| 1上主由旋風中向約伯發言說： | 1Then Yahweh answered Job out of the storm: |
| 2用無知的話，使我的計劃模糊不明的是誰？ | 2Who is this that obscures divine plans with ignorant words? |
| 3你要像勇士束好你的腰，我要問你，請指教我！ | 3Gird up your loins like a man; I will question you and you must answer. |
| 4我奠定大地的基礎時，你在那裏？你若聰明，儘管說罷！ | 4Where were you when I founded the earth? Answer, and show me your knowledge. |
| 5你知道是誰制定了地的度量，是誰在地上拉了準繩？ | 5Do you know who determined its size, who stretched out its measuring line? |
| 6地的基礎置在何處，是誰立了地的角石？ | 6On what were its bases set? Who laid its cornerstone, |
| 7當時星辰一起歌詠，天主的眾子同聲歡呼！ | 7while the morning stars sang together and the sons of God shouted for joy? |
| 8海水洶湧如出母胎時，是誰用門將海關閉？ | 8Who shut the sea behind closed doors when it burst forth from the womb, |
| 9是我用雲彩作海的衣裳，用濃霧作海的襁褓。 | 9when I made the clouds its garment and thick darkness its swaddling clothes; |
| 10是我給海劃定了界限，設立了門和閂， | 10when I set its limits with doors and bars in place, |
| 11並下令說：「你到此為止，不得越過；你的狂潮到此為止。」 | 11when I said, "You will not go beyond these bounds; here is where your proud waves must halt?" |
| 12你有生之日，何嘗給晨光出過命令，又何嘗使曙光知道它之所生？ | 12Have you ever commanded the morning, or shown the dawn its place, |
| 13何嘗使光握緊大地四角，將惡人從那裏抖出去？ | 13that it might grasp the earth by its edges and shake the wicked out of it, |
| 14曙光改變大地，如在膠泥上蓋印；使萬物出現，如着錦衣； | 14when it takes a clay color and changes its tint like a garment; |
| 15撤去惡人的光明，折斷高舉的手。 | 15when the wicked are denied their own light, and their proud arm is shattered? |
| 16你曾否到過海的源流，走過深淵的底處？ | 16Have you journeyed to where the sea begins or walked in its deepest recesses? |
| 17死亡的門給你開啟過嗎？你見過死影之門嗎？ | 17Have the gates of death been shown to you? Have you seen the gates of Shadow? |
| 18你知道大地的廣闊嗎？你若知道，請你說罷！ | 18Have you an idea of the breadth of the earth? Tell me, if you know all this. |
| 19赴光明之所的路是那一條，黑暗的住處在那裏？ | 19Where is the way to the home of light, and where does darkness dwell? |
| 20你知道如何引導黑暗到自己的境地，領黑暗回到自己居所的道路上嗎？ | 20Can you take them to their own regions, and set them on their homeward paths? |
| 21你總該知道，因為你那時已誕生了，而你的年歲已很高。 | 21You know, for you were born before them, and great is the number of your years! |
| 22你到過雪庫，見過雹倉嗎？ | 22Have you entered the storehouse of the snow or seen the storehouse of the hail, |
| 23那是我為降災之時，為戰爭之日所存放的。 | 23which I reserve for times of woe, for days of war and battle? |
| 24雲霧由那條路散開，東風由那條路吹往大地？ | 24What is the way to the place where lightning is dispersed, or the place whence the east wind begins spreading over the earth? |
| 25誰為暴雨啟開閘門，誰為雷電指示道路， | 25Who has cut a channel for the torrents of rain, and a path for the thunderstorm, |
| 26好使雨落在無人之境，降在無人的荒野， | 26to bring rain to no-man's-land and to the unpeopled wilderness, |
| 27為潤澤荒野乾旱之地，好使原野中的綠草生長？ | 27to enrich the wasted and desolate ground, to make the desert bloom with green? |
| 28雨有父親嗎？誰生了露珠？ | 28Does the rain have a father? Who fathers the drops of dew? |
| 29冰出自誰的胎？天上的霜是誰生的？ | 29From whose womb comes the ice, and who gives birth to the frost from the skies, |
| 30水怎樣凝結如石？深淵的表面怎樣固結？ | 30when the waters lie as hard as stone, when the surface of the deep is frozen? |
| 31你豈能拴住昴宿的紐結，解開參星的繩索？ | 31Can you bind the chains of the Pleiades, or loosen the bonds of Orion? |
| 32你豈能使晨星按時升出，引導北斗和它的星群？ | 32Can you guide the morning star in its season, or lead the Bear with its train? |
| 33你豈知道天體的定律，立定天律以管治大地？ | 33Do you know the laws of the heavens, and can you establish their rule on earth? |
| 34你豈能使你的聲音上達雲霄，使雨水沛然降在你處？ | 34Can you raise your voice to the clouds and order their waters to pour down? |
| 35你能否一發令，閃電就發出，且向你說：「我們在這裏！」 | 35Will lightnings flash at your command and report to you, "Here we are?" |
| 36誰將聰明給與鸛鳥，將智慧賦與雄雞？ | 36Who has given the ibis foresight or endowed the cock with foreknowledge? |
| 37當土壤堅固，泥塊凝結之時， | 37Who has the wisdom to count the clouds? Who tilts the water jars of heaven |
| 38誰能憑智力數清雲彩，能傾倒天上的水囊？ | 38so that the dust cakes into a mass and clods of earth stick together? |
| 39當獅子伏於洞穴，臥於叢林埋伏的時候， | 39Can you hunt the woods to appease the hunger of the lioness and her whelps, |
| 40你是否能為牝獅獵取食物，滿足幼獅的食慾？ | 40as they crouch in their dens or lie in wait in the thicket? |
| 41當雛鴉無食，往還飛翔，向天主哀鳴的時候，誰能為烏鴉備食？ | 41Who provides prey for the raven when its young cry out to God and roam about desperate for food? |
