| 1上主有話傳給耶肋米亞說： | 1This is the word that came to Jeremiah from Yahweh: |
| 2「你們應聽這盟約上的話，將這些話宣讀給猶大人和耶路撒冷的居民聽。 | 2Say to the men of Jerusalem: |
| 3你應對他們說：上主，以色列的天主這樣說：凡不聽從這盟約上的話的人，是可咒罵的！ | 3Cursed be the man who does not heed the terms of this covenant |
| 4這些話是我在領你們的祖先由鐵爐，即由埃及地出來的那天，對他們吩咐的。我對他們說：你們應聽從我的聲音，應依照我命令你們的一切去做，你們就必作我的人民，我也必作你們的天主， | 4which I ordained for your fathers the day I freed them from that cleansing furnace that Egypt is. I said to them: 'If you obey my voice and do all that I command you, you will be my people and I will be your God. |
| 5好使我能實踐對你們祖先所起的誓，賜給他們流奶流蜜的土地，有如今日。」我即答說：「是，上主。」 | 5Then I will fulfill the promise I swore to your fathers, to give you a land flowing with milk and honey,' (as it is today)." I replied, "Amen, Yahweh." |
| 6上主對我說：「你應在猶大城邑和耶路撒冷的街上宣佈這一切話說：你們應聽從這盟約上的話，依照遵行， | 6Yahweh said to me, "Publish what I say in the cities of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem, 'Hear the terms of this covenant and keep them. |
| 7因為在我領你們的祖先由埃及上來的那一天，我就鄭重警告過他們，直到今日仍不斷勸告說：你們應聽從我的聲音！ | 7When I brought your forefathers out of Egypt, I solemnly warned them and have continued to tell them: 'Obey me.' |
| 8他們不但不側耳聽從，反而各隨自己頑固的惡心生活；為此，我對他們執行了我命他們遵行，而他們沒有遵行的這盟約上的一切話。」 | 8But they did not listen to me or heed what I said; each one followed his own stubborn heart. So I fulfilled against them all the words of this covenant that I had commanded them, but which they did not follow." |
| 9上主又對我說：「猶大和耶路撒冷居民間存有叛逆的陰謀。 | 9Yahweh said to me, "There is a conspiracy among the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem. |
| 10他們再陷於他們那不願聽從我話的祖先的罪惡中，追隨事奉其他的神祇；以色列家和猶大家都違犯了我與他們祖先締結的盟約。 | 10They have returned to the sins of their forefathers who refused to obey me; they have followed and served foreign gods. The nation of Israel and the nation of Judah have broken the covenant I made with their fathers." |
| 11為此上主這樣說：看，我必給他們招來不可逃避的災禍；即使他們向我呼號，我也不俯聽。 | 11That is why Yahweh says to you, "I will bring upon them a disaster from which there will be no escape. When they cry to me I will not listen. |
| 12猶大城邑和耶路撒冷的居民，必去呼號他們獻香敬拜的神祗，但這些神祗在他們遭難時，決不能拯救他們。 | 12Then the cities of Judah and the people of Jerusalem will go crying to the gods they worship, but these will not help them in the time of misfortune. |
| 13的確，猶大！你神祗的數目竟等於你城邑的數目；耶路撒冷有多少街道，你們也給可恥之物設立了多少祭壇，向巴耳獻香的祭壇。 | 13For you, Judah, have as many gods as there are cities; as numerous as the streets in Jerusalem are the altars you have raised to Baal." |
| 14至於你，你不必為這人民祈禱，不必為他們呼號祈求，因為他們在遭難時，纔向我呼求，我必不俯聽。」 | 14For your part, do not intercede for this people, nor offer a plea or petition because I will not listen when they cry to me in the time of their distress. |
| 15我心愛的人！你既為非作歹，還在我家裏做什麼？難道許願和祝聖的肉能使你免禍，叫你作惡而能幸免？ | 15What is my beloved doing in my House? She is plotting evil deeds. Will your vows and the meat of your victims cleanse you from your wickedness and allow you to rejoice? Yahweh had called you |
| 16上主曾給你起名叫：「青綠茂盛而滿結佳果的橄欖樹」；但現在他在雷電霹靂聲中，給綠葉燃起了火，燒毀了枝條。 | 16'Beautiful Green Olive Tree - fair and fruitful!' But with the roar of a storm, its foliage took fire and its branches were broken. |
| 17那位培植你的萬軍的上主，命災禍來懲罰你，全是為了以色列家和猶大家自作自受的罪惡，因為他們向巴耳獻香，觸犯了我。 | 17And Yahweh, God of host, who planted you, has condemned to shame. Indeed the nation of the Israel and the nation of Jacob harmed themselves when they worshiped Baal and aroused my anger. |
| 18上主叫我知道，我纔知道；那時我看透了他們的作為： | 18Yahweh made it known to me and so I know! And you let me see their scheming: (126) "Take care, even your own brothers and family are false with you and behind your back they freely criticize you. Do not trust them when they approach you in a friendly way." |
| 19我好像一隻馴服被牽去宰殺的羔羊，竟不知他們對我蓄意謀害：「讓我們毀壞這株生氣蓬勃的樹，將他由活人的地上拔除，使他的名字不再受人記念。」 | 19But I was like a gentle lamb led to the slaughter. I did not know it was against me that they were plotting, "Let us feed him with trials and remove him from the land of the living and let his name never be mentioned again." |
| 20公平審判和洞察肺腑的萬軍的上主！願我見到你對他們的報復，因為我已向你提出我的控訴。 | 20Yahweh, God of hosts, you who judge with justice and know everyone in his heart and in his intentions, let me see your vengeance on them, for to you I have entrusted my cause. |
| 21為此，關於那些謀害我的性命，對我說：「你不要奉上主的名講預言，免得你死在我們手裏」的阿納托特人，上主這樣說， | 21This is what Yahweh has to say against the people of Anathoth who threatened me with death and said, "Do not prophesy any more in the name of Yahweh and we will spare your life." |
| 22萬軍的上主這樣說：「看，我必懲罰他們：青年必死在刀下，子女必死於饑荒， | 22Yahweh says to them, "This is how I will punish you: the young men shall die by the sword; their sons and daughters shall die of hunger. |
| 23使他們沒有子嗣，因為在懲罰他們的那年，我必給阿納托特人招來災禍。」 | 23No one will survive when I bring disaster on the people of Anathoth in the year of their punishment." |
