¹耶穌說完了這些話，就和門徒出去，到了克德龍溪的對岸，在那裏有一個園子，他和門徒便進去了。	¹When Jesus had finished speaking, he went with his disciples to the other side of the Kidron Valley. There was a garden there where Jesus entered with his disciples.
²出賣他的猶達斯也知道那地方，因為耶穌同門徒曾屢次在那裏聚集。	²Now Judas, who betrayed him, knew the place since Jesus had often met there with his disciples.
³猶達斯便領了一隊兵和由司祭長及法利塞人派來的差役，帶着火把、燈籠與武器，來到那裏。	³He led soldiers of the Roman battalion and guards from the chief priests and Pharisees, who went there with lanterns, torches and weapons.
⁴耶穌既知道要臨到他身上的一切事，便上前去問他們說：「你們找誰？」	⁴Jesus knew all that was going to happen to him; he stepped forward and asked, "Who are you looking for?"
⁵他們答覆說：「納匝肋人耶穌。」他向他們說：「我就是」。出賣他的猶達斯也同他們站在一起。	⁵They answered, "Jesus the Nazarene." Jesus said, "I am he." Judas, who betrayed him, stood there with them.
⁶耶穌一對他們說了「我就是」，他們便倒退跌在地上。	⁶When Jesus said, "I am he," they moved back and fell to the ground.
⁷於是他又問他們說：「你們找誰？」他們說：「納匝肋人耶穌。」	⁷He then asked a second time, "Who are you looking for?" and they answered, "Jesus the Nazarene."
⁸耶穌答覆說：「我已給你們說了『我就是』；你們既然找我，就讓這些人去罷！」	⁸Jesus replied, "I told you that I am he. If you are looking for me, let these others go."
⁹這是為應驗他先前所說的話：「你賜給我的人，其中我沒有喪失一個。」	⁹So what Jesus had said came true: "I have not lost one of those you gave me."
¹⁰西滿伯多祿有一把劍，就拔出來，向大司祭的一個僕人砍去，削下了他的右耳；那僕人名叫瑪耳曷。	¹⁰Simon Peter had a sword; he drew it and struck Malchus, the High Priest's servant, cutting off his right ear.
¹¹耶穌就對伯多祿說：「把劍收入鞘內！父賜給我的杯，我豈能不喝嗎？」	¹¹But Jesus said to Peter, "Put your sword into its sheath; shall I not drink the cup which the Father has given me?"
¹²於是兵隊、千夫長和猶太人的差役拘捕了耶穌，把他綑起來，	¹²The guards and the soldiers, with their commander, seized Jesus and bound him;
¹³先解送到亞納斯那裏，亞納斯是那一年當大司祭的蓋法的岳父。	¹³and they took him first to Annas. Annas was the father-in-law of Caiaphas, who was the High Priest that year;
¹⁴就是這個蓋法曾給猶太人出過主意：叫一個人替百姓死，是有利的。	¹⁴and it was Caiaphas who had told the Jews: "It is better that one man should die for the people."
¹⁵那時，西滿伯多祿同另一個門徒跟着耶穌；那門徒是大司祭所認識的，便同耶穌一起進了大司祭的庭院，	¹⁵Simon Peter with another disciple followed Jesus. Because this disciple was known to the High Priest, they let him enter the courtyard of the High Priest along with Jesus,
¹⁶伯多祿卻站在門外；大司祭認識的那個門徒遂出來，對看門的侍女說了一聲，就領伯多祿進去。	¹⁶but Peter had to stay outside at the door. The other disciple, who was known to the High Priest went out and spoke to the maidservant at the gate and brought Peter in.
¹⁷那看門的侍女對伯多祿說：「你不也是這人的一個門徒嗎？」他說：「我不是。」	¹⁷Then, this servant on duty at the door said to Peter, "So you also are one of his disciples?" But he answered, "I am not."
¹⁸那時，僕人和差役，因為天冷就生了炭火，站着烤火取煖；伯多祿也同他們站在一起，烤火取煖。	¹⁸Now the servants and the guards had made a charcoal fire and were standing and warming themselves, because it was cold. Peter was also with them warming himself.
¹⁹大司祭就有關他的門徒和他的教義審問耶穌。	¹⁹The High Priest questioned Jesus about his disciples and his teaching.
²⁰耶穌答覆他說：「我向來公開地對世人講話，我常常在會堂和聖殿內，即眾猶太人所聚集的地方施教，在暗地裏我並沒有講過什麼。	²⁰Jesus answered him, "I have spoken openly to the world; I have always taught in places where the Jews meet together, either at the assemblies in synagogues or in the Temple. I did not teach secretly.
²¹你為什麼問我？你問那些聽過我的人，我給他們講了什麼；他們知道我所說的。」	²¹Why then do you ask me? Ask those who heard me, they know what I said."
²²他剛說完這話，侍立在旁的一個差役，就給了耶穌一個耳光，說：「你就這樣答覆大司祭嗎？」	²²At this reply one of the guards standing by gave Jesus a blow on the face, saying, "Is that the way to answer the High Priest?"
²³耶穌答覆他說：「我若說得不對，你指證那裏不對；若對，你為什麼打我？」	²³Jesus said to him, "If I have spoken wrongly, point it out; but if I have spoken rightly, why do you strike me?"
²⁴亞納斯遂把被捆的耶穌，解送到大司祭蓋法那裏去。	²⁴Then Annas sent him, bound, to Caiaphas, the High Priest.
²⁵西滿伯多祿仍站着烤火取煖，於是有人向他說：「你不也是他門徒中的一個嗎？」伯多祿否認說：「我不是。」	²⁵Now Simon Peter stood there warming himself. They said to him, "Surely you also are one of his disciples." He denied it and answered, "I am not."
²⁶有大司祭的一個僕役，是伯多祿削下耳朵的那人的親戚，對他說：「我不是在山園中看見你同他在一起嗎？」	²⁶One of the High Priest's servants, a kinsman of the one whose ear Peter had cut off, asked, "Did I not see you with him in the garden?"
²⁷伯多祿又否認了，立時雞就叫了。	²⁷Again Peter denied it, and at once the cock crowed.
²⁸然後他們從蓋法那裏把耶穌解往總督府，那時是清晨；他們自己卻沒有進入總督府，怕受了沾污，而不能吃逾越節的羔羊。	²⁸Then they led Jesus from the house of Caiaphas to the court of the Roman governor. It was now morning. The Jews didn't enter lest they be made unclean (by coming into the house of a pagan) and be unable to eat the Passover meal.
²⁹因此，比拉多出來，到外面向他們說：「你們對這人提出什麼控告？」	²⁹So Pilate went out and asked, "What charge do you bring against this man?" They answered,
³⁰他們回答說：「如果這人不是作惡的，我們便不會把他交給你。」	³⁰"If he were not a criminal, we would not be handing him over to you."
³¹比拉多便對他們說：「你們自己把他帶去，按照你們的法律審判他罷！」猶太人回答說：「我們是不許處死任何人的！」	³¹Pilate said, "Take him yourselves and judge him according to your own law." But they replied, "We ourselves are not allowed to put anyone to death."
³²這是為應驗耶穌論及自己將怎樣死去而說過的話。	³²It was clear from this what kind of death Jesus was to die, according to what Jesus himself had foretold.
³³比拉多於是又進了總督府，叫了耶穌來，對他說：「你是猶太人的君王嗎？」	³³Pilate then entered the court again, called Jesus and asked him, "Are you the King of the Jews?"
³⁴耶穌答覆說：「這話是你由自己說的，或是別人論我而對你說的？」	³⁴Jesus replied, "Does this word come from you, or did you hear it from others?"
³⁵比拉多答說：「莫非我是個猶太人？你的民族和司祭長把你交付給我，你作了什麼？」	³⁵Pilate answered, "Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have handed you over to me. What have you done?"
³⁶耶穌回答說：「我的國不屬於這世界；假使我的國屬於這世界，我的臣民早已反抗了，使我不至於被交給猶太人；但是，我的國不是這世界的。」	³⁶Jesus answered, "My kingship does not come from this world. If I were king like those of this world, my guards would have fought to save me from being handed over to the Jews. But my kingship is not from here."
³⁷於是比拉多對他說：「那麼，你就是君王了？」耶穌回答說：「你說的是，我是君王。我為此而生，我也為此而來到世界上，為給真理作證：凡屬於真理的，必聽從我的聲音。」	³⁷Pilate asked him, "So you are a king?" And Jesus answered, "Just as you say, I am a king. For this I was born and for this I have come into the world, to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is on the side of truth hears my voice."
³⁸比拉多遂說：「什麼是真理？」說了這話，再出去到猶太人那裏，向他們說：「我在這人身上查不出什麼罪狀來。	³⁸Pilate said, "What is truth?" Pilate then went out to the Jews again and said, "I find no crime in this man.
³⁹你們有個慣例：在逾越節我該給你們釋放一人；那麼，你們願意我給你們釋放猶太人的君王嗎？」	³⁹Now, according to a custom, I must release a prisoner of yours at the Passover. With your agreement I will release for you the King of the Jews."
⁴⁰他們就大聲喊說：「不要這人，而要巴辣巴！」巴辣巴原是個強盜。	⁴⁰But they insisted and cried out, "Not this man, but Barabbas!" Now Barabbas was a robber.
