氣的血肉；凡地上所有的都要滅亡。 | 17I am about to bring floodwaters on the earth to destroy the earth, to destroy all life under the heavens, every creature that has the breath of life. Everything on earth will perish, |
| 18但我要與你立約，你以及你的兒子、妻子和兒媳，要與你一同進入方舟。 | 18but I will establish my covenant with you. You shall come into the ark, you, your wife, your sons and your sons' wives with you. |
| 19你要由一切有血肉的生物中，各帶一對，即一公一母，進入方舟，與你一同生活； | 19You shall bring into the ark two of every kind of living thing, male and female, to keep them alive with you. |
| 20各種飛鳥、各種牲畜、地上所有的各種爬蟲，皆取一對同你進去，得以保存生命。 | 20Of the birds, the animals and all creeping things on the ground, according to their kind, two of every sort shall come in to be kept alive with you. |
| 21此外，你還應帶上各種吃用的食物，貯存起來，作你和他們的食物。」 | 21Take with you every sort of food that is eaten. Make a store of it and it will be food for you and them." |
| 22諾厄全照辦了；天主怎樣吩咐了他，他就怎樣做了。 | 22And Noah did all as God had commanded him. |
