| 1約伯回答說： | 1Job replied: |
| 2你們且聽一聽我的話！這也算是你們給我的安慰。 | 2Listen at least to my words, enough of your consolation. |
| 3請讓我發言，我說完後，任你們笑罵。 | 3Bear with me while I speak; and then you can mock. |
| 4我豈是抱怨人？我失了忍耐，難道沒有理由？ | 4Is my grudge against humans? Why then should I not be impatient? |
| 5你們注意聽我，必要吃驚，且要用手堵住口。 | 5Look at me and be appalled; cover your mouth for a moment. |
| 6甚至我一回想，我就恐怖，全身戰慄。 | 6When I think about this I am troubled and trembling seizes my body. |
| 7惡人為何享受高壽而勢力強大？ | 7Why do the wicked live, increase in age and in power? |
| 8他們在世時，子孫昌盛，親眼看見子子孫孫。 | 8Their descendants fluorish in their sight, their kinsfolk and their offspring. |
| 9他們的住宅平安，無所畏懼，天主的棍杖也不加在他們身上。 | 9Their homes are safe, free from fear; they do not feel the scourge of God. |
| 10他們的公牛交尾，無不成功；母牛產子，決無流產。 | 10Their bulls breed without fail; their cows calve and do not miscarry. |
| 11他們使孩子跑出像羊群，子女跳躍如麋鹿。 | 11They have children as they have lambs their little ones dance like deer. |
| 12他們伴着手鼓與豎琴歌唱，隨着笛聲歡呼。 | 12They sing to the rhythm of timbrel and harp; make merry to the sound of the flute. |
| 13他們幸福地度過天年，平安地降入陰府。 | 13They live out their days in happiness and go down to Sheol in peace. |
| 14但他們曾向天主說：「離開我們！我們不願知道你的道路。 | 14Yet they said to God, "Go away! We have no desire to learn your way. |
| 15全能者是誰，竟叫我們事奉他？我們祈求他有什麼好處？」 | 15Who is the Almighty that we should serve him? What will it profit us if we pray to him?" |
| 16看啊！他們的幸福，豈不在他們掌握中？惡人的思想豈不離他很遠？ | 16Though they planned everything far from God prosperity is in their hands. |
| 17惡人的燈有多少次熄滅過？災禍有多少次降在他們身上？天主何嘗因忿怒而消滅他們？ | 17How often is their lamp put out? How often does calamity befall them? How often does God's anger wipe them out? |
| 18使他們像被風吹的碎稭？好像被暴風捲去的糠粃？ | 18How often are they like straw before the wind, like chaff which the storm sweeps away? |
| 19難道天主要向他的兒子討罪債？其實應向他本人報復，叫他覺悟！ | 19You say, "His children will pay for his sin." Let the man himself pay for his iniquity; |
| 20叫他親眼看見自己的毀滅，親自飲下全能者的義怒之杯。 | 20let his own eyes see his misfortune; let him drink the wrath of the Almighty! |
| 21他既逝去，他本人的歲月已絕，他的家庭對他還有什麼相干？ | 21What does he care about his family when he dies, when his months have been cut off? |
| 22天主既審判天上者，人豈能教給他什麼智識？ | 22Can anyone teach God knowledge, since he judges even the highest? |
| 23有人到死一無所缺，享盡了平安幸福。 | 23One man dies in full vigor, at ease and completely secure; |
| 24他的腰部充滿脂肪，他的骨髓潤澤豐盈； | 24full and nourished is his figure, rich in marrow are his bones. |
| 25但有人卻至死心靈酸苦，一生毫無福樂； | 25Another dies in bitterness, never having enjoyed happiness. |
| 26他們卻一同埋於塵土，為蛆蟲所掩蓋。 | 26But in the dust they lie down side by side, covered with worms. |
| 27我確知你們的思想，以及對我所籌劃的陰謀。 | 27I know your thoughts fully and your schemes about me. |
| 28你們要問：「霸王的家在那裏？惡人住的帳幕在何處？」 | 28For you say, "Where is the house of the great prince? Where is the tent of the wicked?" |
| 29你們怎麼不問過路的人？難道你們不承認他們的證據？ | 29Have you never asked the travelers, or have you misunderstood what they say - |
| 30「惡人在毀滅之日不受害，在憤怒之日會得救。」 | 30that the evil man is spared from calamity, delivered from the day of God's fury? |
| 31他的動作，誰敢當面指摘？他的行為，誰能報復？ | 31Who will denounce his conduct to his face or pay him back for what he has done? |
| 32他最後被抬入墳墓，且親自守護自己的墓地。 | 32When people have carried him to the grave his image watches from his tomb. |
| 33谷中的土壤，他感覺甘美；眾人都跟他而去，但在他前面的人，更不可勝數。 | 33The soft earth is sweet to him; behind him you see everyone follow and before him a countless horde. |
| 34你們為何說空話來安慰我？你們的答話顯然只是欺詐！ | 34How then can you console me with your nonsense? Pure falsehood is all you have said. |
